Life happens, and I'd put off routine check-ups for far too long, but I recently decided to schedule an appointment for blood work and had a list of questions, along with a need for some advice and recommendations. Scheduling was a breeze. Their patient portal is user-friendly, and the response time was surprisingly quick. Despite my last-minute request, they managed to fit me in. In the past it would take me months to see my PCP. This was a big improvement. Everything, from lab work requests to accessing clinical notes and instructions is automated in their system, so there's no hassle. On the day of my appointment, I was pleased to find plenty of parking, even on a busy weekday afternoon, which is always a plus. The clinic looks amazing and they've clearly made major renovations. The space is bright, modern, open, and spotless, with an inviting atmosphere. The staff were professional, warm, and attentive. From the receptionists to the medical assistants, everyone made me feel welcomed. During my appointment, Dr. Kakimoto addressed all of my questions and concerns with patience and detail. Even though the visit lasted only about 30 minutes, I left feeling reassured, informed, and optimistic about my health. I also love the reminder texts and emails! So helpful especially when you have so much going on. All your clinical notes are available in their patient portal app for easy access as well as all your medical records, tests, and more. I highly recommend Dr. Amy Kakimoto and North Coast Family Medical Group to anyone looking for quality care.

OVER BILLING: Kara their billing coordinator will not take responsibility for billing issues and…read morehas alienated me over $50 because she won't fix their issue with Aetna. Aetna pays NCFMG over $500/visit and each visit I paid my PCP copay of $20. Yet the billing went through as if I saw a specialist ($45 copay) and I only saw a PA, plus North Coast doesn't have specialist they only do Primary Care. This was all because the doctors were listed incorrectly on the bill sent to Aetna. So I called Kara a few times, and I called Aetna a few times and then I put them on a conference call together, and then I followed up with Aetna several times to make sure they were fixing the issue. So after about 4 hours of my time and Kara blaming Aenta and Aetna blaming her I had to give up. And I had a final call with Kara and said there is no way I am paying the $50 because this was billed wrong, just on principal I can't and won't pay it. I can't believe I am ending a 10 year relationship with NCFMG who gets paid $500+ every time I visit over $50 I was wrongly charged for, that is brilliant customer service and a fantastic business model. Note for NCFMG if you even read these reviews: PA Noel and PA Morrison are setup incorrectly with Aetna. They had 2 profiles, one with UCSD and one without. Aetna billing uses the one without which makes them unrecognized so they bill as a specialist. So why don't you call Aetna and fix it before you have more patients leave you over erroneous billing.

I have been seeing Dr. Kadry here for 2 years. Although I am usually as healthy as a horse (are…read morethey really that healthy?) I have had to see him a total of three times. I'm paranoid about any symptoms and immediately think I have either A. cancer or B. Heart disease. Reasonable fears since both my parents died very young with those very diseases. I usually don't call a doctor unless I am panicking and needing an immediate appointment. Annoying patient I know. But they are always willing to work with me and get me in. This I like. They don't torture my hypochondriac soul by making me wait. So the reason I went yesterday is because I've been extremely dizzy for the past couple of days and am having trouble focusing my eyes and maintaining a balance. At work I looked like a pinball trying to work my way through the hallways. Well Dr. Kadry was very nice and calming because I seriously thought I was having a stroke or something. (Thank you Web MD.com) He told me most likely I have a severe inner ear problem and gave me reassurance and a prescription. That was before I stood up off the examining table and lost my balance and fell face first onto the chair in front of me. This concerned him enough to send me for more tests. He even offered to arrange a car service for me since he told me I would be unable to drive until my symptoms subsided. Really the bottom line comes to that he was patient, actually listened to me and didn't treat me like I was an irrational hypochondriac freak. Things I look for in a doctor!!! .

Small place that contracts out most of their lab work. Receptionist is very friendly and understanding when you have to reschedule your appointment. She also looks out for you and lets you know what your insurance will and won't cover. Also, she knows how to break down your services so that you won't get overcharged by insurance. Dr. Williamson is also friendly and big on nutrition if you ever feel the need to remind yourself to eat healthier. She has very good recommendations on good books and vitamins the average person should take. Overall, nice little place, but nothing exceptional. I like it because it's close to my place and they haven't don't anything rude like certain hospitals.

Everything takes *at least* 3-5 messages where you repeat the same things and there's a good chance they will still send in the prescription wrong and you'll have to start over. If I wasn't forced by my HMO to go there, I would switch in a heartbeat. Best part about changing jobs soon will be not having to deal with their shenanigans every 4-6 weeks. Instead of wasting time having people respond to every negative review on her, Scripps should hire more people for the offices or pay the people who are there more so they don't hate their jobs and they don't mind doing them.

It feels like you are talking to a call center people who will give you a scripted answer with no concern for the patients well being. No possibility of getting a call back from even a nurse.

However, depending on your…read moreassigned primary provider, it can be difficult to see the same person for annual wellness visits. This makes it challenging to build a consistent relationship and can feel impersonal. In one case, a pediatrician refused to prescribe an antidepressant for my child, despite her long-term therapist recommending it after other approaches had been exhausted. We had been actively addressing her care, but her depression was worsening. The situation was framed as though I was pushing for medication, which was not accurate--I was responding to clear signs of distress and her own requests for help. The pediatrician spoke with my daughter alone for approximately five minutes and appeared to make a decision based on that brief interaction. My daughter later shared that she felt uncomfortable, unheard, and somewhat led in her responses. Her condition worsened significantly, spiraling into SEVERE DEPRESSION and SELF HARM. While the provider was kind, the approach felt dismissive of parental input. It gave the impression that a brief interaction was given more weight than the insight of those more familiar with my daughter's history.

I practice more functionally based medicine than allopathic medicine. Dr Weiss is the most thorough provider I have seen in endocrine and I have seen a lot of other providers over the past 60 years. I feel that I have found also someone who can take wonderful care of my patients when I finally fully retire. My patients will be in wonderful caring hands. I am 71 but love my work. I will have to retire sometime. Dr Weiss is just the practitioner they need. They have found me looking for answers after so many other providers had failed. I am very grateful for the care she provides me and will give my patients in the future.

This took me a while to write this one up, and I hesitated on it because I think the doc is a…read morereally nice person but here it goes. I had been dealing with major health problems for over a decade and have done everything holistic that exists, so I thought ok let me try the traditional medical model just to see. Granted, I am major hate of big pharma and the western healthcare anyway but wanted to cover all my bases and get an opinion. To book the appt they charged me $75 off the bat, which is fine (I am a chiro and I also work with patients and it sucks super bad to have people flake on you or no show so I get it). When I arrived they charged me for the rest of the visit before I was seen. Annoying in my opinion. I mean, what if we did more or less than what the standard office visit is? But ok, a lot of offices do this now so that's fine. The part that pissed me off is that I had sent in all my labs, and there was a lot about a week prior and the doc was 30 min late to my appt. I had to wait 30 min! Then she told me she was reviewing my labs. Um....as a doc myself I ALWAYS review the clients' info prior to the appt, not during or before to the point I am late. During the lengthy visit I went over all my problems and the doc gave me one holistic suggestion after the other, after the other, after the other, meditation, grounding work, supplements etc. When I specifically said hey I have done and do literally everything holistic under the sun. I want something different. After all that, she wanted to order more labs, labs that I had done literally a month prior that were extensive to see if they changed since. I made it clear I am a cash client with no insurance and money is tight. I was upset she wanted to take labs "to see." I asked her specifically what her gut was telling her could possibly be wrong with me and she did not know. It is ok for the doc to not know, but I would have felt more respected and cared for if she simply said "I do not know how to handle your case, and I do not have any idea what it could be realistically" instead of wanting to rack up huge lab bills. I am sure she is a great doc when it comes to the typical diabetes or something that is more well known, but for my case it was a large waste of $250. I went seeking her medical knowledge, skills, and opinions and did not get anything out of it. She is a really nice person and I am sure she is a great fit for a lot of people but I wanted to share my experience. In short, don't see her if you have a very complicated case that is across the board confusing.
