Have been served by this staff & several doctors over many years. Have always been treated with kindness, interest & respect. Have been seen more than once for emergency situations - promptly, professionally & successfully treated! Even the person who made appointments went above & beyond to get me in ASAP! DO NOT GO HERE!! My experience was horrible from the front desk staff to the doctor. Everyone was very rude and demeaning. I explained my medical concerns to the intake "nurse" and she laughed and rolled her eyes.. very unprofessional. The doctor made it seem like I was crazy and a major inconvenience for wanting a routine eye exam... never again. Stay far away!! read more

I asked for my prescription from my visit in November 2023. I lost my glasses in an evacuation in January 2025. They refuse to give me my prescription and records. I believe it is because I refused to pay cash for a bilateral refraction fee. I am blind in one eye and other facilities have always charge me for one eye not two. The doctor said my vision was basically unchanged & I could forgo the refraction. I had to sign a form agreeing to this. They did not tell me the exam my insurance paid for did not entitle me to a new prescription. This office are frauds and money hungry. They care more about money than patients. I had to go without my glasses for a month before I could be seen in another state. They are rude and could care less about my our anyone else's health. They only care about getting that $75 refraction fee. What a racket since insurance does not pay for refraction they dupe you into paying. I worked for an ophthalmologist for 20 years- I know their racket. They need to be reported to the medical board read more

I was suffering from red eyes and irritation for a few years while visiting them. I was never supposed to be on hard steroids for too long and I was on them for over two years here. At the age of 37 I had to have multiple cataract surgeries because I could not see the fingers on my hands in front of my face. Now they continue to send me a bill for $50 that frankly I am never sending anything to them again, patients or money. University of Iowa has been taking care of my ever since I left ESA! Both staff and Dr Frederick were very knowledgeable And easy to talk to. They broke everything down to English. All the way through med. reducing to eye decompression surgery. Deing single vision for 2 years now. read more

I wouldn't recommend Eye Surgeons to any new patient. I was a patient for years and they would not call me by my preferred name. The staff was rude after I repeatedly asked to be called by my middle name. I was called to come in to an appointment earlier made to wait an hour after eye drops were put in before I was taken back for eye injection. We have been going to them for over 10 years and never had this problem until the Silvis office closed and switched over to Rock Island. The CEO could send a letter with preferred name with no trouble, but staff could not get the name right. read more

I don't think I've ever been treated so poorly anywhere else in my entire life. Today I had an appointment at 3:30pm. I knew I was going to be running late so I gave Eye Surgeons Associates a call to make sure that wasn't going to be a problem, or if they would like me to reschedule. The lady who answered the phone was extremely sweet and said that they allow a 15 minute window for appointments in case of this very situation. I ended up getting there at 3:40pm, just within that 15 minute window. After I got there and got checked in, a girl came out and called out my name. After she called my name she did not wait for me to get up and walk to her, she did not introduce herself to me so I have no clue who this girl is that's "helping" me, instead she rolled her eyes at me, stormed away and must have turned down a hallway without guiding me with her because she was nowhere in sight. When I couldn't find her, she walked back to me, scowled at me and said, "Come on!" Like she was calling her pet dog to follow her. When we got into the exam room she had me sit down and then she said, "You almost missed your appointment, you were 15 minutes late." I tried to apologize, but she interrupted me to say, "You're lucky we didn't cancel your appointment." She then proceeded to confirm my information with me and dilate my eyes while also making me feel bad about being late the entire time. had an appointment for my 5 year old and they had us waiting a whole extra hour in the waiting room.. when we got into the exam room we waited a whole nother half hour then they expected him to not be ansey after an hour and a half waiting in a room with no entertainment. I would give them a 1/2 star if I could. You WAIT like cattle forever in the waiting room for a 5 minute, maybe 10 minute visit with the doctor!!! Ridiculous!! I was scheduled at 8:55a, I expect to wait 10-15 minutes.........it's 10:35a and I am STILL WAITING!!!! read more

I have been a patient at Eye Surgeons Associates for years and am very pleased with the service I receive from check-in to check-out -- prompt, courteous, pleasant. More importantly, Dr. Eckhardt is very thorough and takes the time to explain the results of each examination and ,if necessary to do anything different as a result of the examination, she is careful to let me know what and how. While she is very busy each time I am there, she never appears to be in a rush and takes the time needed to be thorough. When I get new frames or lenses, that department is equally reliable and efficient. There is no reason to think about going elsewhere. Thank you, Eye Surgeons Associates! Office didn't like our yelp review and called today to let my son know they would not continue to see my grandson with this negative review on Yelp. They said it sent a "powerful message". My son explained again that he tried many times to say no to the doctor about using instruments to pry and examine his sleeping eyes, and felt like he was being pressured into going against his better judgment. My son felt like the idea of prying his 3 month old sons eyes open would be severe trauma that was not needed and that they would reschedule for a time he was more alert. Doctor was able to look into his eyes without the instruments just fine after telling him no repetitively. When the Office staff told him that they would not see him anymore because of review, my son told him that's good, we are taking him to Iowa City instead anyway and have a good day. Mid sentence, office person hung up on him. Very unprofessional. read more

Don't get lasik. I got lasik here and I now have terrible night vision, halos, star bursts, dry eyes, foreign sensation in my eye, eye infections, etc.. Keep your glasses. They say lasik is a quick easy painless procedure but it's not. Do research on lasik disasters and watch videos of the procedure before you consider it. Keep your glasses, don't let them cut your eyes. read more

I saw Dr. Chad Kluver to update my soft contact prescription. In addition to a better prescription, he knew about a better brand: Bausch + Lomb PureVision2. I've been wearing this brand since July, and have yet to have any torn lenses...they of course gradually get dirty and need to be replaced about once a month. They are great lenses, I'm seeing in HD (!!!), and he's a great doctor at a great eye care business! I will definitely return, even though I'm moving 3 hrs away. read more

I called to get my elderly mother, who was just put into a nursing home, an eye exam and to have her glasses fixed because she fell and broker her shoulder along with her glasses. My mother has some dementia and they are very aware of this. They would not let me set up an appointment because she had a $20.00 balance on her account. I told them that I am now her power of attorney and I would pay the bill at her next appointment or when I received a bill in the mail which ever came first but they still refused to see her. This company does not care about people at all! I had that opinion when they did her surgeries, now I know it to be absolutely true! I thanked her for not seeing my mother because this is forcing me to take her to someone that cares about their patients. read more

had lasik eye surgery here. worst experience of my life. the doctor cut the flap in my cornea and my eye bled so he had to flush my eyes out a ton of times and use something to stop the bleeding. he said my eye wont heal perfectly because of it. I have dryness and at night my vision is a lot worse. all the lights have a huge halo around them and starbursts. when i see white text on black screens they have a huge halo around them. it's no wonder everyone who works at this place wears glasses. save your eyes and dont get lasik from these guys. read more
