Didn't have to see a person at all, which is great for someone like me lol Others may not appreciate the impersonal nature of the transaction as much as I did. Room was large, bed was huge and comfortable, linens smelled fresh. Furnishings were suitable for the theme of the Inn. Breakfast was adequate- yogurt, fruit, some packaged muffins, mini bagels, juice and coffee. Perfectly fine. You should be made aware when you book, but there's no elevator so you're carrying your bags up those steps (see my pics). We were here at the end of September during some sort of freak heat wave and the poor little window AC was doing its best to keep up. I was comfortable; my husband was hot. I just appreciated they had AC at all. It's just a very large room with high ceilings to try to cool with a small unit.

Quiet little street (I'm a city girl) - can see Mine from window looking out front of 2nd story. If you are from the country, you will think it is a highway out front. I lived by the freeway in MN so this is quiet to me. Room has everything a girl needs, except food - and that is walking distance. On second look, there is coffee and water in the lobby. You can probably find a muffin or tangerine in the fridge if you want a little snack. Cute little park area (very small, think tiny mountain town) across the street to walk dogs. Flowers are gorgeous. More later...

It sent me to another booking company and I reserved a room on Jan. 15th. We arrived early and called to get an early check in. There was NO FRONT DESK to check in. There were NO PEOPLE on the property. We waited till check in time. We waited another half hour (in a blizzard) in the parking lot. NO ONE EVER SHOWED UP. THE PROPERTY WAS APPARENTLY CLOSED FOR THE SEASON. Now they refuse to refund my money. They are still booking rooms and cabins on at least 3 booking sites. Beware! This place will scam you.

Then after our stay we were charged an extra $30 because they said we broke the fan, which we absolutely did not! They didn't tell us about it and they would not return our calls. I had to trick the lady to call me back by leaving a message about renting a new room and when on the phone finally she became completely hysterical and yelled at me about how we "trashed the room" because we left sheets on the floor... we didn't use some of the bedding because it was so hot. The only reason we rented a room here for 4 in our group because the ad says it sleeps 6. We reserved through Expedia which defaults to 2 and forgot to change it. We acknowledged 4 would be staying with us when checking in and she charged us extra for that as well. I recommend the Hampton Inn up the street where the rest of our group stayed. It was cheaper and sooo much nicer and free breakfast.

The ambiance in this place is so gorgeous. Okay so the important part is the good!! I ordered the wedge salad with their green goddess dressing. It was THE BEST I HAVE EVER EATEN. I ordered the lobster tail with augrotten potatoes First the potatoes could use some seasoning but they were good not over cooked or anything. I always confuse gotten with scalloped. I thought it was the same but I guess they aren't. These were good. The star is the lobster tail. It was nice size larger than the 6-8 ounces. Cooked perfectly seasoned perfectly. Tasted divine in hot clarified butter. It also was served with green beans which I really don't like but these were very good The house white wine was delicious and the server was great. My husband order the shrimp breaded with a baked potato and garden salad with French dressing. The shrimp were hand breaded in panko not a lot of breading but enough to give a nice crunch. I was looking for ward to breakfast here but we didn't try it this trip. He also drank a draft beer and said it was good. The service was excellent. The waiter was kind CLEAN AND ATTENTIVE The decor is gorgeous and historic but pleasing to the eye. The restaurant was spotless clean. They served fresh hot sourdough bread on the table and I would drive the 6 hours just for that. I can't wait to go back

This is a great spot for a family vacation…read more We stayed in the Pioneer cabin, which was comfortable for our family of four. Some of the cabins are new and some are modernized older buildings. We loved the rustic interior of our cabin and, being used to camping, appreciated the basic kitchen and bathroom with shower. Wickiup Village is a short distance from a lot of great South Dakota attractions: Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse memorial, the Needles Highway, and the towns of Deadwood and Lead. You can even get to Wall Drug and Badlands National Park within two hours. There is a store and restaurant within easy walking distance, which came in handy. The staff was great and went out of their way to make sure everything was going well. This might not be the place for you if you're used to five-star hotels, but if you want to stay in a place with charm and unique character, don't pass up Wickiup Village.

Renting the tubes were cheap, and there's a little river that runs through the campground, so that was nice... Good location, about an hour from Mount Rushmore. Every cabin is different though. So MAKE SURE you're getting what you ordered otherwise you'll end up in a completely different cabin. Ultimately I felt misled because I got a different one than what I ordered on Air BNB. The wifi didn't work, and I was pretty disappointed that I had to take freezing showers.
