Hello, my name is Chris and I am a danceaholic. More specifically, am addicted to classes at…read moreDecidedly Jazz Danceworks. I signed up for an introduction to Bollywood class in the spring on a whim, and found myself looking forward to each session as the highlight of my week. I enjoyed it so much that this term I signed up for more classes and am dancing there four days a week. I feel terrific and energized, and I am having SO MUCH FUN. The teachers that I've had have been great- patient, good at explaning things, enthusiastic, and great dancers and choreographers. The classes I've taken have been low pressure and unintimidating, geared towards adult hobby dancers, rather than professionals. And even so, I've been learning a ton and the teachers are really experts. The school offers lots of different classes with an emphasis on jazz and jazz-inspired classes, including funk, hip hop, breaking, and house. But they also offer other classes like ballet, tap, and capoeira. The intro classes are truly intro classes for people with no experience in that style of dance, or with no dance experience at all. And the non-intro classes come in a range of skill levels for people who already know what they're doing. I find the classes to be very reasonably priced, the studios are large and in good condition, and all of the staff is great. I'll take off .00001 of a star because I think "Decidedly Jazz" has got to be one of the worst names for a dance school I've ever heard :) But it still rounds up to five stars because this place is tops!

A great atmosphere for all ages and backgrounds! We are very happy to be part of this studio.read more

Soul Connection offers everything from dance to yoga, and with schedules that you can work around…read more I first inquired here because of the 'hot yoga' sign at the entrance of the strip mall. I've never been a huge yoga fan because I find it a little too slow and usually I get restless and hyper, but hot yoga seems to be different. There's something about sweaty like a cow that really adds to a work-out. Not only did I love the hot yoga session, but I really enjoyed the instructor. She seemed extremely knowledgeable about every pose she was doing and wasn't afraid to walk around and correct what we were doing wrong. I felt bad that she had to touch my sweaty-ass body, but I was happy she was helping me. Now that I've conquered the yoga class, next up is dance! They offer a couple different classes so I think it would be neat to give it a try. Each of their classes, yoga included, has a weekly schedule and drop-in options. Stop by and pick up a schedule because I'm sure something will match your availability... and price range.

Luckily, my two GFs convinced me to pick up a two week unlimited drop in class pass with them and try out all the yoga classes. From restorative to relaxation, you really have your pick! Power flow taught by Nicole on Thursdays got us hooked, we've been going to Soul for the better part of a year now. Nicole also teaches the Gentle Flow on Fridays, which is a $5 drop in class and a steal of a deal if you ask me! It's a great class to try if you're new to yoga and wanna see what yoga (and the studio!) is all about. The ladies at the reception desk are super friendly and helpful, and the teachers are pretty great - I know those are the two things that keep me coming back :)

The owner of the studio is unfriendly, and the culture stems from her. The email communications... all I can say is... wow!! Extremely rude, inconsiderate, nasty... I don't know who writes those emails, but they definitely need a lesson in how to communicate effectively and respectfully. I won't be bringing my daughter back here... I'll take my business elsewhere.

I found this studio an awful, unprofessional place. They will never see me again!…read moreThe owner is as rude as it gets, she ignores the junior students as if they are not satisfying or exceptional enough, and only approaches the senior dancers. There is no equality nor fairness in her attitude. My lyrical teacher always ate large amounts of unhealthy foods(chocolate, candy, cookies)that usually left crumbs on the floor(and we had to dance on it).The first half of the class she obnoxiously talked about herself and what she did on the weekend, after we would begin the class-that usually involved the same simple exercise because she was "tired" or "nothing came to her head".In jazz the instructor felt that it was appropriate to swear and make rude comments at the students, we didn't get much done there either. The only class that has taught me a lot was ballet "Ms.Black" she was professional, and made useful corrections. However in every class you registered there was an obligation to do recital(performance at the end of the years)or if you chose not to do it, there was nothing for you to do in class after Christmas, but that's not the worst part-You must sign up and pay for the whole year, not just until winter break or after. I suggest you save your time(and money)and please avoid this somewhat the call a "dance studio" because trust me , it won't do you any good!

MY. GOD. The show was absolutely INCREDIBLE. The sets! The dancers! The music! OH MY! The ballet was accompanied by The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and I cannot even begin to describe how superb every single element of the show was. Choreographed by Edmund Stripe, all music composed by Pyotr llyich Tchaikovsky and performed by some of the most talented dancers I have EVER seen on stage, this show is truly one of a kind. Every single dancer who took the stage performed with absolute grace, professionalism and expertise - to the point where they made it seem like dancing on your tip toes or leaping through the air is as simple as breathing. I truly don't have enough words to describe how incredible this show is. If I could recommend you see ONE show this holiday season, I would recommend it be The Nut Cracker performed by The Alberta Ballet. It's only on stage in Calgary until December 26th, so that gives you 6 days to book seats for one of the most awe-inspiring shows you will ever see.
