Important also are integrity and accountability!! I have had the pleasure and good fortune to work with just such an Interior Designer here in Scottsdale, Arizona. I moved to Arizona from Southern California and though I was very pleasantly surprised by the abundance of on trend, great design, it was however, also NOT my experience that customer service at some of the most basic levels existed here. The sheer number of designer studios and retail establishments out here left me very disappointed as in most cases my entry to their establishments was treated with as much attention as a leaf blowing in the door...without acknowledgement or even the courtesy of a hello or even a nod to acknowledge I had entered as a potential customer or being a human being breathing in and out in their otherwise vacant stores. Prepare for a services culture shift if you plan to move out this way AND take my advice, reach out to Stefanie Rogan as she was the first Designer to show any assemblance of professionalism, engadgement or welcoming... it will be no surprise to you that she embodies all the greatest fearures of my above review and none of those which would be considered of the lesser discussed. Cultured, knowledgeable, objective and honest in her approach to her profession expressed through her role on my owm projects produce the desired outcomes and very happy customers, including myself in that number. Humility, professionalism and the highest levels of service are what I found in this very rare talent in this new place I call home. You deserve to have the best. His crew is respectful and always on time. They clean up the job site at the end of each day and are a joy to be around. Slade and his crew (and his wife, who Slade…read moreforced me to pay $4500 for her pretty worthless "design" services) remodeled our whole house, down to the studs, adding about 1k square feet. Once we signed the contract, the communication broke down. Slade was rude, confrontational and condescending. I have a list a mile long of problems during construction, but here are a few: he ordered windows for the entire house with grids, which we did not want. When we told him, he didn't care. He decided to make a major change to the slope / shape of the ceiling without telling us. Once construction was finishing, we began to notice the many construction flaws. We would visit the house and notice the wood floors warping - his poor plumbing caused repeated leaks to the new wood floors. He would do a poor job of putting new wood down and disregard the obvious mold hazard. It became clear that he pushed to get the job done quickly and cheaply, at the expense of quality and good workmanship. Before we moved in, we asked him to remedy the numerous issues. He fixed some, but many remained, and we gave up. A few to mention - the airflow throughout the house was always subpar. Temperature would fluctuate 5-10 degrees, with the master always the warmest by far. The windows didn't work well. Once moved in, the issues kept occurring. The biggest - we got a new washing machine and Slade's poor plumbing caused the washer to leak INTO THE WALLS. We had to move out to have new floors put in and learned that the subfloor was put in so poorly that it turned to dust when they tried to put down new floors. We learned there was A BASEMENT that Slade and crew either didn't notice or didn't tell us about. This remodel, only about 2 years after Slade's remodel, and due to Slade's plumbing / subfloor / basement oversight, took SIX MONTHS and cost over $100K. When fixing the disposal, we learned the electrical was not up to code. Now, upon selling the house, I have an inspection report a mile long with issues not up to code / general standards due to Slade's remodel, and once again, he denies/refuses to fix. This includes insulation, roof issues, foundation issues, electrical issues, plumbing issues, the same AC issues we'd complained about since the beginning. Slade has threatened to sue me if I post this honest review, but I have records of all of this and would be happy to share with him, his lawyers, or any readers who are considering Slade or his services.

We didn't need to change or compromise on our wishes to suite what was easily available. He listened and didn't try to sell us on things we didn't want, just simply said that he would make it happen and he did. Mind you, we had already gone through 4 other contractors that said our plan was too difficult to pull off, or that it would be months before they could get what we wanted and tried to move us to options with a quick and easy turnaround time with many of the things we wanted left out. And ladies, I'm sure you can appreciate this, he didn't ask to meet with my husband (who works crazy hours and told me to manage the remodel) before agreeing working with me. I'm so over contractors asking me if my husband would be ok with this or that, or wanting to meet with him before sitting with me. He was very respectful, and didn't throw off any creepy vibes. Once the contract was signed and I had picked an installer to work with, the work began within days. Not weeks, not months, DAYS. One of the cabinets arrived with a little damage, and he had a new one ready to go by that afternoon. This is not my first rodeo, and typically when something is damaged, it takes a week or more for a claim to be processed, throwing the whole project and other trades behind. I was shocked! The installers he recommended were also great, and so professional! They worked with our plumber, flooring and countertop people to make sure everything went smooth. They were also so friendly as well as knowledgeable. They were clean and didn't act bothered when I asked questions and were very patient with me. I would highly recommended Chasen Cabinets when getting quotes! I'll be using them from here on out!
