The 523, chocolate chip cookie, and Vietnamese Coffee
Marcos C.

This is my second time coming and it was just as good as the first. The coffee is 2 for 2 in quality and a well worth the price. If you want to study or just hang out with friends this is the place to go!

Cool Vibe!

What a lovely find! After spending time with extended family I NEEDED a fix & a piddle on our way back to El Dorado. Thank you, AppleMaps, for guiding us to a superb Honey Lavender Oatmilk Latte! The kids behind the counter (I'm old enough to be their grandma) we're super polite and very helpful with my order. The music was not offensive, like it can be in other establishments, nice lighting, comfy chairs, nice artwork, and everybody seemed chill.

This place would be great to study or have a date! It's so cute, clean, and open! They have plenty of seating with great staff with a big menu. I've gotten a couple of things from here so far and I will continue to update! -Iced chai latte: 1/5, it was very watered down - Iced matcha latte with rose cold foam: 5/5, super yummy, it had the perfect amount of sweetness and hint of rose -Spicy chicken ramen: 1.5/5, the noodles were yummy and perfectly cooked but the there was barely any broth, the broth barely had any flavor and had A LOT of oil (guessing it's from the chili crisp they put on top), it was also pretty salty (prob from all the chili crisp), it also was more numbing then actually spicy

Tonkatsu Ramen, and a 523 iced
Austin R.

Had the 523 iced and the tonkatsu ramen. Both were great, the guys behind the counter were quick and helpful, and the vibe was super chill. Wished I was local so I could come back!

Was in the area for business and found this place so decided to give it a try. It was the highlight of every morning that I was there. Easy to get to, friendly staff in the morning and amazing coffee. The place is cozy and inviting if you want to spend some time there working or catching up with a friend. I had "The Standard" hot latte and it was amazing - my go to every day. I went one day during the evening and the evening staff was not as friendly as the morning staff, so shoutout to the morning staff. I will definitely visit again when I am in town. Oh, and I also bought some of their coffee beans - great roast.

Spicy chicken Ramen. Tonkotsu Ramen.

First of all, let me just say this is not just coffee. We had a great bowl of traditional tonkatsu, Ramen and spicy chicken Ramen. They were both excellent. I have had coffee here a couple of times and it has been very good both times. The staff is very friendly.

Nice to see another establishment with some Asian influences open in Monroe, but was sadly disappointed. Their red velvet mocha had no hint of caffeine and felt like I was finding chocolate milk. Their vietnamese iced coffee wasn't true Viet coffee. Instead, it's a cold brew (not the expresso drip as it should be) with condensed milk and vanilla. No classic bitterness taste found in this 'Viet' coffee. Their spicy chicken ramen was average, but the broth felt like 80% spicy chili oil from Lao Gan MA (iykyk), so I don't know if I would even call this ramen. Their teriyaki salmon bowl was the only thing I enjoyed because you can't really mess up a bowl (I would hope). Overall, this visit was meh. Would probably try their other items and see if it's any better. Place is spacious, staff is nice, and good music selection - so at least there's that!

soup

Good food, I had the tuna poke bowl. But the grilled cheese with tomato soup? Kinda pathetic. 4 of my friends ordered it and the "soup" was really just marinara sauce in a bowl. The sandwiches were burnt in some areas and smaller than described. This is such a cute place, and the vibes are fun, but it was a disappointment. Service was ok, nothing to complain about there

Let's divert our eyes to a much happier review, shall we? I came here with my sister on my last day right before my flight back to New York. I thought the cashier guy looked familiar and my sister realized it was the same waiter we had at Parish restaurant a few days prior. Again, the waitstaff in most of Monroe, Louisiana is pretty phenomenal. Like people treat you right here. The coffee is fantastic. The menu had tempting seasonal beverages and fancy concoctions but I went with a basic or not so basic macchiato with I think oat milk (I was pretty exhausted) and my sister got a Honey Lavender Latte. Hers was absolutely delicious. Mine as well but hers was just on another level. I was tempted to get the Vietnamese Iced Coffee but they were out so the Macchiato may have been an impulse decision. There's a red velvet mocha on the menu and that sounds pretty intriguing. The baked goods are also something to write home about. We split a gigantic cinnamon roll and a chocolate chip cookie. Both were gently warmed. The roll was gooey and soft and layered with ribbons of delicious sticky cinnamon sugar. I'd kill for this right now. The cookie was also warm and soft but chewy with liberal amounts of fancy sea salt. I ate the other half somewhere on my layover in Atlanta. Like I rarely ever write reviews for coffee shops because I'm not usually impressed and don't have a lot to say. Get the coffee. But this is a spot worth checking out if you live here or are in the area.

Avocado Toast

This is a beautiful and delicious little gem downtown Monroe. I couldn't wait for a trip to see my parents and visit. It was worth the wait. We both got the avocado toast and lattes. Both iced lattes were so good, but the real winner was the toast. It was so filling. I cannot wait to visit again!

I got a white lightning and the darker drink in the back is a Vietnamese coffee

I haven't tried coffee in Monroe before, but my friends and I wanted to try this place first. It's extremely cute inside with a very nice relaxed vibe. The service was fast and polite. I was genuinely surprised how fast our coffees were done. I love sweet drinks that still taste like coffee and that's exactly what the White Lighting is. It has just the right amount of cinnamon, though I will say you might not want the last few sips because the cinnamon settles at the bottom. My friend got the Vietnamese coffee which tasted like a stronger coffee drink to me. I prefer sweeter drinks. My other friend got a drink that's not pictured, I forget the name but it had butter and coconut oil. She wasn't as into her drink, but it was a flavor she wanted to try and she enjoyed it. Everything we tried was delicious even if it wasn't our normal tastes, it was great quality and reasonably priced. Next time I'll have to try the muffins :)

Tonkotsu Ramen

I've been to this location for lunch twice and each time the food was great. This most recent time the wait was a little longer than expected considering I called in prior, but it was also lunch time, so that's to be expected. The service is always nice. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen this recent time! I had to get it to-go (not the restaurants fault) and I greatly appreciated the thought put into even to-go orders. Will be back!

I also tried the fresh rolls and those were delicious! Fresh and flavorful. My son loved them as well! We ordered online and our order was ready promptly at the time estimated. The shop itself is a good size located in an older strip mall.

As a Vietnamese person, and someone who used to work at a pho shop -- plus my family owned a…read morebusiness -- I understand how hard and difficult it is to open and run a restaurant here as an immigrant. Because of that, I usually don't write bad reviews. But I'm writing this because I genuinely want the owner to read it and understand. I love my culture and our food, and everywhere I go I always try Vietnamese restaurants. I chose this place because it looked like a mom-and-pop shop, and I really like supporting local businesses. We dined in during lunchtime, and it wasn't very busy, so we got seated right away. We ordered: - Rice with Grilled Beef: it tasted good and the portion was decent. We added a fried egg on top for $2.45. Everything was okay, but the color of the pickled vegetables didn't look fresh to me. - Vermicelli with Grilled Shrimp, Pork, and Egg Rolls: also a decent bowl, no big complaints. But I asked for no bean sprouts, the server repeated it to confirm, and it still came out with bean sprouts. Now here's the part that really disappointed me. Everywhere I've been, when you order a rice plate, it usually comes with a small side of soup. This place didn't, so we decided to order one. I knew we would be charged for it, and that's fine. But $8 for a small bowl of beef broth -- barely around 4 oz -- is honestly outrageous. I understand pho broth takes a lot of time, effort, ingredients, and experience. I respect that. But this? This didn't feel reasonable at all. I'm not expecting anything to be given for free just because I'm Vietnamese and I speak Vietnamese when I order. Even if they offered, I wouldn't take it. That's not the point. The point is, I felt really disappointed -- because this is my own people, and it made me feel like I got taken advantage of by my own people. I'm speaking up like this not to bash a small business, but because I want them to understand: every dollar customers spend is money they work hard for. You shouldn't take advantage of that or use excuses to raise prices like this. And what made it worse is that I've heard from locals who've been there and personally know the owner that "they only do that to people from out of town." That honestly made me even more upset. You might make extra money from one visit, but you lose trust permanently.

People are super nice and it's unfortunate that the owner doesn't ever bake enough of anything. I was in at 10:00am today. My online order wouldn't go through because the owner hadn't loaded what was available for the week. Still not loaded so I guess they just don't bake on days the owner can't figure out how much they sell of each item...you would think that they would have some clue as to how many croissants, danish, breads, etc that they sell in a week and get the website up and running. Frustrated, I ordered my usual coffee and 3 croissants. Nope!!! Only 2 croissants at 10:00am and they were probably left over from Saturday since they were tough and chewy rather than flakey and soft when they're fresh. And, absolutely not one tart, danish and very few muffins available. I'm not convinced of the cleanliness either. You can see back into the kitchen and everyone is running around with bare feet! It seems that that would be against health department regulations. Don't waste your time. They will be out of whatever you want so you'd be bettter off going around the corner to another shop or even to Monroe. Those establishments at least can figure out how many of certain popular items they need. So sad because when they're good, they're great. Unfortunately, they're hardly ever good. Just mediocre at best when they could be so incredible.

Awesome baked goods and coffee! Definitely stopping here every time we're in Monroe…read more Apparently I have to keep typing in order for this review to be posted, so here are some more words.
