Dr Kimball is an awesome dentist - gentle, skilled, experienced, and doesn't push unneeded dental work. He's had to replace a few of the crowns I had which cracked (they were 30 years old and he wasn't the one who put them in.). His crowns fit perfectly are comfortable and look good. I haven't had any pain at all when he works on my teeth. His dental hygienist is gentle, thorough and prompt, she does a great job without causing pain. His receptionist Susan is so helpful at arranging appointment times which work and explaining everything. She has been very kind. I recommend him highly! read more

I had a very dissatisfied visit with Dr. Kimball. My dentist retired 6 months ago, and I found Dr. Kimball office online. So 5 months ago my husband and I went for our first visit, had our X-ray and regular cleaning and thought we found our new doctor. During my cleaning I specifically mentioned that I don't want to do a deep cleaning, I have no problems with my gums, and I have those numbers(4, 5) in some areas for many years. I schedule another appointment for cleaning, and when I came, I was told it's a deep cleaning. I refused, offered to sign a paper, but denied the service of the regular cleaning. The Doctor was there and supported his staff. It's my teeths, and having my signed consent would free the office of any liability. I hate to be pressured doing something that I don't like, and according to my old doctor and hygienist the deep cleaning is not something that I must have. I know for sure that it's a great money maker for the office. I even suggested having a regular cleaning and monitor those areas. The answer was NO, so I left. What a waste of time! Lack of professionalism with their Admin/front desk staff. Sue at the front desk is extremely rude and harsh when you ask questions regarding charges/bill. I have to follow up with my insurance almost every visit as they try to charge you for a preventative visit without consent. When you explain to her the charges she just says I'll write it off without any explanation. very rude. I will not be going back to that dentist. I met Dr. Kimball in a different setting and was impressed with him in all areas. I had no doubt that these non-professional encounters would translate in the professional realm to the exact persona -, integrity, knowledge, and the ability to listen. People with these characteristics surround themselves with like minded people. This is a leader with a team selected for excellence, and they all perform like a Swiss timepiece. In my 10 years in OC I've had nothing but less than desirable experiences with dentists. My elderly father was ripped off many times in his 2o years in OC. Dentist X would come to conclusion"A" regarding my dental health, Dentist "Y" conclusion "B", and so on. The last I remember, I have the same dental profile! As did my father or anyone. As someone who has spent some time in the C-Suite, most CEOs will often ask a difficult question of someone that they already know the answer to. They do this to judge someone's honesty. Once you pass this "acid test" you get more access. If you fail, the iron curtain goes own promptly. Stan Kimball, as expected, passed with flying colors. If you prize honesty, professionalism, the ability to listen and then communicate the "facts" and not flagrant "double talk and upselling" de rigueur with every OC dentist I previously encountered, Dr. Kimball is that dentist . Not surprisingly leaders of this caliber always surround themselves with like-minded team members- at this practice they were all polite, efficient, listened, and spoke based on the "facts" not the "fiction". So you will have a team you can depend on that will put your dental health first, and not their own objectives first. I remember the days when all professionals were like this. As a recent retiree I am very aware of living on a fixed income, with dental problems not covered by Medicare. Dr Kimball and his staff explained to me all my options and did not make me feel embarrassed to ask! His equipment enlightened me about what was going on in my mouth, and I was able to judge what was best for me to do when. No pressure to do it all at once, and logical explanations about what to prioritize and why. Painless dentistry! Beautiful teeth! I've been to many dentists over the years, having moved around a lot, and Dr. Kimball is the best dentist I've ever had. Both my husband and I have been going to him for over 10 years and we've never had a negative experience. I've had to have a lot of dental work, including several crowns, and Dr. Kimball has patiently worked with me, always making sure I am satisfied with the results. I have HMO insurance and went to The Dental Office On Red Hill, because it had the best review I could find using my HMO. They told me have gum disease and that I need two root canals and a filling done that with my "insurance" that it would cost over $5,000. In the chair they brought in a sales lady in showing me what it would cost as I felt pressure to hurry with the procedure as if my teeth were going to fall out. It was traumatic. I came to Dr. Stan Kimball for a second opinion, knowing he doesn't take HMO insurance, I just needed another opinion. Dr. Kimball told me my gums are fine and that I do NOT need any root canals! Saving me a TON of money! He just diagnosed my teeth as they should be without any upscales. He was very comforting and calm. I feel very vulnerable and uncomfortable at the dentist and it was nice to feel comfortable and calm for a change. I felt as a patient, he truly had my best interest at heart like he would a family member. Finding a dentist you can trust is almost as hard as finding a good mechanic! If you have HMO insurance keep reading: This is what I've learned about HMO "insurance", it's just part of a large marketing plan. When signing up for HMO, you are then required to go to a select group of dentists, and these dentists are usually part of a large dental group such as "Modern Dentistry". They offer free cleanings as part of the plan, therefore you go into their extremely new updated offices and have a nice cleaning. However, when the "sales lady" comes in, it goes all wrong. It seems most Dentists will over diagnose, this helps make up for high overhead to cover the cost of everything that impressed you when you first walked in. Dr. Kimball might not have the newest equipment, however I find this comforting. Knowing he doesn't have a ton of overhead to pay for, helps me trust that he's just going to diagnose and charge me for what's needed, always having my best interest in mind. It's simply about fixing teeth and keeping them healthy. So remember, typically the cheaper the dentist the less quality of work and more likely to over diagnose. Dr. Kimball isn't the cheapest; however, I do feel he's a good honest guy that wants to take care of me by spending more time on my teeth doing a quality job and is defiantly worth it! read more

Be very careful..this office overbills. If you exceed your insurance limit for dental work on your insurance (like I did) they then charge you an exorbitant amount for the uncovered expenses. They did this with me more than once, which is why I felt compelled to come on here and rate them. They overcharged and overbilled me on my own dental work and also when they treated my young daughter. I would NEVER recommend this dentist to anyone... the experience was more than just unpleasant. read more

Have no clue what the other reviewer is talking about. Maybe she is used to going to cheap clinics for dental work -- who knows. I have been going to this office for almost 20 years. I saw Dr. Berger at first and when he retired, I started seeing Dr. Kimball. He and his staff are nothing but the best -- friendly, kind and professional. They do not overbill or overcharge. I've never had a problem with insurance paying for covered items or the percentage that is covered. Anyone should know that it totally depends on the insurance carrier you have and the type of coverage YOU pay for. If you're concerned about whether or not something is covered, you can always get a predetermination of benefits before proceeding. I highly recommend Dr. Kimball and his capable staff. read more
