This review is for the RN IV refresher course. It's not worth it for $205. There are limited mannequins, outdated supplies, and the class was overpacked. There were not enough chairs or even tables to sit at. The class instructor Jayne does a good job at breaking everything down and making it simple to understand the basic concept of different IV fluids, indications, complications, etc. I would say this class is better for LVNs or new grads. My constructive criticism is regarding her terrible attitude towards some of her students. She even mocked a student in front of the class asking a question that was completely valid. She repeated the question back to him and just started laughing in front of everyone. Then, when it was my turn to insert an IV, I got blood return and successfully inserted the IV despite being incorrectly told that I wasn't in the vein. Luckily I didn't listen, and proceeded to float the catheter into the vein. At this point, turn around to hear Jayne from across the room yelling at me "NO, NO, NO, NO!!!".... to which I replied, "um, what?" She then proceeded to yell at me for placing pressure above the insertion site while reaching for the connection tubing, so that blood wouldn't squirt out. I had no problem with telling her that I would appreciate legitimate feedback, not her yelling "no" multiple times at me from across the room. I also could have done without the lengthy tangents she went on, which I felt took away from the content of the class. She ranted about her kids and their IQ (of all things) for a solid 10 minutes, at which point I looked around and noticed that half of the class was on their phones or nodding off from boredom. Do yourself a favor and go spend your $205 at a facility with updated equipment, enough seats, and an instructor who respects their students and isn't burned out yawning throughout the entire class. I genuinely don't understand how this page has so many good reviews about her, unless she has really gone down hill in the last few months, or just had a really terrible night's sleep. Regardless, I will not be returning. read more

I attended this course 2 years ago and completed it with a few of my classmates from nursing school. I checked on the BVNPT page and the certificate was never attached to my license. I contacted the instructor and sent her a picture of the signed certificate I received on the last day of the lecture with her name and date and she stated that it wasn't enough proof that I completed the course. I emailed her again asking what were my options and never got a reply. I had to get recertified by a different institution and pay the fee to get this certificate again. I needed this certificate to be completed in a timely manner, but never got a response from Jayne the instructor. I initially thought this course was extremely helpful but I also don't appreciate the customer service I received from the instructor Jayne. read more

Just a heads up for those that might care: the students will test on each other, and Ms. Jayne will offer her arms as well. Ms. Jayne was a fantastic instructor. Lectures were all relevant information that was needed. A lot of hands on practice on mannequins as well. This was the first time I've ever done an IV, and also the first time I've ever had an IV started on myself. I didn't do all that great on the first day, but with Ms. Jayne's continuing guidance throughout the course, I was able to get the technique down and do two IVs on the last day without any issues. YES!! I AM NOW OFFICIALLY IV CERTIFIED! (thanks to Allied Nursing) I just finished the 3-day IV certification and blood withdrawal course with Ms. Jayne this past weekend and I have to say.. she is absolutely amazing! It has always been my biggest fear to be poked by needles myself, even though I knew that I'd have to demonstrate live blood draws and start IVs on people to pass the course. The course was structured very well, with a quick lecture before practicing on the mannequin arms. Once we were confident with our skills, we would have to demonstrate 3 successful blood drawls, and start 3 successful IVs (either on each other, or you have an option to bring in someone). What made me more relieved was that Ms. Jayne never pressured us to finish those check offs within the 3 -day period; she even offered to book another appointment with her to demonstrate if we felt we weren't ready or didn't have enough time. She was very flexible and I especially appreciated that since It can be tough to rotate on classmates if the class was so small. Pros: Jayne is the most patient, encouraging, and calm instructor I have ever encountered in my life. She takes her time to ease you into the course without criticizing you for your mistakes or your fears. I was so scared to try starting an Iv on a human being and she definitely helped me conquer my anxiety. Even when I was used as a volunteer to get blood drawn, I panicked and she was there to reassure me that I'd be okay. Even better, Ms. Jayne will slowly guide you if you need help while demonstrating the skill in front her. She does not put you down or discourage you at all; she even tried to support us by telling us all that we were capable and it was all mental if we ever felt like we couldn't do it! To be quite honest, I hesitated taking this course after passing NCLEX earlier this month for my LVN, but I realized it is great to have on my experience and resume (since this certification never expires!). I decided to face it and enroll in this course, which costed $270 -payable by cash or online if desired. This was the best decision I've made yet. To those who needed IV therapy cert & blood withdrawal, this place is 1000% recommended. I learned so much in a span of just 3 days, and Ms. Jayne deserves so much more recognition for her work. I was a bit surprised when i started because i thought it would be a typical boring class. I was wrong! I learned alot in the 3 days I took the class. Ms. Rachel was great at both lecture and clinical, explaining everything from different types of fluids to exactly what to do from beginning to end for both drawing blood and IV insertion.
