Not to be missed. I highly recommend booking a tour that includes timed tickets to the US Capitol…read more I used DC by Foot. Reason for using a tour guide is It's extremely crowded at the Visitors Center, and constant crowds of students on field trips to learn about our branches of government. The DC by Foot guides are very knowledgeable, they know where to go in the Capitol. The guide I had got House Gallery passes for our group and the commemorative 250 yr (US Semi quincentennial) admission tickets. I learned you can tell if the House or Senate is in session by looking to see if the flag is raised or not on the House or Senate side. The other part of the tour is watching a presentation then going with the US Capitol guides in red jackets and using audio to view the art and history. I also liked the souvenir shop there too so I got commemorative 250 items.

Surprisingly, this restaurant actually was good, and the desserts were excellent. It was better than trying to find someplace to eat. They also had one of the best gift shops I had seen all week. The tour guide was extremely helpful with tips of other places to go, pointing out that we had direct access to the Library of Congress. This is definitely a must see. I had no idea you could walk to it from the capital, and then it actually was an active library.

We were treated royally ! We would highly recommend this tour group for their outstanding personalized care!

Because it is daunting to plan a trip half-way around the world when there is only limited travel information available, I decided to use experts who have actually lived in South Africa AND know what it is like to be a tourist there. They have test driven all their recommendations for safety, comfort, value, and reliability. I have to say that I hit a real home run by picking this company. Everything fell into place from the airport pickup clear though my airport drop-off. In the process, I experienced the trip of a lifetime that far exceeded my expectations which included terrific guided tours of major visitor destinations, scrumptious accommodations, horseback riding through wine country, and a safari experience that knocked my socks off. Plus they made me realize that luxury was not beyond my pocketbook! Using Wild Life Safaris was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

My husband and I used Connoisseur Travel and hired Lynne Manganiello as our travel agent to help us…read morewith our week long trip to Ireland. Lynne is a charm to work with! Having never been to Ireland before, we gave her a list of our top things to do, our budget, and an idea of our accommodations. Lynne totally knocked it out of the park! She planned us the most amazing itinerary to explore both the tourist and local side of Ireland, all within our budget. Once we got overseas, there was not one issue with our flights or rental car, the hotels were comfortable and accommodating, and all of the events she planned for us to do were top notch and so amazing. Lynne can adapt any vacation into what you want it to be, and if plans change (like ours did, we originally wanted to go to Iceland and Ireland but then changed our mind)... she can alter your reservations and agenda without any hassle at all, just like she did for us! She was responsive to emails and phone calls, knowledgeable, and the whole planning experience was made stress-free thanks to Lynne. I would highly recommend Connoisseur Travel's Lynne Manganiello. We will be keeping her in mind for our next trip in 2020 to the Greek Islands!

My experience began with a very pleasant phone conversation about my hopes to plan a Washington DC trip for my grandmother with Connoisseur Travel's assistance. It was followed by no communication, help, or results with airfare, hotel recommendations/bookings , or tours over a 2-week period. I contacted Connoisseur directly to notify them of the lack of service and professionalism I had experienced. They responded with apologies, detailed questions and statements about how they planned to rectify the situation, and ideas about my Washington DC trip. With reservations, I decided to give the new associate a second chance because she seemed genuinely apologetic and knowledgeable. 2 weeks later my trip had not moved forward with Connoisseur's help. I ended up booking and reserving everything on my own and the prices had gone up because of all the time that had passed. I foolishly did not reach out to any other travel companies and trusted this company to help me and they failed. I am posting this review because I hope it helps others that might find themselves in my situation.

If you're judging me right now, fear not, I'm also judging me. Yet, I'm still surprised because I clearly kind of liked everything I did. As someone who frequently ignores the tourist buses in NYC, I found it rather ironic that I'd be doing the same thing in DC. I have numerous family and friends throughout the area, yet none have ever bothered to take me on the kind of joyride that Doubledecker Tours has. After multiple trips to the DMV (#1) I've only had a chance to see the touristy sites with other out of towners. The ride was always relatively comfortable and it totally beats having to drive myself to any / all of these places. Hopping and off is the real sell in my opinion. It's one thing to listen to the spiel of the driver / host, but it's another to actually get off and explore the actual site. Just remember that taking pictures from the bus vs the actual location. Taking pictures from the bus is nothing close to doing it in person (#2) But of course, there are some things that aren't so great. Seats aren't exactly comfortable and taking pics is a real pain when the car is in motion. During peak months / travel times, the buses can get crazy crowded. It's also not exactly cheap, I think I paid $70 in my last day pass. I am sure the price is different for seniors and children. One last tip: Always check the weather the day of -- there's a chance it could rain and no one likes being subjected to a shower while on a bus. They may provide rain ponchos, but don't count on it. When it does rain folks tend to pack the lower level and it gets really stuffy and uncomfortable quick. ___________ (#1) DC, Maryland, Virginia. Yes, really. (#2) If this isn't obvious to you, stay on the bus. Don't ever get off.
