Horrible quality and value for what we paid. First thing they said when walking in was that our sectional was too big so charged and extra $140. They finished our four bedrooms upstairs in about 10 minutes and just hit the main middle spots. Down stairs in our living room was the worst. They seperated our sectional and broke off two pieces to put it back together and didn't tell me until I found it hours later. They also left black streaks across the floor that they cleaned up once I requested. For any cleaning products there was of course another fee and house was left messier than when they came. Also, it's 2026 now, surprised they have to leave the door open with the 30 degree weather out to let all the heat out. Overall lazy, rushed and zero attention to details. read more

What they are really good at is not taking any responsibility for damages that they have done. Chipped tile under kitchen vent...Dented main air intake duct that makes loud popping noise every time air conditioning starts and stops...Expected a much better care for my property. It's just very upsetting that you go with "the Best" and more expensive company and this is what you get. Can NOT recommend unfortunately. P.S.: they broke that piece of a tile off and instead of giving it back to me so that I can possibly fix my flour they instead preferred to throw it away and cover the job up in hopes that I will not see it. First off where to restore so Stanley said were coming to clean my stairs in my home and also my couch. My couch was a brand new all-white couch, and the person who came and did my couch. Did such a horrible job left inside my couch and just pretty much took all the fluff out, but not only that they took a rug for my home to be cleaned not telling me after the rug has been there with them for over 90 days and have been sitting with a stain in it that all you have to pre-pay before they send it off to even be Cleaned. No complaints about the duct cleaning service but very unhappy that one of the technicians knocked on of our clocks off the wall, breaking a piece of trim and damaging the drywall when it fell. The same technician dropped a large air vent grate and gouged a chunk out of our brand new Armstrong Audicity plank flooring. Terrible service, had our area rugs sent out to be cleaned and they assured us during the quote they would be brought back in packaging and clean and available for us to use when we were ready as our house was being remodeled. We spent around 800 dollars for this service to be completed and just recently went to roll them into our desired space to find they were not clean at all... we ended up renting a rug cleaner and the stuff we removed was like they had done nothing. Upon calling management they informed me there was nothing they could do because it was too long and they can't verify that we didn't re dirty them or store them in a dirty place despite the sealed packaging we had just removed... please do yourself a favor and don't trust them with any of your needs unless you are there to witness it yourself and sign off on it. It's terrible we live in a world where company's accept such poor customer service. I sent two area rugs out for cleaning with this company, it took almost two months before I got them back. I have not yet opened them from the packaging as I am replacing the flooring in my current home, but I am so afraid those carpets will not be cleaned at all, just by the way they treated me when they came to pick them up. today I had my carpet cleaning appointmen. I am not happy at all. this was my first ever using a carpet cleaning company and I chose Stanley Steamer. Never again will I use this company. I paid for 3 rooms due to not having an option online to only do up to 2 rooms. I didn't get 3 rooms cleaned and shouldn't have been charged for three rooms. on top of that my carpet looks exactly the same like it hasn't been cleaned at all. it looks like it's been vacuumed and thats it. the guy was very polite and explained things to me which I did appreciate but this could have been a better job. maybe if it was multiple people working on it I don't know. but I'm very unhappy. read more

I am very surprised with the bad reviews. i have had Stanley Steemer in my home once or twice per year for many years. I order online the services I'd like. The workers always are pleasant, efficient, and will gladly make changes to the order as desired or needed. I pay a lot of contractors to help keep up my home and the prices and workmanship by Stanley Steemer has always been appreciated. Maybe it depends on your area. In my area it is a very well-run business. They are coming to my home again tomorrow. I think there are some 'bad' customers and probably some 'unusual and bad' outcomes. But I wish more people that are pleased with the service would write reviews. read more

Stanley Steemer cleaned the carpet in my rental house and defecated in the toilet leaving fecal matter in the toilet, streaks if you will. I called to complain and the 800 number took the info and left a message for the local chapter and said they'd follow up with me but they didn't. I called back and the receptionist said they closed out the complaint. Was told again they would reach out to me about it but that never happened. I did miss a call but no voicemail so may or may not have been Stanley Steemer. Because if this I wouldn't recommend Stanley. Had air duct cleaning. Like others have mentioned, the vents they put back were covered in dust, debris all around the vents. Somehow we ended up with an extra vent when they left? They were also nice enough to leave an air filter in our HVAC that was that was basically covered in tape that didn't allow any air to go through. I'm sure that helped the life of the unit. read more

This is hands down the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I had the carpets cleaned in one room in our house, hoping it would look cleaner and smell better. It made the smell even worse (HOW?!). The guys who came out left water all over my hardwood floors, tracked dirt back into the carpeted room, and were in and out in less than 5 minutes. When I called the next day, I spoke to someone named Anita and she told me it was my fault they smelled worse because my room did not have a ceiling fan and that I should have known cleaning carpets would bring all of the odors out and actually make it smell worse in some cases. No refund and she ended the conversation by yelling at me. Do not waste your money here. Absolutely appalled. read more

SS came to my home to shampoo rugs. The guy suggested that most of them be taken into shop so they could clean the fringe. He also said they would relay them and took pictures where they were, but when they came back, they said they do not lay rugs. We were gone for several months, but we found when we returned, the fringe was gone on ¾ of the end of one rug with a 2" slit also. The other end has no fringe on 2" and a 1" slit. I can understand that the rug got caught and torn the fringe off but the slits, I have no idea why they are there. I have called SS many times over 6-7 months and "Sandra" has to call back but she never has and has not ever been in when I call. Wow, what a job that must be! At this time I am tired of calling SS to just be given the run around but I'm out of town again for several months, so I'll have to move this off to my attorney, but I should not have to as this is something that SS could take care of if they chose to be honorable. Honestly, they had a lot of nerve to deliver these rugs in this condition and not mention it. The total bill was over $750 and for that I don't expect a rug that is ruined. Actually 2 rugs as it is in a room with a matching rug that won't be usable either without the mate. I can only suggest that SS not be given another chance to do the same to more rugs.....but since it was not mentioned, they might do it more than we would expect and take it as routine. How terrible to think of that issue. But "Sandra" obviously knows the issue otherwise why would she be avoiding me and hoping I will go away? read more

Very pleased with the Stanley Steemer representative that came to our home. He was courteous and professional. He did a great job with minimal disruption to our household. My carpets look almost as good as new. Considering they are over 20 years old...that is fantastic! Everything dried within 24 hours, even though it was a very humid day. We had several spots on the carpet from cats throwing up. Travis was able to remove every single one. We also had a dark spot under a recliner. He explained what caused it and how to prevent it in the future. Great customer service! I thought the cleaning was reasonably priced, especially consider the result. My only suggestion to the company would be a smaller window for the appointment. Even if they called the day before or that morning and gave you a more exact time. They told us "between 8 and 1". My 72 year old mom ordered carpet cleaning to help after getting a new puppy. There were numerous spots on the carpet where the dog had had an accident. When she ordered the Stanley Steemer service, they had agreed upon spot treatments preceding the cleaning, and de-odorizer and protectant following the cleaning. The team was there for less than 15 min. They did none of the extra services that she paid for. They even told her that the de-odorizer and protectant were all in the same solution as the cleaning liquid (which I later learned from the Stanley Steemer Rep is false). When I called the company to take care of it, they would offer no refund, even partial. They only offered to come out and inspect it or redo it--to which we were not interested. While the cleaning itself was terrible, the business model for taking care of customer complaints was even worse. At the end, they offered me a partial gift card which given that I would never use them again, felt like a slap in the face. read more

Pretty terrible experience on 9/20/18. After renewing my lease at my apartment, I decided it would be nice to get the bedroom carpet cleaned. Since I only have one room of carpet, I figured I should tack on the sofa and chair just to make their trip worthwhile. When I scheduled the week prior, I was told that they should be at my place between 8-930 AM, and that I should be the first customer of the day since I scheduled the first time window. I took a half day off of work (morning) in order to get this done. At 930, no one had called or showed up. I called the main line and was told that they were "held up" at another customer's and that they should be at my place at 1015. Interesting that they went somewhere else first since I was specifically told during scheduling that I'd be the crew's first home that day. Nevertheless, I asked if someone could call me if they were going to be any later than 1015, since I needed to be at work by 1. The dispatcher said of course. Well, at 1020, there was still no sight of the crew (and of course, no call from Stanley Steemer). I called the main line again and was told "they're on their way." I wasn't given any kind of apology for them running late. I asked the dispatcher if there would be a discount for being late, and she said to "discuss this with the crew." They finally showed up at 11 AM, 90 min after the end of the scheduled window. I live in a 3rd floor apartment, which necessitates the use of their "portable" machine. They got started, and immediately my apartment power went out because their machine blew the fuse. The guys said that this "kept happening" at their previous customer's residence, too. Gee, do you think you should warn people that your machine will continually blow fuses at your average apartment? My fuse box is locked up, so I had to call my leasing office to get someone to come out to unlock it due to the fact that they blew the fuse, and my power was now out. The Stanley Steemer guy had the nerve to tell me that "they'd wait 15 minutes, but if was going to be any longer, I'd have to reschedule my service." Seriously? After you were 2 hours late? And it was your machine that continues to blow fuses? I was so frustrated. Luckily, my apartment complex was able to respond and unlock the fuse box within their desired 15 minute window. The guys then proceeded to clean, switching the fuse every 10 minutes. At one point, one of the guys asks if he could use my restroom. I said of course. Later, after they left, I found that he left my toilet clogged. Lovely. Ya know, the cleaning wasn't bad, but with that kind of service, who would call them again? read more

I had Stanley Steemer out to our home on 12/5/17 for the air duct cleaning service and had several complaints about the service. I placed a call last month to the Cincinnati office with these same complaints and never heard back from management. Here are the complaints I had: - The lead tech of the crew that came to our house made it clear he "preferred not to do the air duct cleaning work" and seemed very frustrated the entire time he was here. I heard a lot of sighing and "blowing air out" as he was working in our basement. - Many of the air vents were over-tightened when they put them back up and were either slightly bent or not replaced properly. One of the return vents was put on upside down (which we had to fix after they left) and in one spot they actually cracked the ceiling directly above one side of the vent. - None of the vents were cleaned before being replaced as described in the video on the website. - Debris was left on the carpet and floors under most of the vents. I was surprised they didn't have a vacuum to use to clean up their mess afterwards. - They didn't do any cleaning inside the furnace unit. - Some of the vents had black fingerprints left on them. We were happy they seemed to clean the air ducts and showed us before & after pictures; however, they failed to keep the areas they worked in clean and didn't put our vents back the way they were in most cases. I even had to have someone come back out to clean our steps where they left black marks from the dolly they used to get the mobile unit down into our basement. This was a very bad experience and I don't plan to re-hire Stanley Steemer for any future work in my home. read more

If there was an option to not give any stars, that would be my choice. I had them come today to clean my bathroom floor and it doesn't look like they did anything to it. When I called to tell them they needed to come back and do it better or give me a refund, they basically told me they had to discuss with the technician who came to make sure our stories lined up. If I'm paying someone to perform a service, and that service is not acceptable, I have every right to demand it be done correctly- as advertised on their website and media ads. Today I paid $285 to have my stair rugs and rec room rug cleaned and to have my kitchen grout cleaned and sealed. The grout looks worse than it did before. Two men came out and did the "cleaning." They were here less than 40 minutes. Now the grout is sealed with the dirt sealed in. It was hard to tell that there was a problem when the two men were here since the floor was wet. But when the floor dried it was obvious that the grout looked dirtier than ever. The flooring is two years old. Last year it was sealed by another company and looked good. This year it looks as though the floor had never been cleaned. read more

There was an $85 coupon for Stanley Steemer and I needed my bathroom tile cleaned. I'd put on the internet quote page that this would require portable since it's an apartment and there is no close entry for their truck. It didn't change the quote but there was, to be fair, something stating that it might cost a bit more for that so I was expecting a price change. They showed up at the appointment time I'd requested but said they were only here to look at it and they'd have to schedule another time to come back out. They then told me it'd be an additional fee for the portable which I expected and then they said it would be another additional fee because of it having 1" tiles. When I asked how much there wasn't any computation, the guy told me it'd increase the total price w/ the cleaning and color sealant to $140. So $55 more not quite double but not horrible. I later that day received an invoice for $107 so I thought "great so it actually only ended up being $22 more). I had to actually call back the next day to get the appointment time (they had said they might come the next day but never called) and today they sent two new guys out. They went through the same spiel about the 1" tile but this time they wanted an additional $150 for the 1" tile on top of the $107 so this guy wanted $257, about triple the original price, to do a 6x6 floor which with the vanity and toilet was probably closer to 20sq. ft. I honestly don't know what a fair price would be to clean and seal the floor, it could very well be $257. My problem is that they pulled me in w/ the $85 "special" then wasted my time one day sending guys out to look and give me a different price and then again today with me waiting around for them just to get a 4th price (when counting the $107 "invoice"). I'd avoid these guys at all costs. At the very least they're very unprofessional. read more

Horrible - According to the corporate website video's they claim they use a different process of cleaning air ducks - Where other companies bring in a vacuum cleaner into your home to suck the dust in the vents into a vacuum cleaner which makes a mess Stanley Steemer claims that their vacuum cleaner is built into their trucks for better suction, less mess and they take the take away the 40 lbs of dirt & dust - Just watch their video for yourself on their website - When they showed up to do the work they pulled out a vacuum cleaner to bring into the house - When we questioned about the video we watched their employees knew what we were talking about - They just said we do not have those trucks in Cincinnati, Ohio - But we waited for over two weeks for this appointment so that we could have that exact truck - The people at the corporate office who you made the appointment with would not have known what cities have those trucks and what cities don't have those trucks - So at the end of the day Stanley Steemer is selling a service in Cincinnati, Ohio that they can not do according to their video on their website - They are no better than the other companies but are charging more - Crazy read more

I had used SS once before in another city and state and was happy with it. I live in an apartment (great room - living & dinning room), 2 bedrooms (one bedroom would only be traffic area) and hall. Believe was overcharged for this work. Workers were in a hurry, didn't want to move a love seat and had a bad attitude. And probably most important feel carpet still not clean and can see marks from cleaning machine. I would not recommend using them and will not use them in the future. read more

My carpets were clean but Stanley Steemer left way too much water in them. Took 3 days to fully dry, enough time for mold to set in but, I don't think I have any, luckily. The last time, I ask that they suck out more of the water but still too wet. I don't think I will use them again. read more

I had three rooms cleaned today. The two men moved all the designated furniture so that the carpets could be cleaned. They were careful with my furniture and did a great job cleaning my carpets. The job was completed in a very reasonable amount of time with no rushing to get the job done. I've never had an experience with Stanley Steemer like this one. I had arranged for them to clean my 90 yr old aunt's apartment on a day when we sure she was gone (gets easily stressed by services like this). When I booked the job I told them it was an apartment but they when the guys came to clean, they said they didn't have a "portable" machine to get into her apartment. I was frustrated but agreed to let them reschedule for the next day (yesterday). Then a manager called and apologized, which was nice. Then yesterday I had another call telling me they'd be there in 30 min. so I let my aunt know, let her apartment mgr. know. But 2-3 hours go by and they hadn't shown up. So I called their 800# again, spoke to a manager who told me he really "didn't know what was going on" but that their van with the portable unit was 30 min. from my aunt's house (and this was at 3:30pm). He wasn't sure when they would get to my aunt's because they were so busy. I initially agreed to have them still come but ended up canceling because the apartment manager's day ended at 5pm and she wouldn't have been there to let SS in the building. Never been so frustrated, stressed and treated with little care from a company who has typically been very professional in all my previous dealings. And not to mention how stressed out it made my elderly aunt, who definitely cannot handle stress! Not going to be a customer of Stanley Steemer again! read more

I have used Stanley Steemer in the past and have been very pleased but this time was different..........Someone called on the day of the appt and said the rep was on the way, well...2 hours later no one had come! I called and they looked into it and said someone would be over right away. Another hour went by and no one -not a phone call or anything. I called back and AGAIN they looked into it, this time someone was there in about 15 minutes. The rep never apologized or mentioned anything about being so late-he actually was rather standoffish to me. I never said anything to him specifically but I think an apology was in order at the very least! When I made the phone calls I was told a manager would be calling me and touching base with me but nobody ever did. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. The carpet cleaning was ok but I've had other companies do just as good a job and with better customer service. I'm not sure I will call Stanley Steemer again.
