We love this place! The atmosphere is nice, private, and has an upscale feel to it. We particularly like the seasonal menu and food/drink specials. Last night we noted they are doing a 90's theme with a super cute menu displayed in a CD case! Our service is always excellent. We have enjoyed all the servers but my son's favorite is Karina. She remembers our order and is super efficient with refills and frequent check ins. The kids love the filet mignon, spinach and artichoke dip and we just tried the chimichurri steak tips which were super flavorful. We went for my child's birthday dinner and we received a signed card, a birthday hat and a free dessert! We enjoy family meals as well as going for a date night at this location. Haven't been to Stanfords since before the pandemic so we were excited to meet up with friends for dinner. Made reservations so we were immediately seated. My go-to meal I always ordered was their blackened salmon with rice and asparagus. I was so happy to find out that it is still available and so that is exactly what I ordered. It was delicious! I didn't realize it came with a sauce over the salmon, although tasty, it was a bit too much for my liking. Asparagus and rice cooked perfectly. Espresso martinis tasted wonderful however, the drinks were maybe 3/4 full and for the price, would expect more. For dessert, had a chocolate martini and it was not only good but received a full drink. Consensus around the table was that the portion sizes seemed to be smaller and the prices higher. I love brunch. Good poached eggs plus coffee plus good service = happy Janet. This was an almost perfect brunch experience. The good: -There was no line at 11 am when they open. It was not crowded. Nice. -Our server was fabulous. I'm sad I didnt get her name. -Coffee was good with real cream in little pitchers. -The music was loud but when my dining companion asked to have the volume turned down it was easily and graciously remedied. - I requested small ojs. They don't have that so she only charged us for one large one which I thought very kind. - A warm, free little cinnamon roll with yummy frosting was brought before our food. It was tasty.Nice touch. - The food was pretty damn delicious. It really was. The not quite perfect: - Companion's omelet was a little bit too salty. I think because each component was salty ( salmon, brie, eggs, caramelized onions, and sauce.)It was not inedible however it was still very tasty and nicely put together. -My eggs benedict had little hard unnecessary bits of bacon crumbled on top. And the Canadian bacon slice under each egg was a little thin and small. ( But the poached eggs were beautiful which is rare). -It is just a little bit expensive. The omelet, for example, was about $15. -Why can't they offer a small oj? Really though this was a very positive experience. I will go back. They have a nice variety of brunch offerings and yummy cocktails if youre so inclined. I imagine the patio would be nice in better weather, too. Always come to Standfords for their awesome happy hour. I think the selections that they have are great with very reasonable prices. I've literally gotten most of everything on the happy hour menu and they all taste great. The salads are great especially the ahi tuna salad and their crusted walnut Brie is amazing as well! Never had a problem with the staffs here, they're kind and do their job well. read more

Their website says you can get a 100$ gift card and you will earn a 20$ bonus card. I stopped in to get one, as I have most every year, and the woman rings me up. I ask about the 20$ bonus card and she said there is no such thing. At that point, the manager comes over. She is very rude about the whole thing and says their new owner, Ascend, is not participating in that. Their own website says otherwise but she said they were not. I, nor she, is sure if Portland City Grill (or any Landry's owned names) are either. Anything labeled RUI can no longer be trusted. I sent an email directly to RUI and they never responded either. I will not be spending money at any of these restaurants for about a year or so. I am hoping by then, RUI is completely dismantled and they are running as separate entities. Another thing the manager told me, is they are no longer accepting gift cards from any other RUI branded restaurants...only Stanfords. Then she said that they will be splitting up points earned through the rewards program. They will divvy up what was spent at Ascend owned places versus Landry's owned. This is an absolute nightmare and no one knows what's going on. I hope they figure it out before they lose any loyal customers they had left. read more

1 PM on Sunday there is nobody in the bar and they are telling me there is going to be a wait...there is literally one person in the bar. I requested seating for two. A party of five walked in and was seated right away in the restaurant. I asked the host why I was not being seated when there was one person in the bar and every single table and booth was open he said because they only had one bartender. I asked if he could seat me regardless and I would be happy to wait for the bartender he said no that I had to wait. He walks away someone else walks up as a host three people walk in he's getting ready to see them in the bar?? I said how are you sitting them when I have to wait and I'm waiting for a table for two... so the other host seated me I told him none of the made sense...frustrating. When we did finally get seated we were so frustrated by our service by that host we decided to go somewhere else this is not the Stanford's that I used to spend many weekends at very very disappointing and your menu is awful!! read more

I Stanford's @Tanasborne. They have the best Vanilla milk shake there compared to the other locations. I am a Happy Hour junkie. I always get great service (maybe because I am so regular, have been going there for over 3 years), waiters are nice, courteous and friendly, and desserts are delicious too. Crispy Halibut Fish Tacos: Very good... the fish by itself was awesome, and double tacos dampened the taste (we ate after taking off one of the two wrapper tacos)... the guacamole & rice that came with it were great too. My Stanford's happy hour has unfortunately become an unhappy hour . Prior to the covid shutdown, Stanford's Tanasbourne was my favorite place for happy hour. The bar was cozy and inviting, and the menu had a great variety of delicious options. I was so excited when they reopened, but was so disappointed with the changes. No more cozy with the bright white trim, and the happy hour menu was blah. I gave it another chance tonight, thinking maybe they just needed more time to get their groove back. Not. Oh, how far this once great restaurant has fallen! Every time we come here it's worse. It took forever to get our food. The beer cheese soup finally came out, warmish and weird. The house salad had old lettuce and cold greasy bacon. The wedge of focaccia was cold and had unmelted garlic butter smeared on top. I ordered the ribeye to try to stay away from all the flavor robbing breading and goop/sauce, and it was so salty I could not eat it. Salad drowning in salad dressing, mostly battered and fried everything and overly large portions. I'm sorry to leave this review but I feel other consumers need to be aware and to help this establishment improve. Food was on par with Applebees for reference. Applebees is fine, but the prices here were 4-5 times higher than Applebees... We did not have the steaks as they were well over $60.00 on average. Decor was past its prime and It smelled like a cross between lemon pledge and and day care inside. This alone kept me from splurging on the steak. Trust your instincts! Staff was disconnected, but that is pretty standard anymore. This feels very much like a desperate franchise going under. read more

My wife and I came in after some great news to celebrate. I had the halibut with a shrimp topping. The fish was cooked fine however the topping on both our plates were way to salty. I asked if this is normal and the waiter did not have much to say. Price is to high for quality. Good luck probably won't be back and will not recommend this restaurant as we live in an area with awesome food at a better price. read more

I came with my friends for Fourth of July dinner. I had some reservations at first, as the menu didn't seem that exciting, but they were definitely right that everything was good. Our server, Mary E., was attentive and friendly, as was the host. My friend's beer cheese soup tasted just right. The portobello mushroom appetizer we shared was flavorful and fresh. I loved the crispy leeks! For my main dish, I got the grilled chicken Baja street tacos. I was impressed by the size of the tacos and the fact that there was actually a nice piece of chicken in each taco. The avocado salsa and slaw had good flavor. I felt the rice was a bit greasy, though I thought it tasted good, and the tricolor chips were nothing too exciting. I think they maybe tried to refresh them in the fryer which made them a bit greasy. More than enough food though, so I have leftovers for lunch. read more

I do not know if the competition is getting better or Stanfordsis getting worse? The bottom line is I have been coming here since 2000 but never go any more. The service in the bar area is good but typically horrible in the dining area. The food is over priced and generally crappy. They really do not deserve 2 stars but for old times sakes they get it.
