I've been seeing Dr. Kim for around 10 years & unfortunately stopped seeing him once he moved offices from Laguna Hills to Tustin. Since then I've seen multiple dentists who constantly try to up sell me & push products/procedures that I don't necessarily need. For example one Dentist I visited in close proximity to my house insisted I needed fillings, & told me it would be $300+ out of pocket (By the way I have the PPO Insurance). I didnt believe him so I decided to make the drive out to my trusted family dentist Dr. Kim to get a second opinion. Just as expected Dr. Kim looked at my tooth that supposedly needed the fillings & told me that the fillings aren't necessary. As long as I brush well & get regular cleanings I wont have to worry. Dr. Kim saved me $300 out of pocket for the procedure that the other dentist insisted I needed. It's very easy to tell when someone is looking out for your best interest or theirs. Highly recommend you see Dr. Kim! His office is very clean & his staff is friendly & knowledgeable! read more

I pride myself on my front teeth. When I had a major chip in one of them, which meant that I had to replace the tooth or teeth, I was horrified. Dr Kim assured me that everything would be OK. I cried and was terribly upset. Dr. Kim did an excellent job! He put caps on both of them and they look fabulous! You can not tell that they are not my teeth. They look identical to what mine looked like. I have gone to dr. Kim for about 5 years now. I started out in Laguna Hills and then when he closed that office I followed him to Tustin. The drive isn't ideal but dr. Kim is worth it. I like this dental hygienist Alicia as well and the front desk is pleasant. read more

I have been coming here for a long time whenever I needed to see a dentist. Dr. Kim is very professional and knowledgable in his practice. He always makes sure that anything you need is in his best interest and will always do an amazing job with it, just like all the crowns/fills he has done for me. Dr. Kim and his staff are super friendly and welcoming everytime I come in for my appointments and I definitely recommend checking out his office if you ever need a dentist. Thank you guys! read more

Not the greatest dental experience I've had, but not the worst either. Came in to have my wisdom teeth extracted and when he saw the x-rays he immediately scheduled me in. Come the day of the extraction he immediately begins without saying anything at all and it was quite the hell of a procedure and even after lots of numbing I still felt a lot of pain. I could visibly see a lot of frustration and visible upset-ness on Dr. Kim's face during the procedure which definitely did not make me feel at ease at all and when I would tell him it was hurting a bit, he would seem to get borderline annoyed every time. I get it because my wisdom teeth were severely impacted and it was a complicated procedure, but regardless I think he could have handled it a little bit better. After what felt like an eternity and tons of pain later (over 1 hour just to get one tooth out), he immediately gets up and just tells me "I'm not doing you're other tooth, you need a specialist to do it" and leaves without providing any insight on how to take care of myself post procedure or anything. He left it up to the assistant to tell me but even then I still left with a lot of questions (in regards of what I can and can't eat, healing time, etc.). Not the best way to treat a patient who just went through hell and back and really rubbed me off the wrong way. Providing a 2 star review because the assistant was extremely nice and was as helpful as she possibly could have been. I would probably try to avoid coming here, mainly because the Doctor himself has a pretty poor attitude. read more

I initial went to Dr. Kay Kim because my insurance covered me there. I need two crowns and a root canal. Both expensive which my insurance didn't cover me for that. While preparing my teeth for my crowns which took forever I had a huge bruise on my jaw and cheek. Moving forward I went back to cement my permanent crowns in. There was always a gap around my teeth where the crowns were placed. Now I get to redo both of those crowns because in two years because the poor fitting of my crowns I have cavities around the gaps. So I get to spend another $2000 to redo my crowns. Office staff was nice. When I saw the x-rays, you can see this huge gap all the way around it which should've been noticed by Dr. Kim. He should've redone the mold and get the proper fit. I'm so unhappy and would love a refund to replace both of them. I'm concerned while my dentist takes off the crowns what lies underneath them. Be careful and check everything that you have done read more

Dr.Kim does an exceptional job, especially implants! He does his best to make you feel less tensed/nervous by providing a safe and comfortable environment (he tends to make funny jokes here and there). Also, during procedures/treatment Dr.Kim checks whether or not we're doing okay or makes sure we let him know right away if we feel any pain. Overall, he does an amazing job everytime! Thanks Dr.Kim for the hard work :) read more

After a bad experience with my former dental office past years I was pretty skeptical of this place. I have never encountered any type of medical practice where every single person is kind, welcoming, caring and friendly. Dr.Kim did his very best to explain and answer all of my questions so that I can be comfortable. His explanations and abilities gave my trust that I did not give to my former dentist. The Dr was very knowledgeable and explained in detail about my conditions. During treatment they talked me through everything they were doing. Again, these were some of the kindest people I've ever met. I will now look forward to having all my dental needs taken care of here at Dr Kay Kim's office. I completely recommend them! read more

Dr Kim is great dr! I will always recommend coming here if you need a great dentist! Staff is terrific!

My overall impression is that Dr. Kim was very nice and personable. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions that I had about my wisdom teeth and othet stuffs too. He took a good care of me while I was there to get my wisdom teeth out. He was very genuine and nice throughout the entire time and I'm very glad that I found him! :) Definitely recommending him to my friends read more

Dr. Kim is not professional at all and he tries to charge us much more for unnecessary treatment. Try to avoid him.

Just had an appointment. Staff is nice and courteous, especially Eunice and Jose. But Dr. Kay Kim is unprofessional and takes things to a personal level. He had the nerve to ask me why my teeth are bad. I explained I neglected my teeth for years and that I have a disability. Then he continues in a lecturing tone, "how come you didn't go to the dentist for years?" I thought I already answered and explained this yet after telling him my reasons for not being able to go to the dentist even if I wanted to, he then asks, "why are you here?" with a condescending look and tone of voice who can barely speak English at all. This guy is an idiot to even ask a patient with bad teeth looking to get it fixed. Where's his idiot license. I even pointed out that I gave him an answer and asked him why I didn't go to the dentist is even relevant and why he won't even discuss or consult the issue at hand and propose solution options. When I came out, which there is no door so everyone in that office from staff to patients can hear that conversation we just had. Eunice and Jose seemed very understanding and were very apologetic as I pointed out how he's trying to lecture me like I'm his child, which stems from the old Korean customs and traditions where you respect your elders and anyone older than you has authority over you. Dr. Kay or Kenny Kim (weird he uses 2 different names, ppl sometimes do to run from a bad rep) probably mistreat his staff like he would his patients. read more

The dentist put in a filling and it fell out the following week while eating nuts. I went back to have it refilled. The dentist wanted to blame me for eating nuts. After much argument, he finally refilled it. What a jackass. read more

On January 2, 2020 I've experienced a situation that could have been avoided. My dental appointment today was to complete an impression for a new crown. During the procedure, the receptionist Stephanie entered the room to have me sign an agreement for the cost of $1250. She said that the crown is not covered by Cigna (PPO). Having no knowledge of the requirements or choices, I signed the document. I told her that I was going home to check with Cigna and my flex account since it was the beginning of a new year. HOURS later, I called Cigna and learned that my current coverage (HMO), covers the cost for a crown and that my portion would cost me $450. She also said that they would not cover any procedures done if the dentist is not on their approval list and that Dr Kim is not one of them. Having learned this, I immediately called and cancelled the crown the same day. I would have agreed to pay for services completed as of today. According to Stephanie, I am held responsible for the total amount of $1250, regardless of the cancellation, for services not rendered, and a crown that have not been made, no copy of the signed document, invoice, or any kind of billing. I have been told that the bill was being sent to a Claims Office for for the full amount. Knowing the conversation with Stephanie was going absolutely nowhere, I asked to speak to Dr. Kim, she said he will not speak to me and that no one from the office will return my call. I am being blamed for this as if I purposely planned it. She failed to include herself, this could have been avoided if she had been efficient and called my insurance and verified the coverage and asked if the coverage will remain the same since this is a new year. I believe this issue could have been resolved but the lack of competence and total bias of the situation, made it impossible and questionable. Let me also add that I have been a loyal customer who paid my bills IN FULL every single time for the past 5 years, and this is how they treat their customers? I filed a complaint to the Dental Board of California for: 1) the unprofessional manner and lack of competence and efficiency in which this was handled. 2) For sending my bill (invoice, contract? I really don't know because I was never given a copy) to the Claims department for work that was done the same day. 3) Charging me the full amount ($1250) for services that have not been rendered. read more

CUSTOMERS BEWARE! FIND ANOTHER DENTIST. On January 2, 2020, I had an impression completed for a replacement crown. During the procedure, the receptionist Stephanie entered the room to have me sign an agreement for the cost of $1250. She said that the crown is not covered by Cigna (PPO), since I've had a crown on the same tooth less than 5 years ago. Having no knowledge of the requirements or choices, I signed the document. HOURS after leaving, I called Cigna and learned that with my current coverage (HMO), WILL cover the costs for crowns regardless of time and limitations and that my portion would only be $450. AND that Dr Kim was not on their approved list of Dentists', meaning they will not cover any expenses from Dr Kim. I immediately called his office and cancelled the order for the crown (since it was the same day) and all other future appointments that were made, like any other patient would. Stephanie has accused me for not informing her of my insurance coverage, as if I purposely planned this. I am appalled and hurt for the lack of empathy shown towards a long term patient and the unwillingness to work it out. I'm treated as if I was scheming things, threatening me that the agreement of $1250 will be sent to the Claims Office regardless of the cancellation, for services not rendered, the crown that has not been made yet, no copy of an agreement was provided to me, no invoice. Knowing the conversation with Stephanie was going absolutely nowhere, I've asked to speak to Dr. Kim. She said he doesn't want to talk to me and that no one in their office will return my call. I have been blamed by Stephanie for what has happened here, however she failed to include herself. This could have been avoided if she had been efficient and called my insurance and verified the coverage and asked if the coverage will remain the same since this is a new year. I believe this issue could have been resolved but the lack of competence and total bias of the situation, made it impossible and questionable. I filed a complaint in hopes to resolve this issue quickly and fairly. Let me also add that I have been a loyal customer, paid my bills with Dr Kim IN FULL every single time for the past 5 years. And this is how he treats his customers, really? By distancing himself, very disappointing. Learn from this people. read more

Dr Kim is very professional and has extraordinary skills especially in implants. When I got a quote from others, they thought the procedure would take 6 month. Dr Kim investigate with 3d xray and concluded to do it in a month. I save several months. I love his skill of anesthesia which I am struggling with other doctors. No shady bills or over charges. I have been happy for last 10 years of seeing Dr Kim. His integrity and skills deserves for 5 stars. read more

My little brother met dr. Kim to get a treatment for cavity on his top molars both side at same spot. After several treatment on both side, he felt the pain, and my parents found inflammation. My parents told about that to dr. Kim. Suddenly , dr. Kim said, my parents needed to apologize for him. He said we are rude. Dr. Kim looks weirder that time. He yelled to my parents while my little brother watched them, shook his hands and head. My brother still feel the pain inside and outside of teeth and gum. He can't chew the any food that at all because of the toothache on both side. My brother just can eat some yogurt and porridge. read more

Went for the first time to just have the general check-up and find out what has made my gum swollen. All the staffs were very friendly and didn't make me wait long (Unlike so many other places that makes you wait at least 15 minutes to see a doctor although u've made an appointment..) Loved how Dr. Kim explained every procedures he was doing on me cuz that made me less nervous:) I've got to fill two cavities which he showed exactly where they are after taking this simple photo scan that you don't even need to go to separate X-ray room. I thought that was so cool! Got my cavities filled up and after making another appointment for seeing a hygienist, I was left with such a clean and fresh teeth. I appreciate how Dr.Kim told me to just have the scaling done first and wait to see if my swollen gum might get better instead of having any other procedures done right away. I'm definitely going to make this place as my primary dentist. Doctor's great skills and friendly staffs definitely deserve five stars or more! read more

I went in to get my annual cleaning that I pay for thru insurance monthly and is preventive care and they wanted to charge me $49 for the cleaning. The dentist told me he has to charge me because he gets $0 from the insurance and has to pay the dental hygienist. I reported them to the California dental board and filed a claim with my insurance. I have never experienced something to fraudulent. read more

I came from another state (Nevada) and was looking for a new dentist for my family and I. I searched online and noticed Dr.Kim has two offices which one was in Laguna Hills and the other one in Tustin both with good reviews. Since Tustin is closer to me, I gave the office a try. At first, when I saw the complex of the buildings that were surrounded, I didn't know if it was a good idea because it does look a little bit old, however, when I went inside to Dr.Kim's office I was relieved. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I was pleased with Dr.Kim's surgery because after getting my wisdom tooth pulled out it didn't really hurt or swell at all. When I previously lived in Vegas, after getting my wisdom tooth pulled out from another Dentist, it hurt and swell for a few days, but not with Dr. Kim! I'm glad I found Dr. Kim because I don't need to worry about finding another Dentist! :) read more
