Oh my goodness, I literally needed a caterer a month before my wedding and star catering happened to be available they went to the my wedding venue all the way in Carmel and they were so professional so prepared they had all of the China pieces available. Star Catering agreed to cater our wedding after our original caterer unfortunately was not able to pull through about a month and a half or so before the wedding. Mario and his team did a great job serving up burgers for our backyard wedding and we got a lot of positive feedback about the food from our guests. Star Catering does require the full amount paid a week in advance. This was not a problem for us, but some people could be uncomfortable with that. Wow. Just wow. We were SO impressed with Star Catering for our wedding. We live 5 hours north from the Clovis area and got married in a remote location on the side of the river, so they had their work cut out for them! We put together a unique menu (one of the mains was a Cuban mojo style porchetta) and they came through and created amazing food. I had people coming up to me the next morning, raving about the food, asking about the sauces, everyone just loved the food. But even though the food was fantastic, we were blown away at the service. We got married on a beach by the river. There was no running water, no electricity, setting up on sand, an hour into the hills of the Sierra Nevada. It made our planning a lot easier since Star Catering was a "one-stop shop" for our wedding. They took care of all the tables, chairs, utensils, napkins, plates, glassware, linens, staff, and setup. I contacted Mauro because my husband and I were looking for unique good food for our wedding. We didn't like any of the catering companies in the Valley because you had to choose from a set list of generic (lame) food. Our first meeting with Mauro we sat down and dreamed up food that we like eating which is a mixture of everything and lots of Asian influences. Since my husband is Chinese we wanted that incorporated somewhat. We also don't love cake and since Mauro did pastries we asked for a trio of pastries for our wedding instead. So we planned the menu and did a tasting closer to the wedding. Based on the tasting we changed up 2 of the dishes for the wedding. Our menu was appetizers of chicken satay skewers, egg rolls, and fried cheese cubes. Buffet of beef brochettes, bulgogi pork loin, dirty rice, garlic veggies, beef tortellini in butter sauce, mixed salad and bread. Passed dessert trio of Venetian cake, coconut custard puff, and a mango fruit tart. We worked back and forth a lot with Mauro and sometimes it wasn't the most clear communication, especially about the changing costs of things. But we got through it. I also asked for him to add tea, hot chocolate packets and apple cider for our toasts onto the menu. Then my husband really wanted a small little cake just for cutting pictures. Mauro said we could do that but it ended up adding a bit of money onto the bill that I wish we knew about before. But he made it pretty for us and that's all it was needed for. We also were able to rent our linens through expo event rental using Mauro's name which really helped. He delivered those the day before so we could set up in advance. Mauro also brings his own drinks, plates, cups and utensils which was hard to find with any other caterers. An extra detail is that he prints up the menu for the tables to read! Because of the pandemic the buffet required everyone to wear gloves so they wouldn't touch things that he provided. On the day of it was very windy and I heard they had trouble getting the fires to stay lit. His staff were very sweet and brought us fresh appetizers after we returned from photos. Even with that they were able to get our food ready just a little late. He hand carved the pork loin for the guests and it was delicious, everyone loved the pork. I loved the rice which was like mushroom risotto and the coconut cream puff was fabulous! My husbands favorite was the mango tart and the really delicious veggies (not bland watery steamed veggies!). His staff also perfectly timed the apple cider pours for the toasts after dinner. Our only 2 complaints were that the beef was very hard to chew and the Venetian cake on the trio was not the flavors we were expecting. He really did A LOT for us and worked hard making it beautiful and flow. I'm really glad we had good unique food and got to have input in every item of the food. Mauro is a personality that shined at the reception. It was difficult sometimes to get the correct information from Mauro in the time frames given. I would have to ask many times and in the end it cost a little more than we originally discussed which for these reasons I give 4 stars. But with all that he did, we are glad we chose him for our wedding. read more

Mario is a busy guy but for all the right reasons. He truly delivers top notch service from the food down to all of the professional servers. Him and his team are amazing! Everyone at our company's annual holiday party was raving about the great food. We suffered from budget constraints this year and he was able to work with us. Only thing I heard was suffering was the bread rolls being a bit on the hard/rough side but that was it. I highly recommend him. Please be a bit patient with him (again, he's a busy guy and answers all of customers' inquiries himself); he will make sure to thoroughly communicate with you all the way up until the event. We had been hopeful to use Star Catering for our wedding but we ended up needing to use another catering service. While Mario was very personable and his food was good, from a business management standpoint the experience was awful. It took nearly 4 months to get a proposal to know if it would fit our budget and we were constantly emailing asking for it. They kept asking us for the same information and losing their notes, emailed our proposal to the wrong people and were not prepared for our tasting with the items we had discussed. And once we finally did receive our proposal, it was almost $2000 over our discussed budget and had no details on how the cost was broken down. It was a very frustrating and disappointing experience. We were able to select a menu of our own, and even be pretty specific about entre and beverage choices. His prices were very fair for our event.
