Amabile and Sons Inc - The difference in rock sizes

    Amabile and Sons Inc

    (1 review)

The overall issue: We ordered and paid $191.93 for 2 yards…read moreof 1-3 inches of Riverbed Stones to be delivered to our home. I attached the picture attached to show the person I talked to what I had received, clearly not 1-3 inches. Now, I fully expect differences in size, as they are rocks coming from a quarry... but I received more than half my order of rock sizes of 3-6 inches. As you can see from the picture, the rocks are clearly VERY different in size and not what we had ordered to landscape our backyard. I tried to ask him, as he was still yelling at me, if there was something that can be done, since this is not what we had paid $191 for. I was yelled at a phone number for the quarry they use, that I could not make out. I am not sure why I needed to make a phone call to the quarry, when I ordered the rocks from their company. I thought the least that could have been done was that their company could make the call to the quarry to clarify the order with them. I also suggested that we would load up the rocks and return them to them - he yelled fine, bring them back and I'll refund you! When I asked if we can get the actual rocks I ordered, he yelled that they would be the same rocks I received, they come from a quarry, what did you expect! Apparently there was nothing he can do, except yell and scream at me for trying to get what we ordered and paid for. I would like to preface this review with the fact that I have never been, I would say spoken to, but that was not the case... SCREAMED is the best description, at and not able to have a reasonable conversation with the person on the other line at Amabile and Son. The person yelled at me and told me to contact the quarry, accused me of trying to get the stones for free, and yelled that you do not even deliver to to our town. When we spoke to the nice woman yesterday 4/29, she did not mention that delivering to our town was a problem, if so, we would have shopped around. I was also yelled at that no one has ever complained about something like this in 60 years. I was also yelled at to sue them if I want, he didn't care. When I asked him if he was the owner, he told me he was one of them, which really surprised me. I was also yelled at that I should have went to your facility to measure the rocks myself, even though we paid the $50 for them to be delivered. If there was a specific radius, then someone should have mentioned that. The only reason why I sent the pictures of the rocks with the measuring stick, was for you to get an idea of the significant difference in size. There were many other things that were yelled at me, but in all honesty, I could not make out what the person was saying and even more so, why I needed to be treated like that. I hung up the phone crying and shaking because of how he screamed at me. What I am still trying to comprehend after our phone call today is; is this really how they do business with customers? Their website gives a clear description that we can order different size rocks, so I am not sure why we received a range of rocks that span between 1-6 inches verse the 1-3 inches that are clearly advertised on your website (picture below). Not only that, but SCREAMING at a customer that clearly did not get delivered what we paid for. I asked in an email if there was a way we can compromise and resolve the issue... Update 5/1: My husband spoke with the woman at the company the next morning and she said that they have never made a mistake. She told my husband that the bigger rocks slip through the sifter (1/2 my order was larger rocks). She refunded the delivery fee of $50, but in my next email to the company, I said that the issue was not the delivery (an order was delivered), but with the product being incorrect. I have not received a response and I have rocks that are not able to be used in my driveway.

Customer service runs a business...remember that as I go on…read more We have been going to East Hanover Home Depot for many years. Frustration abounded with either not being able to find help or if you found someone, they didn't really no much about what you needed. *****About a few weeks ago, my wife and I went to HD to purchase a number of assorted items, either individual or in bulk. Walking in the front door, we were GREETED, YES I SAID GREETED, by 2 young(er) women, who immediately said, "Good morning", can we help you find what you want," I looked at my wife and asked " where are we?"*** I responded by saying to them what we needed. Again, so quickly and politely , both went right to their tablets to check?! Both answered almost in sync, " Please go to Aisle 13, Bay 5". We followed their answer, with directions, and in Aisle 12, Bay 5 there were the items we needed! Ok, 1 time Home Depot was , like, a different , better Big Box Store? We went back to purchase a lot of merchandise needed. AGAIN, WE WERE GREETED WITH A " Good morning" , can we help you find what you. came in for? We told them once again, and again, we were guided to the right aisle! We were greeted by Ria and Chris, both so nice and knowledgeable. Chris sat us down, and we were asked what we were looking for. The entire Department, Ria and , Chris, in particular, took us through what we wanted, needed, then put together a complete plan for us to approve, change, whatever. We were again taken care of with knowledgeable and understanding people. I'll finally end to say that we had to go back, 1 to exchange something that I purchased incorrectly. Taken care of quickly, (with a smile) by Customer Service, then again we're guided to the correct aisle, etc. A new mandate for East Hanover Home Depot definitely. WE CAN RECOMMEND that you can now go to Home Depot, not to wander around looking for (maybe) help, but definite help and with a totally different attitude . Thank you East Hanover Home Depot...we'll be back with confidence to purchase what we need. PS...lastly, their prices are either in line with others, or better.! Finally.

Alba Kitchen and Bath - The rendering Serenay put together for us after we sent her the dimensions and current kitchen pictures

**Pictures to be updated next month Aug 2024 after our renovation fully wraps up**…read more For months, my sister and I were daunted by the thought of renovating our Cobble Hill, Brooklyn condo. One weekend, we visited various tile and fixture stores near our childhood hometown in NJ, scraping for motivation and inspiration. We walked into Alba Kitchen and Bath in East Hanover on a whim and were warmly greeted by Serenay. This one serendipitous meeting gave us the comfort and confidence to jumpstart our entire project! We are so grateful to Serenay and the whole team at Alba for our beautiful new kitchen!  Here are 3 reasons why working with Alba has been a wonderful experience and why I wholeheartedly recommend them.  1. Seasoned Kitchen Design Experts:  Serenay accounted for every inch of available space in our kitchen and produced multiple renderings (see pictures 3 and 4) showcasing different design configurations. For example, we have an awkward wooden beam which previously left a gap between the upper cabinets. She commissioned custom shallow cabinets, and turned both the top and bottom into usable cabinet space!! She also advised us on how we could maximize space inside our cabinets, such as getting rid of the lazy susan we originally had in our old corner cabinet. The renderings were super helpful in visualizing what the kitchen would look like. Our appliances also fit perfectly back in during reinstallation.  Serenay was also able to take the "inspiration" picture I sent her (see picture 5 - this is from Brittany Marom's 61 Rivington project) and turned it into reality. We chose thin shaker (Luna collection) Fabuwood upper cabinets in White Dove, lower cabinets in Kona, and Maharaja quartzite stone backsplash and counters. Maharaja quartzite is actually the stone we saw in the showroom kitchen countertop. We fell in love with the horizontal striations and after quite a bit of sleuthing, Serenay helped us track down its origin.   2. Clear Communication: Serenay was very direct and clear about what was included in scope (e.g., we would need to hire someone else to remove and reinstall appliances given their COI scope in NYC). She always answered our questions instead of dodging them using vague terms (we noticed a lot of contractors we spoke to, instead of getting into details, would just say things like "It will be great. It will look really nice" whereas Serenay would actually tell us *why* it would look great, *why* we might want to go with Fabuwood instead of other cabinet manufacturers, etc). Scheduling the measurements; cabinet delivery; cabinet installation; countertop installation; and followups were also a breeze. At our request, she also connected us with the stone yard so we could inspect a sample slab, and to meet the stone fabricator so we could preview where they were planning to make the cuts.   3. Fair and All-Inclusive Pricing: I googled Alba beforehand and was reassured by several blog posts/reviews that they get the best pricing on Fabuwood cabinets in NJ. From the start, Alba's quote also included the cost of materials and installation for both the cabinets and countertops, and it was very fair, especially for NYC. We were considering just refinishing our 2002-era cabinets to save money. Working with Alba allowed us to get brand new cabinets with all the bells and whistles, like soft-close and pull-out utensil cabinets.  Throughout this process, my sister and I felt so lucky that Alba is willing to do projects in NYC and not only NJ.  Since we are still mid-project with other renovations, I don't have the best pictures yet of the finished product. I will update this review with closeup pictures once we clear all the construction materials away. But in the meantime, do not hesitate to choose Alba and especially the wonderful Serenay. THANK YOU Alba Kitchen and Bath!!

The Stone Shop - The beautiful 5 inch wide saddle THE STONE SHOP cut for us

We tried to find one on-line, we went to Lowes and Home Depot, and we could not find one that matches what we need, and the contractor needed it ASAP. We remember THE STONE SHOP did our kitchen last year so we called and Ashley told us to come over right away and pick out a slab we like and she will have it cut to the right size for us. We went there at 11 am and selected one that matches our wall tile color and Ashley said she will have a piece cut out to our specification by 3pm. We went back at 3pm that same afternoon and the piece was all ready for pick-up, all polished to perfection. We brought it back home and the contractor installed it right away. They were incredible in thinking out of the box to help us out. I cannot thank them enough for saving the day. They were friendly, accommodating, and affordable. They did not jack up the price just because it was an emergency. They will bend over backward to help you out. Thank you Ashley and Frank for making life so much easier for us.
