We usually have a Korean line dance class here in the mornings, and a few days ago there was a free…read moredance class, so I attended. The instructor, Tom, was very kind and taught the basics in such an easy and fun way, which made it a really enjoyable time. If possible, I think it would be great to come with friends to the group dance classes on Thursdays and Fridays. The studio is spacious, very clean, and conveniently located near Knott's Berry Farm, which makes it even better. They also offer venue rentals, so I'm thinking it for a special event someday. I truly feel grateful that we get to dance in a place like this.

And one hour Tango dance lesson from 7pm-8pm. $20 for the lessons and $20 for the party, cash or Venmo. I found myself amongst a group of elegantly groomed and dressed older folks. You may not know that there is a server gender ratio discrepancy when come to partner dances or any dance, period! It's always more ladies than men! LOL! Maybe that's why the women always win on the longevity race. Our dance instructors were very patient and it was easy to follow. We took turns to dance the male participants. It was lots of fun! I don't think there was food but people brought some snacks for the party so you might want to eat before the party. Large indoor dance space with wooden floor and mirrors; great sound system. Parking is competitive so come early. It's few minutes away from Knott's Berry farm.

And when I thought I hit my plateau, Te Varua Ori and Angela have definitely opened my eyes and saved the dancer in me. Angela is an extremely creative dancer, very strong in technique and skill, but so passionate within every movement. Watching her dance really captivate you and motivates you. Their lead drummer, Kalisi, is sooooooo freakin dope. I couldn't begin to fathom how crazy genius this guy is when it comes down to creating beats per Angela's movements. Everyone is so friendly, but has a good sense to strive to be the best. I also have to say this is the best looking group I've ever been with. Everyone is beautiful both inside and out! But what really is unique is how all of the other dancers and drummers have this natural vibe; like everyone feeds off of each other's energy. I kid you not, this group has it's own spirit that every dancer dreams of. The love. The drive. The unity. It's all there at Te Varua Ori. Try it for yourself, or come to one of our shows... You'll see what i mean.

Coming back to dance felt intimidating, but last year I found Uno's Dance on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I was nervous returning to dance, but I'm so glad I did. I was specifically looking for open-level adult classes and thought it would be fun to try a K-pop class. From the very first class, I realized this isn't just a typical dance studio--it truly feels like a community. Uno teaches full dance covers of entire songs, incorporates formations, and even films the dances in costume, which makes the experience feel complete and rewarding. There are also opportunities to perform throughout the year, which is a huge plus if you enjoy performing or want something to work toward. The environment is welcoming, supportive, and full of positive energy. I genuinely look forward to every class, and dancing consistently has also helped me with my fitness and confidence. Uno has been a big inspiration in helping me rediscover my love for dance, and I'm grateful for the friendships and experiences I've gained here. I highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a fun, encouraging place to dance and grow.

I feel so blessed to have such an instructor who always motivates and takes personal interest towards the fitness for each individual in the class. I love the Killer body class wherein it is the whole body workout. Fun part is that it is not only workout but she also adds little dance movements like salsa, K-pop, shuffle dance for 10-15 mins along with the signature steps of the popular songs. I'm so happy to be a part of this fitness center where I made genuine friends and my teacher is so much dedicated and passionate that there was no day when the Studio was closed or the teacher was absent in this entire past 2 years. She is really a great guide and highly inspirational. Love you Uno :).

Our oldest daughter took a one-time class here with her Girl Scout troop…read more It was just one class, but I was profoundly impressed. Strong Dance is located in a strip mall on Walker Street in Cypress. There's plenty of free lot parking nearby. When you walk in, you'll most likely be greeted by a friendly person at the desk just to the left. The studio itself is deceivingly large. There are a few dance rooms and TONS of sitting room for parents and siblings. It's clean. And tastefully decorated with large framed black and white photos of their students with their dance biographies. Our daughter brought her own jazz shoes, but the studio also had some available for the girls to borrow. Ms. Esther was our troop's patient and enthusiastic instructor. All the girls seemed to enjoy her style of teaching. If we didn't live quite so far away, this would be a spectacular place for our daughters to learn and grow!

Two years ago I wrote a review about how true this studio was to its motto - Building Confident…read moreKids. Now, I think the owner Rachel should consider changing it to "Building Confident Kids, and then Breaking them Down." Last season, after being at the studio for four years, my 12-year-old daughter was frustrated in class because she felt like she wasn't improving like she wanted to. She thought it was because there were too many girls being promoted before they were ready. I heard this same complaint from other parents. The teachers were great, but the over-promotion lowered the quality of the classes. I grew to believe that the focus at the studio was on the younger dancers, and that the promotion helped them feel motivated to stick with dance. While I wasn't happy about how this younger-child focus served my older child, I respected that it was the owner's choice to make with her business. I sat down with the owner Rachel, who I considered a friend, to discuss my daughter's frustration. She said she could relate, and that when she hit that point at her own studio as a kid, she started taking a few classes at other studios. She said my daughter might consider that soon. It was an unusual suggestion, although I told her I appreciated her giving her blessing. I appreciated that she was willing to acknowledge the limitations of her studio, and willing to suggest a solution that would allow my daughter to transition to the next level with dignity. At the beginning of this season, my daughter said she did want to try one class at another studio. Since I already had Rachel's blessing to try a class at another studio (which I didn't technically need since there was no policy against it), I let her know via email that we were doing this, but that we were still planning on staying at her studio. About two months later, I received a surprising and carefully worded email from Rachel. She was "disenrolling" my daughter, effective that day, for trying a class elsewhere. After 4 1/2 years at the studio, without any problems leading up to that, she was kicked out without discussion. For 4 1/2 years, my daughter strived to be a role model at the studio, with Rachel often requesting her to apprentice the classes she taught. I paid by auto pay or prepay consistently, volunteered backstage, and was supportive of the environment she claimed she wanted to create. It was a shock to our family, and to many others at the studio. But, I'd been warned by multiple parents that Rachel held grudges against dancers who tried classes at other studios. On the one hand, I regretted not listening to the advice to keep it a secret. The silver lining, though, is that I am no longer lining the pockets of a woman who would treat a reliable client this way - let alone a child! I give one extra star because the teachers were very good.

Wow, it has been years since I've written a review, yet I feel strongly enough to do so today…read more My daughter has been going to Academy 831 for the past year or so, and she started when she was around 4 years old. In the beginning, I enjoyed having my daughter here because there are big windows where I can see how she is doing, and the place is clean and spacious enough to not feel crowded. That is still the case, and the front staff is very friendly, accommodating, and informative with everything that goes on at this studio. I have had very little interaction with the owner so I can't speak to that, but overall this place seemed like a good fit for the past year or so. However, over the past 6 months or so, I've noticed a change in my child's behavior when it comes to participating in dance class. I believe that difficult situations can make my kid stronger in most regards, so I chose to observe rather than pull her out of dance as soon as she wanted. I am able to take my daughter to dance class every other Wednesday, and what I've observed is a complete lack of empathy, compassion, and kindness from Miss Megan, one of the dance teachers that teaches on Wednesday's from 5-6 pm. Over the course of a few months, I noticed some instances that I kind of brushed off as structure and a part of the growth process; but now that I look back on it, I was so very wrong. Some instances include: when my kid was having a bloody nose before dance class and she wanted to come out to blow her nose during class, Miss Megan did not allow her to. When my kid said she needed to use the restroom, Miss Megan did not allow her to. I have heard Miss Megan say, "you're fine, you don't need your Mommy" on multiple occasions. Yesterday, was my final straw. Yesterday, my kid was having a rough day. She fell during class, and she had a noticeable cry out. She looked like it hurt her to continue. I opened the class door to say "what happened?" Miss Megan said "oh she just fell, she's fine." Did Miss Megan physically walk over to check on her? No. Later on towards the class, my kid got her finger slammed by the door while going into the classroom after changing into her tap shoes. She immediately fell to the floor. While I'm holding my 2 year old, I yell out to my husband to go help my child who is on the floor in tears from the pain. Where is Miss Megan? Sitting on her bottom. The only thing she moved were her eyes. Not even a single intent to move her body to check on an injured child. This speaks volumes to how much she cares about the children she "teaches." Thank you to the owner, Christa (I'm gathering from yelp review replies), for offering an ice pack, as I'm fumbling to try to get a cold water bottle from the vending machine, and a bandaid for my inconsolable child. My kid's finger has a huge cut and her nail is black and blue, I wouldn't be surprised if the nail falls off during the healing process. I'd like this to serve as a reminder. These "dance teachers" are teaching CHILDREN. Children have immature brains and cannot process situations easily. They need to feel safe and nurtured and they need to feel like their basic needs can be met easily, such as having the freedom to use the bathroom when they need to or find their Mommy to blow their nose if they can't breathe through it. We will be finishing up this "season" of dance because my kid likes to perform, and we will be looking for a new studio that has a little more compassion and passion for teaching children. I'm a pediatric provider, and this is 100% NOT the way we should be treating our kids. As long as Miss Megan is a teacher at this school, there is no place for my children here.
