I spent well over $500 on one pair of glasses. I did get in the day I went online requesting an appointment. Went through a quick "eye exam" then began talking w/an employee of my options. This young gal seemed to know her selling spiel, but she also shared a tad much with me of her personal life. All seemed to go smoothly UNTIL I went to pick up my new glasses. I chose bifocals with a simple black frame. The lenses were to darken when approaching sunlight or brightness. All seemed wonderful but... ...slowly over perhaps 4 to 6 months, a strange film began showing (or diminishing/peeling?) from both lenses. It was on the inside of both lenses only, not the outside of lenses. Both lenses also began this odd occurrence from each inner lens nearest to the nose bridge, in a curved arc. I could take a fingernail, gently scratch this weird "film" and could see my scratch, yet I could NOT remove ANY of this odd "coating". On 3/3/26 I took my son into Stanton Optical to get new glasses and it was an evening appointment and there were two people working, Lina, one of the managers and another girl. When it came time to purchase the glasses, I wanted to get the true-blue added to his main pair of glasses since he is a student and gamer. We were there to do the $79.99 deal and I happen to see the discount for their insurance on the screen when she was putting in the discount for the lens. I didn't even realize Stanton Optical took their insurance. Lina had to manually calculate it, and it was going to cost more than just buying the 2 pairs for $79.99. The system had went down and a discount that was supposed to come off for the lens wasn't coming off so Lina called support and they were having issues as well so she told me that she would give me a call when she figured it out because it was close to closing time. When she called, she left a voicemail and said that they could not add the true-blue and the total was $79.99. The next day during my lunch break I went back up to pay for them, and another manager, Jonathan, was working. I asked why I wasn't able to get the true-blue on them and he called Lina to ask and I could hear her through the phone saying "Good luck she probably can't afford it anyways." I sat there surprised, hurt, confused. What did I do to make her think that I couldn't afford his glasses? I couldn't stay any longer because I was on my lunch break for work and I was already over my time. Jonathan figured out that, in order for the true blue coating to be added, the discount needed to be changed to the Bogo option that was $139.99. Which was totally fine but had I known that I would have brought him back up to look and see if there were any other pairs that he liked instead of the ones he chose since there is a lot larger selection instead of being stuck with the 79.99 frames. I do not appreciate being profiled and discriminated against thinking I was broke and I wouldn't be able to afford the glasses. Since coming to Stanton in December 2024, I have purchased 9 pairs of glasses that have costed me over 600 dollars and only ONE pair was purchased using insurance. It truly is crazy and sad because I would NEVER walk into Stanton Optical and look her pregnant stomach and think "I bet her baby daddy left her and she's about to raise her kid by herself". All because I asked about their insurance. I am very disappointed because this situation should have never been a situation. If Lina is saying this about me, I can only imagine what she is saying about her patients that do in fact use their children's insurance. read more

As a first-time glasses buyer, I was looking for an easy and welcoming experience. Unfortunately, Stanton Optical was anything but that. I initially went in for their 2 for $79 special with a free eye exam. The eye exam itself went fine, but everything went downhill when it was time to pick out frames. I was shown the section that supposedly qualified for the deal, only to later be told the frames I picked were in the "wrong area." Instead of taking responsibility for the store being disorganized, the employee helping me was extremely rude and blamed customers for frames being misplaced--something that should clearly be handled by staff. I ended up leaving without glasses and paying $60 for an eye exam alone. After leaving a review, I received a call from the store saying they wanted to "make it right." I decided to give them a second chance. This time, price wasn't the issue at all--I spent $200 on a frame I actually wanted. I was told my glasses would be ready the same day in a few hours. When I returned at the time I was told, I was then informed that my glasses had to be sent out to be specially fitted. Annoying, but I agreed and was told it would take 10-14 business days. After hearing nothing, I called on day 12 and was told by the manager that my glasses were still in China and to wait four more days. Four days later, I called again--only to be told that they couldn't even complete my order at all. This was incredibly frustrating, especially since I needed my glasses by a certain time for college. I ultimately had to get a refund and start over elsewhere. The moral of the story: this place is unprofessional, poorly managed, and has terrible customer service. What kind of glasses company can't even make the glasses they sell? I went to Walmart Optical afterward and had my glasses within 5 days--no runaround, no excuses. Way to go, Walmart. I was told I was in network. I went; then was told I was out of network and they would "honor" the price. Well, they billed my insurance company and since I was out of network I am ineligible for frames to be covered! Sweet! I asked Stanton to refund my insurance company and I would just take the hit and pay for the exam and was told it was impossible. I told them thank you, I would be leaving a review, not purchasing a thing from them and will never return! Now I am ineligible for frames for two years for a premium I pay for. Great. -10 eye by the way. EDIT: If you want to pay for trial contacts they do not make sure they're what you want, they do not provide a case, they do not provide solution. My mother went in a month ago and is still awaiting additional pairs of trial contacts . Every time she calls, they say that they'll check with the vendor. They gave her three for the right eye and one for the left ( no shoes on mind you). The rep didn't even explain how to use, show or explain that they were month long. My mother used them as daily and wants to get used to contacts aka a trial pair. However, no one responds. In fact, I even called and kept getting bounced around. I spoke to your customer care Noel who once I asked on how they formalize complaints and what is the tracking system I was hung up on. He told me he'd give me the store phone number. I had it. It bounced me to him. He explained an usual high call volume that I would need to try again. Where are the rest of the trial pairs. That's all we want. The lady who was working was really rude. When I came in, she asked what I needed and seemed like she was helping me right away. I was there to get the same day 30 minutes glasses as advertised online. She went to check if they had my lenses, and sure enough, they did and she brought them out! So I asked about how long she thought it would take, and she told me there was no way to tell as there were all these other people in the store waiting ahead of me. She made me feel put down and disrespectful of others, when I had no clue they were waiting for something other than an eye exam which wouldn't be with her. Another worker came in and asked me if I was there for pick up, to which I responded no, I'm here for same day. The lady who talked to me earlier piped in and told her no, and about everyone else who was first and that I was last. I would have told her who was there ahead of me had she started asking me more, I was simply answering the question she had asked me. They couldn't give any sort of estimate on how long it may take either. Maybe if they had answered the phones this morning (I called Stanton customer service and they tried calling the store directly to no avail) from a time when the lady had mentioned they had no one in, this could have been a better experience. read more

I went there for an eye exam today and was told that the computer system was down and they couldn't give me an exam. I asked when the next available appointment was and the receptionist got on the computer and found one. Then she was able to look up all my information on the computer. The computer system that was supposedly down. I asked the receptionist how she was able to get on the computer and look up my info if the system was down....then the truth came out. Despite the negative not so encouraging reviews I found my first experience to be an excellent one. Staff were courteous, kind, and extremely helpful. Covid precautions were maintained. The virtual Eye exam was unique but the eye doctor did allow time for questions and time to rest my eyes during the exam. I actually ended up preferring it versus the old way when the doctor was right up in your face. The frame collection was good and staff did not just steer me to the most expensive frames. Catherine help me finish up with lens measurements and explained in detail the various options that I could have or not have added to my lenses. There were no pressure sales and I felt the price was extremely reasonable. I was informed my glasses would be ready in two weeks. Upon receiving my glasses I will add to this review regarding promptness, delivery, and accuracy of lenses/frames. My first experience with Stanton optical was extremely positive. read more

There was no doctor there, only some lady on a tv screen who was wearing a mask and I had difficulty understanding her. They don't take medicaid which I told them about before driving all the way in. At first I said I didn't have insurance on the phone, then I blurted out medicaid. Maybe she didn't hear me. or didn't care. Was referred to by the website www.superiorvision.com which is who medicaid sent me to first. So maybe they should've told medicaid that they decided not to honor it anymore so that they could've been taken off the website. Honestly wasn't impressed by an exam given to me over a television screen. I though there'd be a real doctor to address some concerns I had. Stanton also needs to update their website because nobody was wearing masks. Which was fine by me, but looking at their website, it says their staff is fully masked. it also says they take insurance. but I suppose that could have exclusions. like if you're only on medicaid and have to borrow a vehicle to drive 50 miles to get to them. read more

Literally ordered my glasses on 6/9/2020 it is now 8/3/2020 without even word of where my glasses are or when they will be in!! They were expensive and now who knows when I will even be able to wear them! I would not recommend this place to anyone!! If you want the WRONG prescription, horrible customer service, and no timely resolution then Stanton Optical is your place! I was on hold so many times and lost in voicemail hell with a Florida person and then they do not communicate with the Davenport location. I have yet to get my contact script corrected and I'm sure they will finish the glasses with the WRONG script as well. Are these even REAL doctors? It's all virtual and robotic. read more
