This review is for the admissions councilor who entertained me from the very beginning of all the process till present. To follow up calls & more info that every time I'm confused about something she is able to explain things clearly, Thank you Ms.Kate kudos to you & more power. Additional review & I am able to clarify my confusion about the VN schedule & a student service rep from riverside (Crystal Arellano) was able to help me, thank you! Keep up the good work!

This review is for the RN IV refresher course…read more It's not worth it for $205. There are limited mannequins, outdated supplies, and the class was overpacked. There were not enough chairs or even tables to sit at. The class instructor Jayne does a good job at breaking everything down and making it simple to understand the basic concept of different IV fluids, indications, complications, etc. I would say this class is better for LVNs or new grads. My constructive criticism is regarding her terrible attitude towards some of her students. She even mocked a student in front of the class asking a question that was completely valid. She repeated the question back to him and just started laughing in front of everyone. Then, when it was my turn to insert an IV, I got blood return and successfully inserted the IV despite being incorrectly told that I wasn't in the vein. Luckily I didn't listen, and proceeded to float the catheter into the vein. At this point, turn around to hear Jayne from across the room yelling at me "NO, NO, NO, NO!!!".... to which I replied, "um, what?" She then proceeded to yell at me for placing pressure above the insertion site while reaching for the connection tubing, so that blood wouldn't squirt out. I had no problem with telling her that I would appreciate legitimate feedback, not her yelling "no" multiple times at me from across the room. I also could have done without the lengthy tangents she went on, which I felt took away from the content of the class. She ranted about her kids and their IQ (of all things) for a solid 10 minutes, at which point I looked around and noticed that half of the class was on their phones or nodding off from boredom. Do yourself a favor and go spend your $205 at a facility with updated equipment, enough seats, and an instructor who respects their students and isn't burned out yawning throughout the entire class. I genuinely don't understand how this page has so many good reviews about her, unless she has really gone down hill in the last few months, or just had a really terrible night's sleep. Regardless, I will not be returning.

During the course, there were multiple last-minute changes, including in-person skills days being rescheduled the night before, which made it difficult to plan and take the program seriously. After completing the program, I submitted my LVN license on April 27 and requested that my certification be sent and posted to the Department of Consumer Affairs (Breeze) as required for employment. I received no response. I followed up again the next day and still received no reply. Because of this delay, I have already been denied multiple job opportunities since employers require the certification to be visible on Breeze. Only after multiple follow-ups did I finally receive my certificate, but it still has not been posted on the DCA website, which continues to impact my ability to secure a job. The lack of communication and delayed processing is unacceptable, especially when students are relying on timely certification for employment. This experience has cost me real job opportunities. I would strongly advise future students to consider other programs that are more organized and responsive. Also, I have an email stating that this was a three day course, I asked for the days off, and I already referred many people and paid, during the first day of class I was told this was a 4 day course and had to call out of work. I was also charged two times for this course and asked for a refund and received no reply, I had to open up a dispute with my bank. This school is very unorganized and they overbooked our class.

TL;DR Pacific…read moreCollege in Costa Mesa is one of the best nursing schools in Orange County. Don't let the old reviews stop you--apply now! I'm a big Yelp review checker, and like many people, I hesitated to call Pacific College in Costa Mesa because of the outdated negative reviews. I decided to give it a chance, and after finishing my first term in their Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program, I can confidently say this school is a hidden gem for nursing students in Orange County. Supportive Faculty & Staff At Pacific College, you're not just another number. Coming from a larger school, the smaller cohort size here makes a huge difference. The professors and staff are invested in our success and truly care about preparing us for real nursing careers. * Professor Wu - well-organized PowerPoints with page references that made Fundamentals clear. * Dr. Margaret - practical homework assignments that actually prepared us for Pharmacology tests. * Professor Johnny - clinical rotations with real-world advice that made me feel confident in patient care. * Sara (MFT) - free counseling sessions when school/life stress got overwhelming. * Andrea (Admissions) - made sure I was guided through every step of enrollment. Everything is well-structured and professors stick to the syllabus. It's organized, predictable, and professional--something that's rare in nursing programs. Wellness & Student Life Pacific College actually incorporates student wellness and self-care days into the schedule. At first I thought it was unnecessary, but it turned out to be a great experience for stress management and team-building. My cohort in Costa Mesa has been supportive, motivated, and drama-free, which makes learning so much easier. Campus & Location The building itself is simple, but don't let appearances fool you. The simulation labs, clinical equipment, and technology are all modern and on par with larger Orange County nursing schools. Plus, the location is convenient--close to South Coast Plaza, the 405 freeway, and central to Irvine, Newport Beach, and Santa Ana, so commuting is easy. Admissions & Program Benefits Admissions was straightforward. They accepted all my prerequisites, and the TEAS exam wasn't bad. The biggest advantage is the 95%+ RN NCLEX pass rate, which shows how well they prepare students. Unlike community colleges in Orange County where you may wait years for a seat, Pacific College allows you to graduate faster--eligible to sit for the NCLEX in as little as 16 months. For me, this was the smarter choice: work as an RN sooner, then do an RN-to-BSN bridge program later. Cost vs. Value Tuition isn't the cheapest, but it's worth the investment. Waiting years at a community college costs more in lost wages. At Pacific College, you start sooner, graduate sooner, and start working as a nurse sooner. They also have financial aid, private loan options, and flexible payment methods, so most students find a way to make it work. Curriculum & Confidence Instead of rushed 8-week terms, Pacific College offers full semesters--which means more time to actually learn. We practiced dozens of nursing skills before clinical rotations, so by the time we entered the hospital setting, we weren't going in blind. Finals just wrapped up and I'm happy with my progress. This is hands-down the hardest thing I've ever done, but also the most rewarding. Final Thoughts Whether you live in Costa Mesa, Irvine, Huntington Beach, or anywhere in Orange County, Pacific College is a strong choice if you want to become a nurse. I work part-time and still manage to keep up with coursework. The diversity of students--some with healthcare backgrounds, some brand new like me--makes the program engaging and collaborative. If you're considering nursing school in Orange County, especially near Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, or Irvine, Pacific College is worth applying to. This program will prepare you to become an RN and pass the NCLEX. I'll update again at graduation, but so far, Pacific College has exceeded my expectations.

I was given the materials I needed, and I really enjoyed the teachers -- especially my clinical teacher, Miss Josie. She was amazing! She taught us the skills we needed for the practical portion of the CNA test, and I learned a lot during clinicals. The facility we trained at was also a great learning environment. I know some students did not like one of the teachers because of the way she spoke. I can understand how her tone may not be for everyone, but I also do not think she meant to come across as disrespectful. I think she may see certain things as common sense and is trying to prepare students for real life. We are all adults, and in the working world, not everyone is always going to speak to you the way you would prefer. Sometimes you have to learn how to handle different personalities and still stay professional. That being said, the attendance policy is very strict. If you miss two days, you are dropped from the course and have to make up those days and pay for the missed classes. I understand why they do this the course is short, and I think they want students to take the program seriously and prepare them for nursing school, which is not easy and has a high drop rate. However, there should be more flexibility for unforeseen circumstances. Life does throw curveballs sometimes, and even responsible students may have an emergency come up that they truly cannot avoid. In those situations, it does not feel right to be dropped from a course you already paid for because of something outside of your control. I also understand that charging a fee may be meant to discourage students from missing a class, but $100 per missed class is a lot, and it is unreasonable to ask people to pay that when they truly could not make it to class. Overall, I would recommend this school. I feel like I learned a lot, was well prepared, and had a positive experience.

Dont do it if you are not sure you want to do this! It will suck you in, chew you up, and spit you out but you will be transformed into a critical thinking, composed, accomplished medical professional beyond prepared for what the job will throw at you.
