Genny has been communicative not only with my parents, but with me. Recently, she went above and beyond before, during and after Hurricane Ian. Genny was truly one of my lifelines throughout the devastating event. During the long power outage and lack of cell service in the area, Genny managed a way to remain in contact with me. She always responded to my texts/calls--both night and day. She continued to reach out with sincere concern and compassion for my parents and their situation(even though she herself was trying to navigate the aftermath of the hurricane on behalf of her own family and business). I am forever grateful for my parents' safety. Additionally, I am grateful for people like Genny who remained connected with me during an extremely stressful and frightening time. Thankfully, Genny, her family and her employees were/are safe as well! :) To say "thank you" is an understatement... ;)

Let me start with full disclosure. I worked for Right At Home for quite some time doing scheduling…read morefor home care cases. I am now retired. That being said, I've also worked in the senior care industry for well over 30 years and viewing things from the inside, I can tell you that these people go WAY out of their way to accommodate if they possibly can. Honestly, it was a bit frustrating for us as schedulers but now that I'm retired, I will not hesitate to call them if and when my need for home care arises! How are they different? 1. Most companies will schedule whomever without taking into account the person's needs or wants. Not so here! Quality assurance is the priority. Need someone for only four hours in the middle of the day? Call RAH! Need 24 hour staffing starting NOW? Call the office number. They don't have an answering service. You talk to a REAL member of the office staff and they will have someone on the way to you within the hour. 2. There is a huge difference between home care agencies and home care registries. Agencies actually hire and fire their workers and are supervised by case managers within the agency that will check on those employees at irregular intervals. Registries are placement services that maintain documentation provided by the worker. They are supervised by the client. BIG difference, especially if you are out of town and relying on someone to take care of mom or dad. If mom or dad has dementia, can they supervise their caregiver? How is RAH different? Case managers do drop ins. Not just during the day. Any time that is needed to ensure satisfaction and safety. If needed, Case Managers would fire staff and assume care until proper placement was provided. I worked in the office, but also in the field when needed. The local owners of this agency were careful to hire Nurse Assistants and Home Caregivers with stellar reputations and a love of the elderly. This ensures continuity of care. If there was an issue or even the hint of an issue with a Caregiver, we were required to go to the home, relieve the staff, and send them straight to the office for counseling. Sometimes at a moment's notice and with the understanding of the client or client representative. 3. Since registries don't have 'employees' and are basically placement services, they don't need worker's compensation insurance for field workers. Agencies actually hire, supervise and in some cases fire their workers. Worker's compensation insurance covers the worker while they are on the clock. How is RAH different from other agencies? There have been several instances where an employee hurt themselves (pulled back muscle lifting client, slipped on floor and fell, etc) and we were called in to staff so that the Case Manager could transport the person to the hospital for care. Sometimes with very little notice, a senior staff member including myself has staffed up to 10 or 12 hours at a time to ensure continuity of care. SO important when dealing with dementia cases! 4. Agencies do background checks and cannot start a worker until the employee is cleared. Registries require a recent background check from the person registering with them. I worked collecting documentation for a CNA program for several years and I know how easy those documents are to counterfeit. Because RAH does supervise and do background checks, the client or client representative is never put into the position of talking with a substandard employee. The scheduling staff will call the person and tell them that the client no longer needs them. They never tell the employee why especially if the client asks us not to. Background checks are just the beginning of RAH supervision. During orientation, the local owners Danielle and Peggy actually come and sit down with the newly hired workers and talk with them. Individual staff members go through their duties with them and show them how to do what needs to be done. Any questions they have are answered. 5. INTRODUCTIONS!!! Unless the client chooses otherwise, any new staff is introduced to the client and/or client representative by the Case Manager, Office Manager or even the owners of the company. The follow up of course, is the Case Manager's visit afterwards to make sure the client is happy. They are absolutely focused on client satisfaction and I am proud to say I worked for them. Their standards are high, and not everyone can meet that expectation! 6. Have a long term care policy but you aren't sure how or when to use it? There are people that work in the office that are experienced! They will sit down with you and help you figure out the best use of your benefits. As I said, I worked for these people and viewing this company from the inside, they do anything they can do to accommodate their clients. It sometimes makes it hard on the staff but we understand the end result. If I hadn't retired due to health I would still be there. Give them a try! You won't be sorry!

My mother has ALS and we interviewed with the OWNER Robert before hiring them. He assured me several times over his team were well skilled with using an electric hoyer. None of them were. It started off bad but because I was going out of town I had to trust that it would get better when they found they're groove. Every single day my mom called me telling me they were late, they didn't show ect., at one point Robert had to go to my moms home to put her into bed (because his help was a joke) and he pulled her catheter out while he was trying to get her into bed. I was disturbed this entire time and sent numerous letters to Roberts administrator only to get a call back that they would do better. Again, I'm out of town and there was no one else to tend to my mother. Today, I got home and went directly to my parents home where I find my mother in bed. NO ONE HAD SHOWN UP IN TWO DAYS!!! The last time a nurse had been there she left my mother's room a disgusting mess with old gloves, my moms pull ups and wipes just tossed around her room not to mention dirty clothes. My dad is going blind and with early dementia so he was not totally aware of what was left laying around. My moms meds were not given to her and her bathroom was a wreck with wash rags just thrown in and around the sink. THEN to my horror I find out one of the aides got my mother into the hoyer raised her in the air, she did not put sling on properly and mom started to fall out! The aide panicked and left my mom hanging in the air while slipping out and not secured at all until another aide could come to the rescue some 30 minutes later! My mom was mortified and I am livid!! I will not stop until all elderly agencies are aware of this horrendous company and that no one hires this joke of a company! Every administrator and the owner is complicit and should be ashamed! I would not even give 1 star except I had to go post review.
