Recovery House Just For You

Recovery House Just For You

My doctor was short on communication information, and therefore, it was hard for me to communicate my needs to Sarah. She was very understanding and sympathetic to receiving information at the last minute. The two other women staying there, as well as Sarah and Mama Paula, were so much fun to hang out with. It felt like a slumber party. It's a house setting, and it felt like staying with an Aunty and cousins. Coming out of the surgery, I felt too weak to eat, and Mama Paula spoon-fed me broth with noodles. She asked me about my allergies while checking in, and my doctor had prescribed a medication that makes me extremely nauseous. They caught this error and asked me if I wanted a different Rx from my doctor or to get an anti-nausea medication to take with it. They have snacks and bottles of water on display, so you can grab a snack or water when you need it. I got a lymphatic massage from my doctor's office and from Sarah. Sarah's was amazing. She really worked on draining and skin circulation.

Sarah FINALLY responded after I left a voicemail, sent an email, and completed a reservation form…read morein the website. Days apart, awaiting a response. I text this morning asking if they are no longer in operation. I got a VERY rude phone call telling me "we don't have your dates available, that's why I didn't respond". I asked why she couldn't have just responded to my email telling me the dates weren't available, as a professional.

I am very fortunate to be living at The Phoenix House Project! I have been here for 3 months and…read morehave benefitted greatly. It has helped me grow confident and strong in my recovery thanks to the resources offered here. It provides a stable, structured home-like living situation. I look forward to completing another 3 months which will allow me to become even stronger and more independent.

Highly NOT recommended. Amanda and Chris rent their houses from someone else, then rents it to…read morepeople in "recovery" at a ridiculous profit. They intake $15,000 cash per week. While I was there, a majority of the patrons at the house used, leading to not passing random drug tests. Rules of the house: Pay rent, stay clean and 90 meetings in 90 days or you're out. Their "you're out" consists of putting what belongings they think is yours in garbage bags, unsecured, and throwing them out on the lawn. Not very classy. They wont return belongings that they didn't pack. They open up people's packages that were delivered via USPS and putting in a "free-for-all" area. They hold USPS packages and will not give to the appropriate person they are addressed to. They are a disgrace to the society of recovery. Also, they only accept cash, which is highly sketchy. Last I heard, they Chris and Amanda were evicted from renting that house out. I'm not a spiteful person, but when you see people in recovery being walked on, it's just plain outrageous and pathetic. Please shut these houses run by Amanda and Chris down!

Dr. Casey Holmes performed a skin graft procedure on my nose a few months ago, post Mohs surgery…read more Not only am I pleased with the results, but I was always treated with respect during treatment. Dr. Holmes always was attentive to my comfort level and was on time for our appointments. What I liked most was that he himself administered the anesthestic and suture removal (didn't delegate those procedures to some "assistant".) I have no hesitancy recommending him to anyone who values professionalism and integrity.

I already had a prominent forehead and most likely was not an ideal candidate for this technique. I will now have to have a forehead reduction because I look terrible with such an enhanced prominent forehead. My lip lift has scaring which I was told I would have, although under my nose is still prominent. The corner incisions of my lip now takes on a more downward appearance as the corners are oval shaped with no natural tapering and just dead stop. No natural ending. I spent around $20,000, maybe more but I don't think I look any better in-fact worse. More time should have been spent with me. I only saw the doctor for my initial consult and Never again until surgery. When I asked the administrator she said I didn't need to meet with him and he would see me the day of surgery. I should have spoken up but I didn't. Sorry to say I would not recommend this practice. Maybe it was an off day but I didn't feel well cared for. Dr. Agarwal did see me post surgery to make a correction of a residual vertical lip line and I did appreciate that.

David Lawrence Centers - Lawsuit filed against David Lawrence Center for patient committing suicide while in David Lawrence Center

In July 2022, I voluntarily admitted myself to the David Lawrence Center because I needed help. I…read morewas told I'd be out in 72 hours, but they ended up keeping me for 10 days. My mom had to get a public defender to get me out, so my heart breaks for the ones who weren't as "lucky" as I was and are still in there being held against their own will. Imagine being depressed and wanting to get help, so you admit yourself, just for them to hold you against your will after 72 hours? I didn't think it could get worse in that situation, but I was sadly mistaken. For the first 3 days, I wasn't seen by a doctor at all and was told he doesn't work weekends. After checking in, they took all my belongings, including a prescription from my purse. That particular medication is known to cause seizures if it's stopped abruptly, and yet they still wouldn't give it to me until I saw the doctor. The negligence, abuse, and malpractice were unlike anything I've ever experienced or seen before, especially considering I came there SEEKING HELP. Some of the staff there were extremely aggressive and violent, and should be starring in horror movies instead of working with patients. If someone from the outside were to observe how some of the staff treated us, they'd have to question those employees' intentions. They're sick in the head for treating us the way they did and need to be evaluated themselves. By the time I was finally discharged, I was barely functioning. I felt like the equivalent of a "walking vegetable" because of all the different medications they had me on. My mom had to become my full-time caregiver for 3 months, and I was on FMLA from my government job while she nursed me back to health. Shortly after being discharged, I got brain scans done at the Amen Clinic to try to get answers as to why I was in such a vegetative state, which showed I had a traumatic brain injury. HOW HAS THIS PLACE NOT BEEN INVESTIGATED BY THE GOVERNMENT DESPITE ALL THE COMPLAINTS? That is the real question! It's been 3 years since I left David Lawrence Center, and I still struggle with PTSD from the trauma I experienced there. It devastates me how much abuse goes on in psychiatric hospitals. This kind of mistreatment needs to stop! No one should have to endure what I and so many others did. I'm praying for the patients who are possibly still trapped in that system today is devastating, and I wish I could've done more for them when I still had a chance.

I said there must be in the front desk staff that I could speak to his supervisor. I asked him for her title. He said he did not know what she was the supervisor I asked for his position. He said he did not know what his position was either. If this is a facility dealing with mental health patients, and this is the type of conversations they have with their patience. I totally understand where they would be confused and not know what to do. It's a good thing. I am not the patient but my son is, and I can maneuver these shenanigans. But it does not reflect well on the center itself, and I'm not sure I would recommend it.
