We transferred here with a 2nd grader and a kindergatedener in 2019. Everyone was incredibly welcoming - kids, parents, teachers, and staff - our oldest is about to finish 8th grade and the class is full of amazing, sweet, caring, lovely kids. They are welcoming and respectful. We are lucky to have landed in this class. My daughter has life long friends. Some since 2nd grade and some as new as 6th grade. I have a 6th grader who has learning g needs and the school works tirelessly to help him and meet him where he's at. We would recommend this school 100% to all families. I know both of my kids will leave prepared for high school. We found the previous principal fair, caring, and understanding but also realistic. We are thankful to have had her as long as we did. The current principal, while new, seems approachable, knowledgeable, and caring. The middle school staff is fantastic! The resource teacher is also amazing. Kids can struggle and as a parent that's hard but I know my kids are better for everything they have overcome and accomplished. As parents we have tried to be as welcoming as possible to all new families because we know being new can be hard and because we were welcomed. We started our kids at SJE as pre-schoolers. I immediately fell in love with the environment, the teachers and the wonderful principal. My kids are now going into Kindergarten and 2nd grade. They are so excited and can't wait to get back. As a parent, knowing my kids are loved and safe at school means everything to me. They are also both thriving academically and I am so proud to call SJE our school. My daughter even told me that SJE feels like home to her! I could not ask for anything more as a parent. Words can't describe how thankful and proud we are that we are an SJE family. We transferred our oldest when she was in 2nd grade, and my youngest was in TK. It was a hard decision to move my oldest, and I often questioned myself at first. We were welcomed at SJE with open arms. One parent even took it upon herself to reach out and let us know we can always talk to her if we need help navigating a new school. My oldest struggled with reading when she started, and with the resource program they have, she grew 2 grade levels in one year. It's now our 3rd year at SJE, and I recommend it to everyone I meet when they ask, "Where do your kids go to school?" The kids are, overall, thoughtful and caring of each other. So are the parents. Again, as a Credentialed School RN for years, I ask, Saint J, the school business manager, how do you have access to what happens in Special Ed. How do you know that my statement is a gross exaggeration? If you are privy to this information then that is, yet, another privacy violation. Did you ever consider reaching out to a struggling child. No, you judged the child, the family. You are a private school dependent on tuition. It would behoove you to try to meet the needs of the students/parents. You teach Christian values, yet turn your back on bullying. Please stop calling people liars. Please strive to better. Children are at stake here. read more

Just to be clear. This was our experience with this school. I am sure there are some very happy people and kids there. It was not the case for us coming in to an existing class of kids that were not entirely welcoming and our student needing additional support. Mrs. Horton did call us to lower the tuition and asked us to reconsider our decision to leave but it did not make sense considering all of the facts. She only addressed the financial part of our concerns and that is similar to a previous review by a parent. There were never discussions about our student's progress, her emotional well-being or even an inquiry about how she is doing and if she has made friends, But merely to talk about but he financial part of her enrollment. To state that our experiences are "untruths and greatly exaggerated" is insulting to us and further speaks to the way the administrators handle concerns. Yelp is to express to a community OUR experience to allow people to make informed decisions. Not an opportunity to enlist support of existing families for the financial repercussions that may occur. I will ask you Mrs. Horton to respect our review and not to insult us with claims we aren't honest but merely stating our experience and to reiterate that our decision to leave was due to the overall well-being of our student and the negative impact St. John's had on her. read more

My kids attended this school from 1st to 4th grade. It was disheartening to see so called people of faith give up on a child and attempt to turn their backs and wash their hands just because a child had a different learning style. Not all children learn the same and some need a different approach. Children at this age are learning social norms. Unfortunately, this school in particular the principal did not have the heart to want to help. Made it very clear that all they cared about was collecting the tuition instead of what was best for the child. I will make sure to share our story in hopes no other child gets treated like they do not matter just because they do not fit in SJV's cookie cutter methods. read more

We came to this school from another private school we loved but closed. I dug my feet in about not wanting to send our child to a catholic school (were not) and finally checked it put after so many of our classmates from our previous school enrolled. Im so glad we did! This school has been everything we wanted and more. The teachers have been amazing and have gone the extra mile making sure our daughter thrives. If I could give 0 stars I would. Mrs. Horton the principal is only in it for the money.The teachers were sub-standard, only worried about their performance and appearance not the development of my children. One of the teachers actually told my child to hold their pee. Who tells a child to do that? At our review the teacher was more concerned about my child not knowing a prayer then the regression of writing said child's name!! I found out later they were browbeating my child into writing in a specific way. This was stressful so my child shut down. My child would erase and say that's not right. I was told by an outside psychologist to pull my child IMMEDIATELY. If you want a proper education where your child is in a nurturing environment, this school is not for you. I have just found out they also take no action when told about inappropriate behavior. IE. Bullying and sexual harassment/ touching. They finally took action the 3rd time they were told of inappropriate touching! Why would it take 3 times? This school is a disgrace and only in it for the money. Buyer beware!! All of this starts at the top. The worst leadership of any school I have associated with anywhere. read more

We have been at St. John's since our first of four children began preschool in 2013. Our third child is currently enrolled, so we have been there for three years now. The staff is amazing, truly caring for our childrens' health and well-being. We cannot recommend this place enough. There is constant communication with parents, and they are very organized in regards to the skills that the children are learning each year. With a focus on play, creativity, numbers and letters, social skills, and respect of self and others, this preschool covers all the bases. Although religion is incorporated into some of the lessons, you do not have to be Catholic to appreciate the well-rounded and extremely well developed curriculum. Students are simply taught that they are loved and unique, that they are important and valued. When a child is struggling with something in particular, the teachers go out of their way to work with the parents and find a way to help the child. They understand that each child is unique and comes from a unique background, they do not discriminate. They have children from a variety of backgrounds. Children at St. John's are taught to respect and care for one another and to help those in need. I am so grateful that we found this place, and that we will be enrolled for years to come. read more

Your have heard of people turning away from religion because of bad experiences in Catholic schools - this is one of them! The staff and school are absolutely wonderful. Our daughter had separation anxiety and the staff was able to help our whole family in dealing with this situation quickly. We love St John's preschool. We had our son split between 2 preschools his first year. St John's and OLA (another Catholic school). We decided to go to St John's because the wonderful families and teachers at this school. We have since sent our daughter to the preschool as well and love the one on one attention she gets and how the teachers guide her and give her activities to do based on her capabilities. They did the same for my son who was already starting to read on his own at 2 1/2 years old. We love this school! read more

We enrolled our son as soon as St. John's preschool opened in 2012. Yes it is brand new, but the Director, Ms. Audrey, is a seasoned professional. She and Ms. Dorothy make up the Preschool staff. My son loves going to school here. He is never bored and is always engaged. They have a letter of the week to which they go through its sound and discuss words that begin with that sound. The kids learn their numbers, practice writing their names, and they do school work where they get to practice holding and using pencils, crayons, and child scissors properly. The kids learn about the days of the week, the weather, what every holiday is about, and they are given chores to do daily such as being a line leader, feeding the Preschool's pet turtle, helping with snack time, etc. I know I'm going very in-depth here. I volunteered and had the opportunity to witness how their days were spent. I hardly go out of my way to give a review on yelp, but I am just extremely happy with this school. My son takes so much pride with the school work/arts/crafts that he brings home and he talks about God so lovingly. His spongelike state is just being fed beautifully. We've gone on numerous field trips and have gotten to participate with Preschool facilitated celebrations (Thanksgiving party, Christmas party, Easter celebration, etc.) as a family. Each one is always a positive experience. Ms. Audrey and Ms. Dorothy have created such a fun, stimulating, and safe environment for the kids to discover, learn, and develop. Having moved around a lot, we have gone through 3 other preschools before we ended up at St. John's. My family and I intend to have our son stay at St. John's until 8th Grade.
