We'd recently moved to a different state, so I had to go to a different store. I took my watch home and re-set the time and date, and put the watch in my jewelry tray. A few days later, I was heading to the pool to swim. I use the watch when I'm swimming. It's water resistant to 100 M (328 feet), and is specifically made for water sports. When I was done with my swim, I looked at my watch. The display was completely gray and brown, and there were water bubbles floating in the display behind the crystal! I immediately went back to the Batteries Plus since it's right near my gym, and the guy told me that because I wore it in the pool it's not his problem! Oh my God, it's a water resistant watch, and it says so right on the front of the watch! It's intended to get wet and be submerged in a pool! I had to argue with the guy to at least give me a refund for the battery price... As it was, I was paying for them to have ruined my watch. I did get my twentyish dollars back for the battery, but I'm out a $65 watch! Will I ever go back there? Never! UPDATE 5/10/25: The day after posting this review, "Frank M." from Batteries Plus replied to my review asking me to get in touch with them about improving my experience. (You can see that reply below.) Based on the email address, I believe that was someone at the corporate level of Batteries Plus. I sent an email to the address provided, asking them to reimburse me for the watch that was ruined. A few days later I received an email from Russell, the store manager at the Geneva location, asking for photos of the watch so that he could get the model number for the watch and replace it! I'd just recently thrown the watch away, but was able to retrieve it from my office wastebasket, and send him photos of the watch along with the user's guide that had identifying information and a long list of the watch's features and functions. Luckily, I still had the user guide from when I purchased the watch and didn't even think of that until Russell asked for the model number. Unfortunately, as I'd already discovered because I'd been looking for a replacement, that particular watch was no longer available. I gave Russell a couple of other options for a substitute and he graciously replaced the watch which I received this afternoon. I am upgrading my review from one star to four stars. (A five star rating would have been if my original watch hadn't been ruined, and if I didn't have to leave a negative Yelp review to get to as satisfactory resolution.) But, all's well that ends well. It's nice to know that this company will own up to their mistakes.

SWITCHING POLARITIES…read more Someone once asked my thoughts on a battery store, and I said "well, there's a lot of positives and negatives". Despite their signage out front saying otherwise, this business is listed as 'Batteries Plus' on Yelp. They can be found on the left end of a strip mall in Bolingbrook near the intersection with Weber Rd, near Charley's Cheesesteaks and KO Sushi on Boughton Rd. The other month my 3yo's toy plane ran out of juice, and he asked me to fix it. "Sure buddy, no problem", I told him, "how hard can it be to find a pair of LR41 button batteries? Shouldn't be that expensive..." Famous last words. Come to find out, not only are LR41 button batteries a non-standard type, but they're hella expensive ($5/ea). Button batteries are the bane of my existence and pose a serious health risk, so yes, I hate them with every fiber of my being. The sales associate helped me find what I needed, and $11 later my son's plastic model 737 was making its usual cacophony of noises. Whoever designed that !@&$% toy to use the most obtuse batteries available should be drawn & quartered like in medieval times (the era, not the dinner theatre). * TL;DR * If ever there was a niche store, it's Batteries + Bulbs. I shouldn't need to come back here, unless I'm dumb enough to buy another toy that's powered by atypical means (anything other than 'AA' or 'AAA' batteries). The store is organized well and serves its purpose, though not in a terribly exciting fashion. At least their name spells out exactly what's offered, no ambiguity here.

I went to Batteries Plus, where I have been a watch battery customer for years, and they quickly and effectively solved my problem. They got the needed battery the next day and installed it a day later. The iPad is again working fine. The cost was more than Apple quoted if they had the battery, but was worth it to me for the quick service and lack of extra travel. I don't know what Best Buy would have charged me.

The battery on my mower died, so I made the trip here to get a new one. The person who helped me…read morewas Jonathan. He found the battery I needed and I bought it. Knowing that my sump backup battery needed replacement, I got to talk with Jonathan about what I needed, and he showed me what would work for me. I came back the next day with the sump battery to do the core exchange for the new one. Jonathan came out to my car to get the old battery and carry it in for me. He also carried out the new battery to my car. In case you've never lifted a sump backup battery, let me tell you they are super heavy, not like a car battery. I appreciated his effort and his customer service to go 5 stars.

They changed the battery and it took me over two and a half hours to get the battery changed. I had the battery changed and my wife called me concerned because she had our two daughters in the car and she was driving down the street and the car stopped. This was one day after the battery was changed. The very next day we brought it to the jeep dealership where we bought the car and they said "we thought we have seen it all but this one takes the cake". They took a video and it is attached to this review - there is clear error in installation. I will post this video below. Here is the problem. I called them and admittedly it took me a while as I travel for work. They then took their sweet time not getting back to me with every excuse in the world. I want to be clear I asked for my money and I told them more importantly this kid is Going to hurt someone. My wife was in the middle of the street. I spoke to the manager who told me he would look into it. After getting back to me he said there was nothing they can do. DO NOT GET YOUR CAR SERVICED HERE IF YOU WANT YOUR FAMILY SAFE. after discussion with the manager he pointed out how I took too long to get back to them. He ignored the video. And told me with his employee told me that he was fixing it in a different way. In reality the Young man told me he had trouble loosening the nuts on my battery. To protect yourself and your family DO NOT go to this place. Frank - you asked me to reach out, I should have been more clear. I did that. Got the run around. Spoke to Anthony who was the regional manager and he told me there was nothing he could do. Bad business. Way to stand by your services.

I could not get off the back battery plate and asked store rep for assistance. The rep get the old battery out and replaced with new fresh battery in about 1 minute. I asked what I owed and was presented a $17.35 bill. I was not informed there was a charge for putting in the 3.00 battery. I did pay the bill and lodged a complaint with Battery Plus Corporate. To my great surprise Matt, the Store Manager, said he agreed with my assessment, had a meeting to instruct everyone to inform work costs before proceeding, and said that he would give me a full refund which he did on 2-4-2026. I am quite pleased that Matt was so forthright in giving my full purchase price back. I give high kudos to Matt and all the Batteries Plus store personnel. I will do all my future battery business at this sore. I was treated more than fairly and have high praise as to my customer treatment. Dennis Sadlicki
