The barista asked if I wanted it heated up and regrettably I declined. It would have been better to have that chocolate melted. Now the staff friendly and welcoming, which always makes any experience better. Again the atmosphere was stunning. One of the main reasons I'd come back. They have a section where they have all these big pillows. I loved that. Outside they had free 20-minute parking... the alternative was 10$ so I didn't stay very long. Overall I would recommend coming for the vibes not necessarily the specialty drinks. But to be fair I haven't tried them all. They also had pizza which looked very good and I overheard the barista say Sundays are their busiest day.

Every pasty was delicious the drip coffee was of quality and I finally caved and got a sandwich the last day. The wake and egg, I was eyeing it up all week. Absolutely fantastic. There's a variety of baked goods, food, and drinks to choose from. Their espresso tends to be on the mellower side - I think it's a medium body, mild & balanced, and pairs well with milk. If you're into pour overs, Detour has an incredible selection of their own coffee bean roasts. Not a coffee fan? No problem. I also recommend this spot to pick up the best artisan style sourdough I've had in this area (if you're not close to Dear Grain Commissary in downtown Hamilton). Crunchy crust and the softest sourdough inside. Perfect for a fancy sandwich or to add to a charcuterie board! You won't regret it.
