Do not use this company. I scheduled an appointment online to have an 8X10 rug cleaned in my home. Two people showed up and immediately told me they are unable to clean my rug, and it needs to be taken offsite for 2-3 weeks at 3x the price. I called to speak with someone in their office and that person told me I should have known to call instead of making the appointment online. Their online scheduling does not offer the chance to describe what the rug is made of (my fault, apparently). She took no accountability and showed no concern for the fact that my entire morning was wasted waiting for them. This company should not be in business. read more

Mind you she can't do a cleaning of her rugs that's why she hired this company. So if you want your rugs clean i advise you not to use this company. Duct cleaning. not what is sold. They only clean the duct you see. Anything past 7' doesn't get cleaned . the hose will not travel past 7', so if your duct is 20' long you paid for the whole thing and only got a third of the job done. I was told the vacuum cleans the rest, yet you need the air hose for the first 7'. I guess I was born yesterday or am not as smart as my 45 years in construction has taught me.stick your vacuum down the vent and get the same they are charging $500.00 for. read more

Stanley Steemer is a bait and switch and a fraud. We ordered cleaning for a love seat ($89) and our bathroom tile ($47) on the Stanley Steemer website. The crew arrived and told us that the shower floor, which is just an extension of the bathroom floor, is an extra $75. There was no option on the Stanley Steemer website to specify specific parts of the bathroom to clean...it was presented as a flat rate. The Stanley Steemer crew said that they have heard that complaint repeatedly. Right. The bathroom floor to be cleaned is 35 square feet and the shower is 12 square feet. Why would the bathroom floor cost $47 but the shower floor, which is a third of the size, cost $75? When the crew said they were doing us a favor and could charge us $150 for the shower, the shakedown came into focus. As the company was not going to honor its commitment, we pulled the bathroom tile off the order told the crew to just do the love seat. Then Stanley Steemer stole from us. Without our knowledge the crew snuck in a "(MISC) minimum price adjustment" of $36 without showing us the final order authorization. They fraudulently signed the order authorization in our name by claiming "Customer unavailable for signature". We were standing right there. We didn't realize that they had inflated the price of the service without our authorization until they were long gone and we looked at the email receipt. If you use this company, make sure your price quote doesn't include any gotchas and insist on looking at the final order authorization to make sure you're not being overcharged. UPDATE To Darryl F. at Stanley Steemer - I emailed that customer service address when I originally posted this review. Your district manager Maria M. sent a wholly disappointing email offering us a disingenuous $75 off coupon for our next visit (your minimum order is apparently $125). We're obviously never using. your service again. The fact that she wasn't familiar with your website, pricing or terms of service didn't stop her from making several false claims in an attempt to shift responsibility for your crew's unacceptable behavior back to us. My mom is 95yrs young & on oxygen. She ended up in the hospital (not covid, but pnemonia). I was so worried I decided to have the house steamed and disinfected. I decided to call Stanley Steamer (I have used their serves many times). They did everything! My mom's room, mom's favorite chair, floors, carpets, etc. The young men (Joshua Colon, Maurice Colbert) are excellent at what they do. I will be calling them again during this Covid-19. The service was very fast, very thorough and fairly priced. They offer a service to clean hardwood floors that I have used on one of their past visits. I was very impressed with the results on what was a very worn wood floor that hadn't been refinished in over 30 years. We will definitely use it again I didn't use it this time because I am expecting a lot of traffic in that area soon. The service we did get, today, could not have been better. read more

i was able to schedule a same day appointment, which was amazing and actually the associate arrived promptly within 1 hour of making it. He was very courteous, helpful and professional. I had a microfiber sofa, chair and ottoman steam cleaned, deodorized and protected. In addition, while the technician was there I also decided to have the bathroom grout cleaned, which he was happy to accommodate. I regret it took me so long to explore the services offered by Stanley Steemer. The furniture looks, feels and smells great and the floor looks amazing as well! I think the pricing was fair considering the pet and kid order and grime over MANY years he was dealing with. Made an appointment weeks ago for today, was given an arrival window of 12pm to 6pm, you'd think a day or two before they'd know where you are on the schedule and they could tell you if it's closer to noon or afternoon, they obviously know if you're the first or last stop. I took a day off work, lost a day's pay and vacation day, at 6pm no show no call. Wasted an entire day probably waiting for to two kids who really don't care about anything, called customer service and they we none to happy to just say, sorry sir we'll go ahead and cancel that appointment for you. Again, I waited the entire window of 8am to 1pm. I called asking for a window and was told I would at least know an hour before the end of the window. I called again at 12:15pm to be told they were late and would not be available until 1:30pm. I could not conduct my own business this way. In addition, I was told that the 'special' applicable to wall to wall carpet doesn't apply to area rugs - which meant an over $500 charge for two area rugs which would have been at $127 charge if they were smaller and wall to wall. . BEYOND frustrated w Stratford location. Techs came Tuesday, and said they saw a dead mouse in a vent. NOT TRUE, but they wouldn't open the vent to be sure. Told us we had to call an exterminator and then show them proof there was not an "infestation" before they would come back. Called in an exterminator. NOT A MOUSE. There are NO MICE in our home. It was a small PIECE OF INSULATION- so now I'm stuck w an exterminator bill and ducts not cleaned. If Stanley took TWO SECONDS to actually looked closely in the vent instead of panicking, we could have avoided the exterminator nonsense. Made an appointment online to have my carpets cleaned- very easy to use website. Received a call at 9:00 saying they were on the way- I like this because my window was from 9-1. Dante Griffin arrived at 10:00am from location # 047 (Stratford, CT) and asked what stains I would like worked and anything else to be completed. He had this amazing hot steam vacuum and it got rid of the stains. Upon completion, he asked if there were any other spots I would like him to go over. My 2,000 sq ft basement apartment got exposed to level 3 sewer water. It was excavated, aired out and sat there for months before insurance settled with us. When cabinets, carpets flooring is all pulled out a lot of dust is left behind. In that time it became even more dusty and even some spiders UHG‍! Alas I saw The Stanley Steemer advertisement on TV that day and they do industrial cleaning. I thought I'll call for a quote, I don't have a carpet but my job isn't industrial. They did it the day they looked. It was THE BEST IDEA I have made in long time. It was beautiful after this service. If you have had some carpets pulled up or an area of your house renovated and want the area steam cleaned before they lay it all back down, whether it's wood or drywall areas or cement, this will give you back the original freshness that you crave. And the technician who came to my house was a super nice and professional. I wasn't standing behind him as he was working. I just saw it after and I'm telling you, he is the kinda guy that makes me proud to be an American, just the care and attention to all the areas was way more than I imagined he could've done. Wasted 2 days of work waiting for stanly steamer to arrive . My 1st appointment the guy came to tell me that because I'm on the 3rd floor they need to bring a portable. So they came out on Monday and brought a portable that looked like it went through World War II. It left my carpet soak and wet and I'm not sure how long it's going to take to dry now but it doesn't even look that good. So if you ever need a portable clean you're better off doing it yourself and not wasting the money. I'm very disappointed for a company that big they should have a new portable not an old beat up one that doesn't do its job. Very sad... read more

Made an appointment and received a window of between 2pm and 6pm ..... for carpet cleaning ! They showed up 20 mins before the window closed ....of course ! The gentleman didn't introduce himself but just came in and asked which carpet . We showed him and he said that he couldn't clean that as it was ground in traffic area ! Really then why do we clean our carpets ? He never even tried ! Just very poor customer service as he was negative from the start ! They came out to clean two chairs, my stairs, and a hallway. Donterell and Amanda were very polite and honest saying the could get my rugs clean but the worn traffic area would still look worn. I knew that already so there were no surprises. They use a mild detergent to aid in getting rid of allergy pathogens which is important to me. Use literally anybody else! I scheduled an carpet cleaning for 2 normal sized bedrooms for a Saturday 12:00-3:00pm window (the second or third window of the day, this will be important later). I have a toddler, who I sent to grandma for the weekend because cleaning stuff isn't so good to breath in. Around 1PM, with no notice that they are on their way, the crew of two are knocking on my door. After greetings and looking the space over, they jump right to up selling on a service that is 2/3 more than what I signed up for. When I say no they go downstairs to get their machine. That's when the trouble began. The two men come back into my apartment and say that their dispatch gave them the wrong power cord to their machine and so they can't do the work and I will need to reschedule for Monday. I ask what sort of cord, and they said it's an extension cord. Thankfully I have a 25 foot extension cord. Then they say they need two. Good thing I have a power strip! They try to fake like they can't use a power strip (figuring I don't know how power outlets work, I guess). I tell them to bring the machine up. This begs the question--what has they been doing all day if they didn't have the right cords?! Given the 3 hour windows, why couldn't they drive 20 minutes from Norwalk to Stamford to get the cords? The boss leaves his tablet on my counter unlocked, showing the names, addresses, and phone of all their calls for the day. If you like privacy, don't use Stanley! They bring up their machine, which looks like it was a rental machine thrown out by a crackhead bodega back in the Bush 41 administration. We plug it in, and they start saying how they hope this works because they have seen the machine make people's electrical systems catch fire. Uhm, if your machine causes fires, maybe use a different one?! The machine leaks live a sieve, all over my wood floors. The men are wearing boots, which leave prints all over said floor. The work is done surprisingly quickly. They once again try to upsell me. They tell me I need to wait 6-8 hours for the carpets to dry. This is disappointing because the last time my carpets were done it only took 1 hour. They don't have any way to clean up the mess they made on my wooden floors so I offer some paper towels. They use about 2 paper towels and clean up a few drops of the quart or so of water that dripped onto the floor. No apology is made and they leave. Looking through the nursery I notice a section is a different color. I touch and it's bone dry. About 1/8 of the nursery carpet was untouched by the machine. Looking through the bedroom, under the bed was bone dry (despite their saying they cleaned under the bed). Easily 1/4 of the room was undone. That's when it hit me--they tell you to wait 8 hours so you can't tell they didn't do 1/4 of the work. I call around 2:30, and the surly customer service rep say they can either come back Monday, or file a report. They can try to come back today between 2 and 6 (it was already 2:30), but couldn't guarantee it wouldn't be the same crew of lazy incompetents with their fire-prone machine and no power cords. I received a text at 3:11 that they are on their way. If it's the same crew, they are not welcome in my home and I will be filing a chargeback with Visa. Tl; dr: Stanley steamer takes 100% of your money for 75% of the work, scam you into not checking on them, and their machine may set your house on fire. Update: 3:40 and the same crew showed up. The boss was all pissy at me, saying that they suck up all the water and that's why it's dry (then why 8 hours?). He also says doesn't work under beds, only as far as his tool reaches (2 inches, apparently). When I showed him the mess he made, he laughed at me, in my own home. That's when I asked him to leave. Customer service is unable to help as no managers work on weekends (no wonder the employees are such slackers!). I called Chase and started a chargeback (Chase were super nice!). read more

The rude receptionist barely looks at me and says he's not taking anymore people. I told her I'm scheduled to meet with him at 10 am and she says "he's not taking anymore people" again no eye contact. This was a complete waste of my time. Unprofessional is an understatement. 10/18/2021: NEGATIVE REAL REVIEW. Do not use this company for air duct cleaning. Two service guys showed up on time, courteous. They did their thing while I did my wfh desk job in kitchen. Soon I found myself coughing repeatedly and couldn't figure why. They finish, I quickly walk around house, seems okay, I pay, they leave. All seemed good. Then an hour later I break from my work for lunch and walk around the house and looking at all surfaces I now see a thick layer of dirt dust on everything. Literally everything everywhere throughout the house covered, not with little bit of dust, but with good thick layer of dirt dust. I go down to furnace and much dirt on floor they never vacuumed up. WOW. They might have cleaned out most of dirt dust from air ducts, but now it is all over all surfaces in my house including all my clothes where I did not have my closet doors shut. Now I need to spend hours cleaning everything. Really??!! This company gets a grade "D". DO NOT USE THEM. UPDATE 10/24/20: Area manager calls me as result of my negative experience. He offers to clean my house; I decline offer given that I would never trust this company to "clean" when they did the opposite initially. Filled out form online and took the 5-room special price of about $275. It's $99 first room, as on TV, and then less for each room you add. They arrived same day and said no, would be much more because I had area rugs, even though area rugs have LESS sq footage than wall to wall(obviously), and most of them were covered by furniture and only the traffic areas needed cleaning. Actually less than 50% of each rug needed to be cleaned. They wanted double the online estimate so I said no thanks and sent them along. read more

In my opinion, The Stanley Steemer branch located in Stratford, CT is one of the worst businesses that I ever encountered. It is totally unprofessional...it seems like a total scam operation that has a main focus to charge outrageous prices without any warranty. My experience included only one man showing up with 6 months training, a second truck with two men without any supplies on the truck, and a manager that seemed to be a con artist with an intent to just sell. As you can guess, I denied their services after wasting my entire day and evening waiting for their services. In addition, this branch did not provide the services advertised on the main website. The entire episode was a nightmare that will never be forgotten! By the way, Daryl F from Stanley Steemer requested my contact information after this was posted.
