Great selection of products, particularly for African American hair and beauty. I shop there regularly.

This was my first time at this location since the new owners took over. This location is now black owned. I needed a couple items and remembered they were open due to a social media post I saw a long time ago. I was greeted immediately and they were playing some 90s and 2000s RnB. I was presently surprised by how big and clean the store was. It was a little overwhelming at first as there are so many aisles. I decided to wander around and see what I could see. This location has a salon in the back. There was so many items to choose from and I noticed prices were clearly marked. The young man who checked me out was very kind and congenial. He asked if I was part of their loyalty program and I told him it was my first time. He gave a big smile and said welcome in. Did you find everything you needed and also how did you hear about us? Empty shelves and sky high prices. Music blasting people just standing around eating and talking.. I paid over $3 for a single use package of conditioner. I thought i would give it another try due to it being under new ownership. I definitely will not be returning. read more

What can I say, lace knots visible as they were not bleached. Unprofessional environment, inexperienced stylists, Instead of offering half or a refund offer of apology was given. When questioned owner she was not empathetic, stoic and hypocritical in answers when asked question and answers made no sense. That's not acceptable when you're paying hundreds for a hairstyle that took a whole day! It is with great sadness that I will not be returning. As I now question if any one is licensed and unbeknownst to me I encountered someone else who had a horrific experience. I tipped out of pity. read more

She uses the best serum by cocco hair pro which they have a pro section as well for local licensed hair stylist discounts! Angela and Bridgitte are so knowledgeable with wigs and weaves. Even better they have a rewards bonus card membership card too for locals. They have it all! read more

They have great overly priced stuff. You could find majority of their items for about $3 off at other outlets. Their shoe selection is really nice. Nothing under $29 though. Their wigs I could buy offline for half the price. Being darker skintone trying to purchase blonde spiral thick hair, I needed to see what I was buying. Not all shades of blonde looks good on everyone. I ended up trying on 7 wigs and was going to buy 2 of them for $29 dollars - that is until one of the korean workers who was practically stalking me across the store told me that I couldn't try on anymore than 3 and to leave after. I told the person servicing me to never mind the wigs and gave her back the $36 pair of boots. Left with a solid F that attitude. Every other time I go up there to try on hair, I never get waited on. I don't get a recognition even when I say something. Although this time I was receiving the best service I have ever had, this freaking stalker man finally put the nail on the coffin. I'm done with that store. I will be spending my $130 elsewhere :/ read more

I have just recently started patronizing Star Beauty. I have found everyone that I have come in contact with very helpful and knowledgeable. Your greeted as you walk in the door and made to feel welcome. The customer service is hands down the best I have received in a Beauty Supply store. I was surprised to see a full service Hair Salon in the back of the store. I haven't seen that any place else in Cleveland that I have gone. I think the prices are comparable to other Beauty Stores. read more

I've been coming to this BSS since I was a child. It is Asian-owned and there are a few black workers there occasionally in the wig area who are very helpful and kind. I come into this BSS almost weekly and only recently have I been treated rudely by the owners. The older man and woman literally breathing down my neck as I shop, I kid you not. Any aisle I go down, they rushed right over to "check" something. I always spend money here but this is the last time. As someone who shops here regularly, you would think that would mean I would be treated with respect, but apparently not. Thanks for nothing, Star Beauty. You're losing a customer of 15+ years today. read more

Went yesterday to buy some hair accessories . . . Since the son has taken over the business all of the accessories prices were increased by 50%. Everything that used to be a $1 each like headbands, flowers, hair ties are now all $2-4 each. This place is a rip off from what it used to be. Time to find a new place to go that isn't gauging customers. read more

I am surprised this place is still around and people are still willing to support their business. But I guess if you need hair supplies, etc and nothing else is around then you may feel you don't have a choice (you always have a choice but I digress). The last time I went (and I meant that, I haven't been back since) I witnessed something that pissed me off and I vowed to never go back to give them any of my money. I don't care if the item was 99 cent they weren't getting a dime from me. There was this young lady (Black) who asked the woman (Asian) who worked there for help, the young lady said "Excuse me" a few times to the woman, whom was growing irritated in the face. Now on a side note in SB there's a wall tall mirror in the section you try on wigs so you can see the employee's face as she's ignoring the customer- pretending to stock an empty shelf. So the young lady says "Excuse me" one more time before the employee hauls off, snaps her finger at and demands the black female employee go help the customer, the Asian employee mumbles "I can't be bothered with..." I couldn't hear the rest because she managed to storm off before she finished the sentence. The black employee look empathetic to the customer but said nothing (I guess her job was more important than morals, but again I digress, however I know if I heard and seen all of that then she did too). The customer looked as if she wanted to cry, she purchased her wig and left. She better then me because I would have left that wig right on their dusty shelf and left. The fact that the blatant racism that was going on and normalized by the staff just told me everything I needed to know and I chose not to do business with them anymore. I rethought my decision about that purchase I was going to make and decided to go further down Warrensville Ctr. Rd. to a different hair store. Never again. read more
