This underlayment is not recommended by the manufacturer (Portercraft Floors). Frank LaCava installed the floor incorrectly and now it will need to be replaced. Nelson Melara installed our tile and the grout is soft/crumbling and will need to be replaced. Nelson is unresponsive and does not stand behind his work.

After connecting with Simply Floors early 2026 because of the shredding carpet and after a couple of inspections and coordination with the manufacturer of the carpet, I now have the replacement installed (June 1, 2026). The installation was a good process this time and the carpet will most likely hold up very well. Good installation, done within a reasonable time frame and confirmation of details beforehand was achieved. Would have given 5 stars if this was how it went in the beginning. Although I wouldn't recommend one company over another, I would recommend solid communication with all involved, especially with the install crew and company together so everyone is on the same page from the beginning and not just futile lip service. Follow-up inquiries are also important. Would I work with this company again---probably, since they came through with corrections.

McDonald Carpet One does tile areas too and did our entry area in the 2018 phase with the kitchen floor and new upstairs carpet, 3 bedrooms, a hall and full flight of stairs. That construction had not been level enough for hardwood as the floor joists had to be laid over the very old beams. The tile manufacturer was sold out and redesigning the companion smaller tile so nothing was available to do the fireplace hearth, even if we could have paid for it at the time. Fast forward to this spring and now they did have a companion tile. I'll admit the color lot changed a bit but it is still quite acceptable and looks good with the hardware around the metal fire doors and the decor in the mantle. April, the staff member I had used in the past set it up for us. They do have other staff too and the owner stays close to operations. We have had years of good projects with them so please also read my previous review. I am glad this final renovation to our house is done and glad I could use so many longtime reliable Boulder companies.

I went to the store to return their carpet samples and asked them to place an order and Sheri actually stopped me. I had mentioned that I'm sensitive to chemical smells, so even though I was ready to hand them my money Sheri said wait a minute let's discuss further because I'm not sure if you'll be happy. Turns out, I would've been unhappy with that one (this one wasn't a wool / no VOC carpet). Jerry came to my home to do a measurement along with one of his staff members Jose. What friendly guys, the type of good folks you'd want to have as neighbors. At one point I even walked completely from the sale after all their work and multiple quotes and warranty research, etc., because I needed a good bit of time (a month or two) to reassess. Zero pressure or bitterness from these folks, and that's exactly the type of moment when you know what kind of people and what kind of business you're dealing with. I should also mention for review purposes that I did cross per-yard cost comparisons with two different Carpet Exchange stores (because the first Carpet Exchange store's guy was absolutely clueless about the Karastan carpet I was using for comparison) and Go Green was cheaper (and they could tell you all about it). Go Green being in Boulder vs. Carpet Exchange being a big chain and in Thorton and Westminster, this price difference in Go Green's favor actually surprised me.

Then ordered the amount of material needed per that contractor. Go Green added in 2x the standard overage. They seemed miffed that we did not hire them to install the product based on their over the top labor estimate. We picked up the material, had it installed and sure enough, they included double the standard overage. After the install, we had several unopened boxes to return to them, and they refused. The owner is arrogant and belligerent. Just the opposite of a good business model. So much for supporting a local business. Shop elsewhere.
