These are the only electricians that I would let into any house in Philadelphia. They rewired all of the knob and tube in my daughter's historic rowhouse in East Falls which was about 90% of the house. We purchased all new fixtures which they installed with incredible wireless 3-way switches. There was never a question about getting a permit, they applied for it, or how the work was going to be done. Gary's proposal was thorough and specific, and his crew knew exactly what to do. We hired Stahl Electric to do a full rewire on our house to remove all of the old knob and tube wiring and upgrade to a 200 amp service. The job included adding a number of ceiling fans and light fixtures throughout the house, more electrical outlets, and a new doorbell. It was completed May-June 2017. I can't say enough about the phenomenal job that Ira's team did for us! The estimated time for the job to be completed was 4-6 weeks and they finished in exactly 4. Every morning, the guys (Lou and Alex) showed up right on time. I'm at home with a new baby at the moment so I was around a lot while they were working. They were extremely polite, friendly, and answered all of my questions knowledgeably. They did a full day's work, and always spent the last 30-40 mins of each day cleaning up, vacuuming any bits left on the floor, and moving furniture back to where they found it. You could barely tell they had been there after they left! Another thing I really appreciated was that they knew we were very concerned with keeping the job as close to the original estimate as possible. So they always pointed out when unexpected things came up, and gave us options of how the issue could be handled. Finally, now that the job is complete, we have a few, VERY SMALL places where we need to spackle and touch up paint but nowhere near what I assumed we might be left with after a huge job like this. It's almost like magic! They replaced all of the old wiring in our house and you can barely see any evidence that they were here at all. And now our house is safer, more comfortable to live in, and our homeowners insurance is going down by more than 50% per year! We'll absolutely use Stahl Electric for all of our electrical needs in the future and would 100% recommend them for any job, big or small. read more

I've used Stahl Electric ever since I first moved to Philadelphia almost 20 years ago and they were recommended by Arch Street Lighting. I've had them in my current house at least a half-dozen times for new outlets and light fixtures, as well as little things like fixing my doorbell and broken switches. When Alex told me the last time he was here to install some new ceiling fixtures that I had knob and tube wiring that really should be replaced (something I'd always suspected due to the age of the house but didn't really want to know about), I decided I'd better just get it done instead of brooding about it. Ira came to give me an estimate; he went over the whole house with me, explaining what would have to be done, counting all the fixtures, outlets, and switches so he could give me an accurate estimate (which ended up being exactly the price I paid, no unpleasant surprises at the end). They were so busy that the rewiring had to be scheduled a couple of months later, but when the time came for the work they were able to put extra crews on the job and instead of the predicted week and a half it only took four days! The guys who did the work were absolutely fantastic; they carefully covered everything with plastic (furniture, the clothes in my walk-in closet; I mean EVERYTHING) and dropcloths on the floors. They made only very small holes in the walls, and not nearly as many as I expected, and patched them very nicely. They cleaned up so thoroughly every day and moved my furniture back into place so perfectly that I could hardly tell they'd been there. Matt was very good about explaining everything they were doing and letting me know when I had choices about things like the locations of switches and outlets. And all the guys, several of whom I knew from earlier jobs in my house, like Louis and Alex, were friendly and courteous -- as Stahl's electricians have always been -- obviously mindful of the fact that they were invading my home and disrupting my life, and trying not to make it any more unpleasant than necessary. I have to really mention Kelly in the office as well; she is always so helpful and friendly and efficient when I call that I couldn't ask for a better customer service experience. I had been really dreading having to have the work done, but in the end it was not a bad experience at all and was over with so quickly that I was absolutely thrilled. Stahl recently completed a three-week major rewiring project in our home. I was happily surprised by every aspect of our experience: the fair and competitive pricing, the crew's excellent workmanship, how clean, quiet and considerate they were, and how non-disruptive this project was for me (I work in my home). The unavoidable damage to walls for such an extensive rewiring project was minimal--so much less than I expected! Stahl's lead guy on the job, Mike along with his crew, did a great job of patching those tiny holes so all we need to do now is repaint those small areas. Stahl found and fixed problems that our prior (well-regarded) electrician didn't understand. They also identified code compliance issues that likewise the other firm didn't find. Because Stahl's pricing is reasonable, we were able to add to our project. We installed new recessed lighting in our living room, had the crew rewire old ceiling fixtures (saving us the cost of buying new fixtures), and switched the fluorescent lights in our finished basement over to LED. I recommend Stahl Electric for major rewiring projects without hesitation. read more

I wrote a positive review for Stahl Electric almost 2 years ago and wanted to update it after last month's major rewiring project. As a visual artist with a home studio, I've come to view my house as a functional art project, especially in the last decade. Whenever a renovation required electrical work, I always contracted with Stahl Electric because of their professionalism, expertise and attention to detail. I must admit that I was not looking forward to the rewiring project because my lovely (but old) stone house had a lot of old knob and tube wires throughout. Such infrastructure work is not only unglamorous, it also often involves damage to walls, floors and ceilings in order to gain proper wiring access; But Luis and the other electricians who worked with him, mainly Alex and David, totally put my mind at ease as they methodically worked from my third floor to the basement. It took about three weeks to complete, as predicted, but it could not have gone better. Luis and the crew were always timely, pleasant and considerate of my home by preventing mess when possible and cleaning up after themselves when mess was unavoidable. Minimal repair work was needed overall as they really worked hard to fish lines without making unnecessary holes. And I'm so glad all the old wiring was removed from my third floor knee walls and basement. Luis made sure that every existing wire is now functional and safe. Luis always clearly answered my many questions on site. I also appreciated his helpful suggestions for updating certain electrical features, especially with outside lighting. So while I am relieved that this last major project is finished, I can also say that the electricians at Stahl Electric, once again, did an outstanding job. As a new homeowner, I needed some modest electrical work for my 1920s row home. I wanted two ceiling fans, a dedicated outlet for the fridge in the kitchen, dedicated outlets in each bedroom that could handle air conditioners, a GFCI outlet in the bathroom and an updated electrical panel. Ira from Stahl came to my home and gave me a free estimate. Within two days, he sent an itemized list outlining the cost of each part of the project. He said it would take three months to get on the books because they were busy and the project would take two days. He was exactly right. The electricians, Aaron and Elvis, showed up on time each day and didn't even take lunch, working the entire day to finish by five. They were courteous and professional, covering anything that could be damaged and cleaning up entirely. I found Stahl's prices to be totally reasonable among the three estimates I got for the same work. Quality work is costly, but it shouldn't be outrageously priced. I recommend getting three estimates (even if you have to pay for them) and going with the company that is responsive and seems reasonable. For me, that company was Stahl Electric.
