Stan's Burger Shak - French Fries - Burgers Near Me - Hanksville, Utah

Told you we would be back! After exploring Factory Butte and Moonscape Overlook in Caineville, we had to smash a combo at this establishment. Located within a gas station and gift shop, Stans is a great burger joint. Place your order, then stroll to the shop section to browse all the shirts and merchandise. We didn't see any prices posted, so stayed away from the honey trap ourselves. DO NOT SKIP THE SHAKES!! Pick a flavor you haven't had and roll with it. On TV they loop a cool video that shows the highlights of endless cool stuff to see in the area. They cajun fries really stuck out this trip, being super crispy! See you next time when in magical Hanksville! read more

Typical burger place with lots of option. I got the chicken burger and liked that I had the choice of fried or grilled. The buns were a little dense though. Hubby got a salad so also they have healthy options. Kids got the shake and while it was good, it was more like a soft serve consistency. We went during a quieter time and there 1 other family. It took about 10 mins to get our food. The dining area was clean and decor had many interresting "life lesson" quotes. read more

Stan's Burger Shak - Hanksburger with Cheese, Small Fry and Shake - Burgers Near Me - Hanksville, Utah

After visiting Goblin Valley State Park and traveling towards Bryce Canyon, the Fat Man and his wife wanted lunch. Cruising into Hanksville, Utah. We stopped at Stan's Burger Shak. Stan's is a casual eatery dishing up grilled burgers, fries, and shakes near Lake Powell. We decided to split lunch and started with a Banana Shake. It was a very thick vanilla soft serve with good banana flavor and a few chunks of real banana. I like mine a little thinner, but this was a good shake, and they give you a proper amount in the shake. Next up, we went with the double burger and fries. The fries were cooked well with good crunch and seasoned well. They are out of a bag, and the serving size is adequate. The veggies on the burger were fresh and offered good crunch and texture to the burger. The brioche bun was fresh and had a good chew, a slightly sweet and buttery flavor. The American cheese was melted well and offered a gooey texture. The burger sauce was very sweet but helped cut through the burger patties. The patties tasted like they were frozen pre-formed and had minimal seasoning. The burger-to-bun ratio was okay, the patties were thin but not smashed; however, the burger lacked flavor and did not satisfy the palate. Stan's has a full menu of burgers, wraps, fries, onion rings, salads and sandwiches. Pretty much everything you would expect from a roadside burger joint. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. The Fat Man says that Stan's Burger Shak is NOT Fat Man Approved. read more

Stan's is good. Not as good as a place like Five guys on the East Coast, but certainly notable for Hanksville, Utah. Milkshakes are made with soft serve ice cream and are very sweet and rich. There is NO REASON to get any size larger than SMALL. read more

Definitely a must stop place in Hanksville. The burgers are delicious and cooked just right. We even got a "puppy patty" with no salt or seasoning for our dogs. It was pup-approved! Be sure to try their Fry Sauce. The counter service is quick and friendly. There's plenty of seating inside and a dog-friendly patio outside. We always look forward to stopping here on our way through. read more

If you've never been to Stan's before, your eyes will be wide with shock at the monster-sized milkshakes here. While my family was hiking Capitol Reef on a weekday, we bumped into some hikers who highly recommended Stan's for a quick dinner. They raved about their milkshakes and the extensive selection of flavors and the ability to mix and match flavors too. They just forgot to mention the size of the shakes. Hungry after a long day of hiking, my family stopped by Stan's on our way from Capitol Reef to Canyonlands. The exterior is nothing fancy as it shares the building with a truck stop. There are a few covered picnic tables outside, but majority of the seating is inside the restaurant. We walked into the restaurant and up to the counter to order. Next to the counter they have a Trip Advisor Best Fast Food Restaurant of 2022. Their burger/sandwich menu is quite large and includes Hank Burgers (hamburgers), Hank Burgers with cheese (cheeseburgers), Fish Sandwiches, Chicken Wraps, Duke Burgers (bacon cheeseburgers) and many more. You can also order thee burgers as a combo which includes a side and drink. As far as sides, they have French fries, onion rings, Cajun fries (curly fries), jalapeño poppers, deep fried mushrooms, etc. Lastly, their shake menu had at least twenty different flavors including some unique ones like coconut, mango, grasshopper (mint with Oreo cookie), banana cream pie, apple crumble, and peach cobbler. Note that you can upgrade your combo drink to a shake for an extra fee if not already included. I ordered a Hankburger Combo #1 which included a Hankburger, side of fries (I swapped out for Cajun fries), and a milkshake (i got blackberry). Like a typical fast food restaurant, they call your name when your food is ready. We got our shakes within 10 minutes of ordering and our food within 15 minutes. The Hankburger was honestly just passable; nothing extraordinary by any means. The Cajun fries were also just okay. However, my companions ordered the regular French fries and those were the BEST FRENCH FRIES I've ever had in my life. They are not like your ordinary fries; these ones have a delectable crispy coating (cornstarch maybe?) and are fried to perfection. I normally don't like deep fried foods, but these fries were very addicting. As aforementioned, the shakes are HUGE and double the size of height of the soft drink cup it comes in. While the blackberry shake was good, our favorite was the Peach Cobbler milkshake. It had chunks of peaches and pieces of oatmeal crumble adding great texture and taste to an already creamy and thick milkshake- did I mention they serve their milkshakes with a spoon instead of a straw? Overall: 4/5 for food, 4/5 for service, 3.5/5 for atmosphere read more

This restaurant was next door to the motel where I was staying, so dinner was really convenient. It has a Western theme which works given that we're in the Utah desert. They have a good sized menu including ice cream and shakes. I settled on the fish sandwich combo which included fries. The fish was nicely breaded and the taste was outstanding. I can't think of a better fish sandwich. The fries were crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. Perfect for me. I liked the meal so much that I went back the next night for the same meal. I really do recommend this restaurant. Stop by whenever you pass through Hanksville. As an aside, I did not have a shake or ice cream, but the diners next to me were saying how good their shakes were. Sorry I forgot to take a picture of my meal. I just dived right in and finished it off. read more

Stan's Burger Shak - Double cheeseburger w/ lettuce and mayo - Burgers Near Me - Hanksville, Utah

A great affordable option in the Hanksville area, where there are limited restaurant options. They have shakes, hamburgers, sandwiches, and fries - it's a classic burger joint. I got the garden burger twice, and it was decent. Definitely wasn't the best veggie burger I've ever had, but it wasn't terrible either. It came with an aioli and cucumbers, lettuce, tomato, onion. The fries here were actually really yummy. Super delicious! They're extra, not included with your burger order. The space was huge and had plenty of seating. You order at the counter and they call out your number when your food is ready. It was fairly quick service, we never had to wait long for the burgers. The shakes looked delicious but we were too full to try them and they're huge. read more

The burger was a very tasty with an even better milkshake! French fries are beer battered and the staff was extremely nice!

We were so excited to try Stan's, but I have to say, we were very disappointed! First, it started when I ordered a fish sandwich, but received a chicken sandwich. I was going to take it back, but we were in a little bit of a hurry since we wanted to go to Goblin State Park, so I decided to just go ahead and eat the breaded chicken sandwich. The chicken was overcooked, and hard to eat, and it was half the size of my bun. I got a coke, which was flat, by the way.. But, I am giving them 2 stars because the fries were good. We will not be going back to this place. read more

After a long day of hiking at Capitol Reef these burgers and shakes hit the spot. Stan's is great. Is it because you get great food? Or is it because you're on your way to Lake Powell and therefore happy? Or on your way back from Lake Powell and although you are well on your trip there's just nothing like Stan's to hit the spot? Probably all of the above. I've eaten here many times. I love their burgers. I love their Turkey Avocado Sandwich, and I love their Chicken Strips. Their Piccadilly fries are a great break from regular fries....But most of all, I love their shakes, especially their fruit ones....those count as healthy, right? Service is always friendly and you get your food fast. If there's a long line don't worry, it moves pretty quickly. Can't wait to go back on our next Powell adventure. read more

Classic burger and fries spot. It is the best place to eat right before a week at Lake Powell and then again on your way back home. I ordered the turkey avocado sandwich. I liked how fresh and filling it was. This is a menu item that I will continually order. We ordered a side of piccadilly fries to share in our group. They were delicious and something I would order again. Of course, we ordered 2 shakes (large and small pictured, the small is more than enough for me.) There are so many flavors to choose from and the seasonal flavors always sound so good. It's hard to choose which one to order! What I like about Stan's is that there is an option for everyone. The food comes out fast and the milkshakes hit the spot on a hot summer day. Stan's continues to be a family tradition right before our Lake Powell week! read more

The burgers were average and cold. The shakes were pretty good. Fairly good food for being in the middle of nowhere.

Unfortunately, there aren't many restaurant options in Hanksville. Stan's and Blondies are both burger joints and Stan's only bests Blondie's by a small margin. However... Blondie's is now closed, so I suspect Stan's wins by default... After a long day of canyoneering and hiking through the desert, the Double Bacon Cheeseburger from Stan's was pretty good. French fries and Oreo shake were disappointing though. Fries weren't fresh and instead were the typical frozen and fried variety. Oreo shake was runny and over-mixed. If you're traveling through Hanksville and need something to eat, Stan's is OK. But if you can wait, keep traveling, and get something to eat further down the road, I'd recommend it. read more

OMG Do not go past Hanksville without stopping here and enjoying the best burger, fries and shake I have had ever in the whole USA!
