I brought my daughter to this gym for several years, and up until recently we truly had a wonderful experience. The facility is beautiful, the camps and classes were always enjoyable, and most of the instructors have been absolutely amazing with the children. Unfortunately, things changed after a new coach named Val was hired. At first, I tried not to judge and wanted to give her a fair chance, but over time I became very uncomfortable with the way she interacted with the kids. I noticed her making disappointed facial expressions toward them and speaking negatively about children behind their backs, which I found very unprofessional and upsetting as a parent. We really did not want to leave because my daughter loved so much about this gym, but after this experience we felt it was best to switch elsewhere. Overall, I would still recommend this gym because the majority of the staff and programs are wonderful. However, I do hope management addresses concerns regarding Coach Val, because otherwise this easily would have been a 5-star experience for our family. read more

I have been paying money to this gym for years thinking I was supporting an outstanding establishment that promotes engagement and high levels of safety standards. However, I was shocked to find that my child was not only UNSUPERVISED, but that the individual responsible was not wearing a mask and was on his phone. A gym is a place with a lot of dangerous equipment and opportunities for children to get hurt easily - that is why they are paid to supervise our children! At this point, it has been months since the mask mandate has been in place and the staff DO NOT WEAR MASKS. The front desk does not try to hide this fact as they hang their masks over their foreheads without covering their noses/mouths. DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS. It is unsafe for your family. read more

I'm having a really hard time liking my investment here. But I think that it's due to my child's age range and therefore her group. Because she's in the younger, beginner class, they do not meet in the large gym with full scale equipment, but rather in a small separate building which seems thrown together as an afterthought. I like my daughter's teacher - she seems knowledgeable. What I do not like is that half the class is spent stretching (I understand that stretching is important, but you don't need to have 3 and 4 year olds stretch for a full 20 minutes in a 45 minute class... you're biding your time... which I'm paying for) and the clock watching is too obvious. I can see the basics that are being taught, but my daughter is bored. The class is extremely small and the teacher is able to maintain general control and keep their attention, but there isn't a lot of excitement or encouragement to keep the kids' interest into WHY they're doing what they're doing. I just would be doing it a different way based on sitting through and observing each class. Leaving every day feeling like I've wasted over $100 bucks on a kid's activity isn't my favorite feeling. I'm looking for up beat, structured, encouraging and exciting. Again, I think that the age group is difficult - you can't be too technical with them yet, but you can't turn 'em loose - it's not play time. Since I'm on a musical chairs schedule with extracurricular activities for my daughter, we will see this through and reap what benefit from it we can - but I think we'll probably give another center a try next time and opt for dance or soccer as our next endeavor. read more

This Gym, along with its instructors and leaders deserve a solid 5 star review! Our son has been training at Star Center Gymnastics for approx 3 years now and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Our family is extremely health conscious and this gym has helped to solidify that foundation for our son. Strength, flexibility, power, endurance, discipline, respect and an understanding of the importance of mastering fundamentals is what this gym has helped our son to understand. The staff is friendly. The instructor's tough but encouraging. This Gym has done a great job in creating a friendly environment and a culture amongst its participants. As long as we live in Austin, our children will attend this gym! read more

My granddaughter has been going to Star Center since she was 3 years old, and is now 7 years old. She attends the after school program now, and I hope she continues there for as long as possible. The coaches not only promote skills, strength, and safety, but daily, they seem to try and instill a sense of kindness, and respectability towards other team members. The staff is caring and mindful of all the children well. We have never had any complaints or problems with Star. read more

Having our son attend Star Center Gymnastics has been such a positive experience for our son and our family. Our son is currently a part of their competitive Boy's Team and I couldn't be happier with the training he has received. The coaching staff here is outstanding! In fact one of our coaches received "Coach of the Year" for the whole state of Texas! This is a tough program but if you really want to take gymnastics seriously and want your son to excel in this sport, then this is the only gym for you. No other gyms in the area compare..... read more

Our older kids went here when they were younger. Now our 3 yr old is starting here. They are great. We love this place. Clean facility, friendly staff. read more

My daughter is 5 1/2. We started here after being at Little Gym, looking for more technical skills. I was impressed when we walked in seeing the older kids in the main gym however quickly realized for this age group the lessons were mediocre. The instructor is disengaged and looks like she could care less about the kids and teaching them. The class is disorganized and half of the hour is spent on stretching. I wouldn't recommend this program for kiddos in this age range. read more

My daughter started out at Star Center last summer for camp. We then enrolled her in classes for the fall. I am really impressed with the quality of the instructors at Star Center. Yes, they were a bit standoffish at first, and it took a little while to get the system down. But my daughter loved it from the minute she started there, and that's what it's really about! The instructors and staff are not there to take care of me--they're there for my kid. And SHE has learned more in a few months at Star Center than she did it two years at Dance Unlimited. We are looking forward to another summer of camp at Star Center and to see how far she can go! read more

I joined the senior open cheer team in 2004 when my old all-star cheer gym closed. I had a great time on the team but it was short-lived because they soon changed their policy when they got a new coach after the old one left. The policy was to require EVERY SINGLE person to have a standing backhand spring by August. I was unaware of this until I made the call and the new coach told me I had been replaced because I didn't have a backhand spring by the deadline even though I had everything else expected. This was mainly because I injured my shoulder by trying to do one un-spotted. They always moved coaches around and athletes would come and leave because of it. I really hate it when they change policies without warning and excluding novice or lower levels from older age groups and reserve them for the younger or typically "single digits" age groups. These all-star gyms in Texas really push the "all or nothing" rule when it comes to competitive cheer. Not everyone learns evenly, and should really look at everything else they can offer. If Star Center still has a competitive cheer program, I'm betting that it's going to retire soon while they primarily focus on gymnastics. read more

We are very fortunate to live so close to Star Center, I am sure parents must drive from all over to have their children train there. Even though we are probably never going to the Olympics it is great to have our daughter trained by excellent instructors. We have always felt very welcomed at the Star Center and she loves to go! There is a lot going on in the gym, but is is a very well-oiled machine. read more

I would not recommend this gym after the terrible customer service we received. Our daughter took a few gymnastics classes here but wasn't that into it. After she injured her hand we stopped going for a few weeks. I then received a call from them saying that we were late on our October payment. Apparently they have a weird drop policy that if you can't come (even temporarily) you have go in personally two weeks in advance and fill out a form. Since we were unaware of this policy we had to pay for 2 full months during which our daughter never actually attended. We tried to reason with the owner but he would not budge and had to pay $180 for nothing. Before I became pregnant, I was the manager of Yoga Yoga and had to handle many situations with our students. Personally, I know how important customer service is as a small business and I would have never treated a student like this. I have always gave our students the benefit of doubt and even call our students who have monthly memberships when they don't come to class for a while to make sure they still want to continue to be charged. I did like our daughter's gymnastic teacher but I would not recommend this business purely based on their poor customer service. read more

My daughter has been on the team as well as in classes at Star. She just loves the coaches, Dar & Justin and we wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. read more

My son has been attending Star Center for over 5 years and has been a gymnast on the boys competitive gymnastics team. He has a love of the sport of gymnastics and has had excellent coaches. The boys/teams do very well during competition and you can see the high standard that is held by the coaches and demonstrated by the boys. Our family has faced many difficulties over the last several years, and we have received incredible support from the coaches and staff at the gym. I really love Star Center and would recommend it to families of both boys and girls. Whether you are looking for after-school care, recreational gymnastics, summer camp, birthday parties or competitive gymnastic teams, you can't go wrong with the programs at Star Center. read more

If you want you kid to be in a military camp, send them here! No better place to break them down. Very little encouragement and belittling is just one of the perks! Tried this gym for a few months and had to drive over an hour each way to get there. No thanks! read more

The owner from Star Center, Mike Trevino, is extremely passive-aggressive. There's nothing that pisses me off more than people who say "I'm not calling you ____ but" and then proceed to basically do just that. What pisses me off more is he sought me out to do this over what was obviously an accident the day after I had given his business money. I was shocked. So, to imitate him, I'm not calling him rude but his attitude toward me was very disparaging. It's a shame that this is the only gym with adult classes. The instructors are very nice, super attentive, helpful and knowledgeable. I had a great time here and asked for my money back anyway just because I was so angry. The owner sure doesn't care about your business and let's you know it. If you have a choice go somewhere else. read more
