Interesting selection of jazz to metal vinyl. Found quite a few things..Coltrane, Kraftwerk and Stone Temple Pilots. Prices are a bit high but all records were new. I will be back.

Accessibility: there isn't any accessible/handicap parking near the store so you would have to find a spot in front of the store or park a little farther. The ramps to get onto the sidewalk are a few doors down on both sides, no ramps directly in front of the store. The door to enter the building is a pull/push door but it was left propped open. Inside they play music which is a moderate to loud level. Experience: this place is awesome! The employees are really nice and they have tons of records for one dollar. The more popular records are 20 to 35 dollars, but most are under 20. I definitely recommend checking this place out!

Yelpers are usually spot on. And I was hopeful. But not such luck. Good vibes. Great people. And a picked over selection. If Tshirts are your thing, then come here. All in all does not merit a visit.

Standards is a super cool record store in Vista Village! I was looking for a record store to film at for my school project and saw this place on yelp! Colin is the owner and he was super chill. He let me and my friend film inside and kept playing awesome music on his record player. After I finished filming, I was able to enjoy the store and look at the great selection of records. Standards carries new releases, as well as classic records. They also have a $1 section where you can look through a bunch of older records and pick what you like! I have never been to such a great and affordable record store like this one. I will definitely be returning to peruse through the different crates of records spanning such a range of dope genres. If you enjoy collecting and listening to records, Standards is the best place to go!

Ask the Community - Standards: A Record Store

Are the records expensive? Like what is the least expensive and most expensive records? Also do they have new albums that have come out recently?

They have $1 records that you can fill a milkcrate for $25. They have used records as low $4 and newer records at a range comparable to other shops. Really depends on what you are looking at. They have a diverse collection and it is really worth…

I've been lookin for how do I say oldies records ya know 50s type of music and some Sinatra as well would I find records like that here?

Yes yes yes

Do they carry patches of metal bands?

Yes. At least they did.

Old school, but old and new music is available and if you are looking for something, they may hold it or order it for you. For those of us who grew up in the 80's and 90's, we saw vinyl die and come alive again. It is still my preference for music at home and it is an extra plus if the lp also had the downloadable device option. Every year I attempt to head out to Record Store Day (RSD). My goal is to pick up unique items that have never been released, but more than anything, those 80's and 90's albums that were only made on CD. After a three hour wait in line this year, with only 380 different releases and only 3000 stores in the country with offerings, I came home with everything on my list, but one item out of stock. A total win. Five stars for variety and good set up outside to make shopping effiient. My only suggestion is to get a couple food trucks and dj or live music in the parking lot, playing something chill. #SpinRecords #Carlsbad #RSD #FortheWin

They have vinyl, of course, and almost more used CDs than I have seen anywhere else in San Diego County. I know I am dating myself when I say I am more of a CD person but the selection was outstanding and the price ($5 per CD unless marked otherwise) was very reasonable. I would say the vinyl prices are pretty much on par with what you see elsewhere. They even have tapes and, while I lived through the tape era, you could not get my to buy one for any price. Plus, who has a tape player? They were playing outstanding music throughout our visit. I felt like I was at a concert. I can see myself coming back here with some frequency. I easily spent an hour browsing and had a good time doing so.

This review is a few months overdue, so my apologies!…read more Track City records is a small, family owned record store that has a great selection of vinyl albums for every taste. They are located in Downtown Escondido. Street parking is available but plan ahead on busy weekends. We first heard about them when they hosted a Bruno Mars The Romantic listening party. It was a chill time and the folks that run this business are the sweetest. We chatted with them for a bit, asked how long they've been in business and how just general conversation. What I appreciated was the eclectic variety of albums available...even some difficult to find Filipino albums. Loved the representation. There were plenty of rare finds as well as current music. They also have merch for sale so I picked up a Track City tote bag to take home since they didn't have my size in some of their t-shirts. Please support small businesses like this one. I hope to see them here for many years to come!

At the end of the album they did a raffle for a free Bruno mars shirt. We didn't win, but it was an interesting event. The record store has a bunch of records and some record players. It was a small shop, but it fit quite a lot of people for the event.

Okay, I'm just going to say it: this store's buying prices for Blu-ray movies are ludicrously low…read more Recently, I sold six Blu-rays for store credit; because I was selling for store credit, I expected (or hoped for?), say, $1-2 per disc. Also, keep in mind that the six discs I sold were not movies of which they had an overabundance. Anyway, I reasoned that f.y.e. would be able to recoup the buyback price by marking each disc up 400% and still make a profit. However, I barely got $2 of credit from the transaction... Two dollars! Desperate to offload the Blu-rays without donating them (though I could have donated those discs to Savers and gotten a 20% discount on my next purchase), I went ahead with the $2 credit and bought two very good movies: Argo (only for $4!) and Tree of Life (an outstanding Terrence Malick movie) for $10 minus the $2 credit. Anyway, I would say that f.y.e in Carlsbad has a decent selection of used Blu-rays (though their new Blu-rays are unreasonably highly-priced), but their buyback rates are horrendous. The staff is friendly enough, and I don't blame them for their buyback policies, but, sheesh, f.y.e... You can do better than $0.35 per Blu-ray!
