Sales Invoice showing nearly $3,000 in extra fees and false advertising.
Jay See S.

BUYER BEWARE - TOTAL SCAM Company. Advertised price of $13,700, Invoice Price of $15,995 plus $1509 in dealer fees, minus a discount of $1,000 =$2,804 above sticker price. This is of course before taxes. The car was already over KBB by $3K and now they are trying to add another $2,800. That is nearly 40+% profit over before their trade-in discount. Imagine, car sales company making 50% of profit on a used car. PROFITS over PEOPLE! Avoid this dealer and beware of how these parasitic companies are ripping people off.

I have used Suncoast three times in the last 15 years, the last time being last Saturday 10/29/22…read moreand it continues to be my dealer of choice for their automotive line-up! They are a family owned and run operation that seems to pay attention to what matters to the customers and their staff go above and beyond to get the job done. This last purchase my previous sales representative Amy Walker (she was great our 2nd last purchase) wasn't in so we were pleasantly greeted with Devin Wilder's welcoming offer for assistance as we walked in the front doors. Devin, an associate with about 5 years of tenure from my recollection was great in product knowledge while maintaining a very positive "can-do" attitude throughout the purchase process in a comfortable and low-key manner that was simply enjoyable and stress free. Other administrative support staff were all extremely helpful and pleasant throughout the entire transaction. We had originally stopped to see a specific CPO used vehicle which had unfortunately for us just been sold and he offered us other options on a similar new and in-stock vehicle to which we happily agreed! The whole process from start to finish was as good as it gets in my opinion and we will be sure to visit Suncoast for our next vehicle sometime in the future. If you want a friendly, knowledgeable and relaxed, comfortable experience, see; Devin Wilder

When my check engine light came on, I discovered that the repairs were not covered as promised. The service center provided an inflated quote and were not willing to assist or work with me, despite the misrepresentation during the buying process.   After taking my vehicle elsewhere, a different dealership quoted the exact same repair for less than half of Suncoast's estimate. Further, the other shop discovered that the issue was actually fully covered under an active manufacturer recall, costing me nothing.   Beyond the sales dishonesty, routine service visits here were consistently frustrating, involving long wait times and repeated mistakes--including waiting 1.5 hours for a car wash only to be told they were performing an unrequested oil change instead.   I will never return to this dealership and strongly advise friends, family, and prospective customers to take their business elsewhere.

As a Yelp Elite I didn't see the reviews for this place until after I bought my car and if I'm…read morebeing honest, if I had, I probably wouldn't have gone here. But I'll tell you my experience. I was ready to buy my third car in life. I'm the type of girl who buys a new car and drives it for 10-15 years. I'm usually a Nissan girl but they got rid of their economy cars and so I ventured to consider a Corolla. I used a site called CarEdge to preshop and it's basically a marketplace for all cars listed on dealership sites. I like that I can set all my parameters for the car I'm looking for and it will pull up every car within that criteria within an 100 mile radius. At this stage I've already shopped credit unions for best rates and applied and was approved by Suncoast Credit Union. This, in my opinion, is the only way to buy a car. I don't want to be sold, I'm coming in to test drive because I already did the research online. I saw the carfax I can see how many days it's been on the market, I can see if it's priced fairly, I can see dealership fees, and a bunch of other helpful information. So I see a used vehicle at this Autonation and now I'm calling to see if I can test drive a specific car. And because it's freshly received to their dealership, I go back and forth with Bill Tracey a bit on if/when I can come up to test drive. Unfortunately it needs a part, it's gonna take a while to get it in and I work during the weekdays and live far so I can't just pop in when it's ready. He says come in, we have others. I'm dreading it because again, I chose the vehicle, I don't like wasting my time and being sold to. Long story short I go in on a Sunday and Bill finds me a NEW car for $500 above my cap on my out the door price and I decide, fuck it, let's go. But when he pulls it around it has a paint chip in the passenger side front door. No one knows how, the car has 5 miles on it but they say they can fix it. I'd like it to be tinted and I don't have a way to get my car back home if I took it off the lot today, so I say, no problem. I'll buy it, you keep it, paint it, tint it and call me when it's ready. When I come the following Saturday there is a women in the waiting area having a poor experience and she tells me this place is horrible which is when I look it up on yelp and I start freaking the eff out. And I start thinking of all the ways I may not have been as strict in the process but Bill comes and gets me to finish getting me my tag, giving me my keys and showing me how to sync my cars technology. I really appreciated Bill. I'm a no bullshit kind of lady and I appreciated his demeanor even though sometimes he'd say things that were like, duh, I would t expect anything less when I'm buying a new car, but honestly I was in there for three hours when I came to test drive and it turned into a purchase. I left excited, I feel I paid a fair price, Bill got me the color I wanted and surprised me with affordability on a new car and I took a chance on the paint chip and they fixed it so it was nonexistent. There's a lot of young kids who work there hanging out together, laughing and carrying on. Maybe it seems like they are having too much fun and not as professional of an establishment. I would say the demographic is diverse and me personally, I appreciate seeing that in any establishment. Bill was professional, kept in touch through the process and we had some slight back and forth when it came to understanding when my car would be ready, and would I have appreciated a little clearer experience of when it would be since I had to coordinate a ride to pickup. But he was great, and it was quick and I was happy. The car buying experience can be dreaded but this was good. I hope yall get better reviews. Glad I didn't buy a used vehicle, I would have been very nervous after reading these reviews, even in all the preparation I did. But also, make your own judgement, educate yourself, and empower and advocate for yourself. It's a sales business and you have to take charge and understand what you are doing. Good luck, ask for Bill

A young single mother, raising a son with muscular dystrophy, reportedly spent $10,000 on a vehicle that became inoperable within just two weeks. When she returned seeking assistance, she was allegedly told she would need to pay an additional $4,000 for another vehicle rather than receiving meaningful support or accountability. This story, now circulating on TikTok, raises serious questions about ethical business practices and the treatment of vulnerable consumers. Businesses that serve the public have a responsibility to operate with transparency, fairness, and integrity--especially when dealing with families already facing significant challenges. Rather than responding with hostility, the community should focus on lawful and constructive action: documenting complaints, reporting concerns to consumer protection agencies, organizing peaceful demonstrations if appropriate, and encouraging public awareness so others can make informed decisions. Accountability is essential in maintaining trust within any community.

DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM THIS PLACE, THE CARS ARE NOT RELIABLE…read more We bought a broken vehicle. He is not a trustworthy person. As soon as we left the store, the van broke down. The moment the vehicle malfunctioned, I immediately called him and informed him that I did not want to proceed with the purchase, as the vehicle was obviously defective. But the worst part was the lack of respect shown to me and my wife. He mocked my situation, treating us with extreme disrespect and lack of empathy. I have a record of everything that happened with photos, videos, and text messages. My wife and I are having many problems because of this; it is not a trustworthy store and this person is not trustworthy. I do not recommend doing business with this individual. I would very much like to say what I think, but I will not let my emotions control me. I just want to forget the terrible experience I had at that store and I deeply regret ever meeting this person. I contacted the bank to cancel the contract, and they informed us that only the seller could undo the contract. I contacted him, "Tom," to terminate the contract, and he mocked me, saying I could sue him and the store, speaking sarcastically and making fun of my situation. In another attempt to terminate the contract, he asked for $3,500 to cancel it, which makes no sense. Why would I pay that amount? The vehicle broke down 10 minutes after leaving the dealership. Another important point. At the time of purchase, he assured us that he had taken out car insurance, but later discovered that he hadn't, which is absurd because we could have had problems with traffic laws considering that insurance is mandatory in the state of Florida. He lied, saying he had insurance, but he hadn't. We left the place without the mandatory insurance. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THIS PLACE. This individual treated us with complete disrespect. From the first moment we had problems, he was sarcastic. He's saying the financing can't be terminated, but it can. I contacted the bank, informed them of what happened, and they told us that only the seller can cancel the contract. I contacted the seller to try to terminate the contract, and he, being very sarcastic and disrespectful as always, charged me $3,500 to break the contract, which is illegal. I informed the bank of this incident, that he charged me $3,500 to terminate the contract, and the bank told us he shouldn't have charged that amount. Not to mention that he also charged us for the towing, which is another absurdity because the car broke down when we left the store. It's important to make it clear that everything I'm saying is documented with photos, videos, and text messages. It's not safe to buy a car from this place; if you value your money, don't do business with this individual.

Buyer Beware I…read morepurchased a vehicle from AUTO BY TOM INC, and the car broke down immediately as I was leaving the dealership. I returned it the very same day and formally requested a full cancellation of the contract. The vehicle has remained at the dealership since that day -- I do not have possession of it. Rather than resolving the issue fairly, I was informed that the contract would only be canceled if I paid $3,500. I do not have this money, and I do not believe I should be required to pay thousands of dollars to cancel a deal on a vehicle that failed immediately and was returned the same day. I contacted the financing company and was told that only the dealership has the authority to cancel the contract. I have made multiple good-faith attempts to resolve this matter amicably, but I have consistently been told that cancellation will only occur if I make this payment. This situation has caused me severe stress and emotional distress. I am currently seeking psychological support due to the impact this experience has had on me. Additionally, I am deeply concerned about potential damage to my credit score -- something I worked very hard to build honestly and responsibly. I expected professionalism, transparency, and integrity when purchasing a vehicle. Instead, I feel trapped in a situation that could seriously harm me both financially and emotionally. Based on my experience, I strongly advise anyone considering doing business here to proceed with extreme caution and protect themselves carefully.
