Wine Cellar Experts - Meet Richard Benson, a world class wine cellar expert, creator, designer and builder.

If you are looking for a cookie cutter wine wall just like the one next door, Rick is not your guy…read more I can't say enough about the skill and artistry Rick and his team at Wine Cellar Experts put into their creations. The visual appeal he is able to create is unlike anyone else in the Valley, but that is only part of the story. Unlike other Valley designers, Rick is an expert on proper storage of wine and he incorporates individual wine tastes and lifestyles, as well as the owner's style and desires, into each design. The most significant difference, and reason why I recommend Wine Cellar Experts over anyone else in the Valley, is because Rick is focused on how he can create a true wine experience for each client. There is nothing like having company over for dinner and taking them into the wine room to be able to share memories about where a bottle came from or why it is special as we pick it from our (truly beautiful) shelves. Rick's work gives people the opportunity to create and share stories, making it that much more special every time we pull a cork--and he does so with integrity, trustworthiness and genuine talent. If you are looking for the best, Wine Cellar Experts is it.

Impressed with his work, I asked him to design a cellar for a home that my wife and I were remodeling a summer home on San Juan Island in Washington State. The wine cellar that he created is spectacular. The design that he created in CAD was breathtaking and the actual work was not just a mirror image of his drawings, it is impeccable. We are so thrilled that I simply can't say enough about Richard and the value that he added to our home. He completed the project on time and was a pleasure to do business with. "No" was simply not in his vocabulary. When faced with the challenges that a remodel often has, he met each and everyone of them head on without blinking. Need a wine cellar that is second to none? Call Richard and ask him to send you a photo of mine. Albert Shilton, San Juan Island, WA

But over time, as more issues came to light, I felt compelled to speak up. First, nearly every piece of furniture she brought in was used. While I don't mind refurbished items, I do expect functionality. The desk in my office, for example, was painted flat white and positioned against the wall to hide the fact it had a broken/missing drawer. My son received a queen-size bed frame, though he had a full-size mattress. Her solution? "Use the gap as a cup holder." I had to buy a new mattress to fix that myself. The "treatments" she installed in his room fell off the wall before she even finished the project. The living room fireplace I approved in white arrived gray--despite me explicitly saying I didn't want gray. She then "flipped" parts of the fireplace to create a makeshift cubby, which made it look completely different from the design I approved. She added gray barstools to "tie in" the fireplace, but they only highlighted how out of place everything was. In the kitchen, the hutch she "redesigned" was broken, so she nailed the broken piece above it as decor. She offered to make a custom cat door so my cat could eat away from the dogs. I thought it was a cute idea--until I realized she simply used doors with missing glass panels. I later found out the wallpaper she used on the hutch and in multiple rooms was just tack paper. It started peeling within months. When I began removing it, I discovered the walls underneath were never prepped or sanded. The wallpaper in my bedroom is now curling at the top and coming off entirely. She also painted my bedroom furniture with flat white paint, which now attracts dirt and needs repainting. My bed frame was never secured--it rocks back and forth--and the L brackets she promised were never installed. To top it off, she left outlet covers off, used a vanity to hide a large crack in the wainscoting, and the final product looks unfinished. It took her nearly a year to complete the project. I asked to be released from the contract more than once due to the delays, but she always blamed "staffing issues." Looking back, it feels like she sourced nearly everything for free or from discount sites like Temu to increase her profit. The invoices don't even reflect what was actually done, which feels incredibly shady. Most of what she brought in was broken and left that way. I do not recommend her to anyone for anything. Say no to the dresser.

I hired Ernesto after my failed attempt to pull together matching finishes for a kitchen that desperately needed updating. I had already installed flooring and counters... and gone through more than one iteration of backsplash tile. Ernesto bravely agreed to take on this troubled project. In the end I ended up repainting the cabinets from the first color we agreed on which felt dark and dreary. And am now planning to change the expensive wallpaper and custom faux finished hood included in his design. The biggest issue is that the warm brown is overpowering and this is literally my least favorite color. So as soon as I enter my kitchen I just want to leave. The other challenge is that some of the items he recommended were far out of my price range ($2500 for a single barstool). So I felt I had to source my own because he was adamant that we go with the custom one he advised. Had I had unlimited budget I certainly would have as they were beautiful and undoubtedly the highest quality. Durability was another concern with my pets and family. So the beautiful marble tile he selected for our bathroom just doesn't suit us. I would have preferred the relatively indestructible porcelain tile but... I hired a designer to advise me... not to debate. It is indeed luxuriously beautiful, but it windowpanes with each shower. Ernesto says this is because my installer didn't install it correctly. Either way: porcelain would have better suited us. So absolutely I would recommend anybody with a larger budget to hire Ernesto. And certainly some lessons learned on my end with regards to,first and foremost, finding my own clarity on my priorities when it comes to budget, style, color, etc...trusting my instincts, doing more of my own research, and advocating for my non-negotiables.

Through the years, he has managed to use family heirlooms in the numerous recreations of our rooms, harmoniously adding complementary furnishings, precisely selecting the perfect wallcovering, and using light and accessories to complete invariably charming and well-appointed spaces. I feel compelled to share my experience to help other property owners make informed decisions: Pros: -Quick initial response to concerns -Willing to remove furniture promptly when issues were raised Cons: -Poor quality of furnished items delivered -Furniture showed significant wear and damage -Items were noticeably dirty and poorly maintained -Unprofessional handling of refund situation -Poor follow-through on promises I paid $3,654.02 for staging services, but the quality of furniture delivered was severely substandard. My realtor documented approximately 40 photos showing multiple issues including: -Deep scratches and chips on furniture -Worn finishes -Stained upholstery and rugs -Excessive dust (furniture was so dirty you could write in the dust) -Generally dated and worn items When these issues were brought to the owner's attention, the same day as delivery, he initially offered a 50% refund and immediate destaging. However, despite multiple follow-up communications and providing my refund details, I have yet to receive any refund as promised. The owner cited a non-refundable clause in the contract, but this shouldn't apply when the service quality falls significantly below professional standards. While I understand staging companies have high overhead costs, delivering poor-quality, damaged, and dirty furniture is unacceptable for a professional staging service. What's more disappointing is the failure to honor the promised partial refund. I would strongly recommend thoroughly inspecting any furniture before signing off on services from this company and getting any promises in writing. I attempted to resolve this matter privately multiple times before posting this review. Unfortunately, the lack of follow-through on promised resolution left me with no choice but to share my experience to help others make informed decisions.
