Rented Stacy's South Haven beach property. If you are looking for a location with a beautiful view of Lake Michigan, this is it. Large deck with amazing view, as well as a three-season room with giant windows also giving an amazing view on those days the weather doesn't want to cooperate. Unfortunately, that is where it ends. From the minute we arrived, we had multiple issues. We negotiated a price for 5 nights with Stacy, the owner. The agreement included a 12:00 pm check in upon arrival, and a 12:00 pm check out for departure. We arrived at 12:00 on our first day only to be greeted by the cleaning lady who told us the previous guests had just left, and she needed three hours to clean. Upon reaching out to Stacy, we were told she didn't agree to that, as she had guests in the home, and that she had not agreed to a late check out on Friday as she had incoming guests. (We have the text messages to prove otherwise). So, we turned around and went back to spend the day in St Joe with our senior dogs who were anxious just to relax. (Be warned - if you bring pets, it isn't truly pet friendly, there is a very narrow staircase that you must carry your pet up and down to go outside. It is also not child, senior or disabled friendly). Upon returning to the home, we were now met with filth. Massive amounts of food crumbs on furniture, railing up the narrow winding staircase black with filth from hands, kitchen sink filthy with food and scum, coffee maker with leftover moldy coffee grounds, master bedroom bedding not washed (smelled of body odor so I had to wash and remake the bed myself), mold in lower bathroom, the list goes on. Later that evening, Stacy reached out to ask us to haul her garbage cans back up to the house and to let us know someone was scheduled to come work on the deck on Wednesday, in the middle of the day (this was not discussed before our arrival, again, messages to prove with date and time stamp). In addition to the filth, the quality of the supplies left in the home are lackluster to say the least. None of the bathrooms have matching sets of towels, there were no towels in the kitchen, the plates are a hodgepodge of different sets, eating utensils were of low quality. The toaster oven was disgusting and should have been thrown out years ago, and the coffee maker couldn't have been cheaper. I reached out to Stacy with the issues, which included having to cancel a business meeting with clients of ours due to the late check out not being honored, she ignored that feedback, stating we got the place for much less than she normally charges, she is sorry for the filth, but enjoy our time. (Screen shots available of her telling us to "make her an offer" on how much we wanted to pay for the week, and her accepting. Not our issue she took less than she states she normally gets). I had to email her back a couple of days later, telling her that her response wasn't acceptable, due to all the above and asked her what she was going to do about it. She responded by giving us HALF of the $250 cleaning fee back. Still no apology, no acknowledgement of an error on her part, just total gaslighting. Save yourself some aggravation - book elsewhere. read more
