It's been open for almost three years. The storefront is rather small, but it's packed with color - there's furniture, lovely glass vases, handmade books, adorable toys, and reclaimed estate jewelry. The shop owner, Selena McAdams, is an interior designer, and all of the items inside Spruce have clearly been selected with great care and attention. I hesitate to call Spruce an interior design store, because it's much more than that. On my visit, I was totally taken with their selection of adorable and unconventional stuffed animals. I picked up a sea foam green latticework pendant necklace. It reminds me a bit of a lawn chair. So, a big thank you to the person who suggested that I check out Spruce. I'll definitely be stopping in again.

Personally, I found it to be three stars due to being a bit overpriced. A throw pillow filled with goose down, while beautiful and on my 'want' list, will remain on my 'want' list at over $200. Don't get me wrong, the place is worth a look -- and if money is no object, you'll find some pretties. They also carry pretty anthropologie-esque accessories, such as necklaces, bracelets, and a very sharp silver wristlet -- soft leather -- for $50. That wasn't so bad and I almost snatched it up. Other brands spotted were Terra Provence and Tatine candles, as well as Herve Gambs.

Tim closed his acct on Thumbtack so this review would not be seen. Why??…read more "I met with Tim Pierce of Signature Design at my home on or about Sept 22, 2015, for a consultation. There was little communication between us prior to this meeting outside of my email to Thumbtack about my house, and then directly with Tim by text and email as to a conducive date and time. I also had made appointment with two other designers that had contacted me through Thumbtacks referral. Tim was the last designer I met on the 22nd and at no time was there any discussion about paying a fee for his consultation, nor did the other two designers, who met with me longer, charged me. During Tim's visit, he seemed to be on the same page with my ideas but was somewhat aloof, did not take pictures or do much measuring of the rooms that were being discussed. In fact, he did not bring a tape measure in with him and used one I borrowed from a neighbor. Tim said his was in his vehicle (????). As this was my first time consulting with designers, I did not question this, though the other two designers were far more engaged and took notes, pictures and brought their own tape measures. Tim later told me as we were concluding his visit that he did not want to scare me but his fee was $3,000 from the inception of him taking on the project to completion, and that he did not charge by the hour like most designers. Tim stated that he would work with the contractor and the architect and design the plan. If I was to use his discounts, such as for appliances, tile, fabrics, furnishings, etc. he would charge me 10 % of what it would cost as compensation for the discount I would get going through him. This would be on top of the $3,000. Tim added that his visit today would be $150.00, which if I used him would go towards the $3,000 fee. I thought that him charging me for a consultation was odd, and I asked him if I did not use him then what. He sardonically responded that I would just lose my money. I should have sent him on his way then, but his ideas were close to what I was seeing for my design, and to also show a good faith gesture since I live in Ca., I wrote the check to him for $150.00 on the spot. Tim told me he would have plans drawn up in a week. A week passed by and I received nothing from Tim. When I did hear back from Tim after forwarding him an email from my architect, who was waiting on the plan, Tim sent me a text apologizing for his delay and explained that he was just getting back from a big birthday bash that weekend. He said he would get the plans to me before that following Thurs as he would be in Savannah from Thurs-Sunday. The next time I heard from Tim was after Sunday. Tim again apologized and said that one of his clients and dear friend had passed and that he had to speak at the service and coordinate everything. Tim attached only the kitchen planto this email. I say a plan, as it did not incorporate much of what we discussed and agreed up on and looked liked it had just been thrown together without much thought. Additionally, he did not include the entry way or dining room design that we had discussed. I excused the other two rooms not being included as there was no actual structural changes that the architect would need for his drawings to pull permits. However; Tim did not provide any explain action, though I had text him pictures of furnishings and ideas for those two areas. I was so irritated with the delay, excuses and the product, that it took me a day or so before I could speak to him about the plan. Though I asked questions about the plan, I did not address the design for the other two rooms other than did he receive my text. I was beginning to feel that Tim was not putting much effort in this project and that I should move on. I did not at that juncture as I had paid Tim the $150.00, and did not want to spend the time taking him to small claims court. I decided that if there wereany other problems, I would just eat the lost. I asked Tim during our telephone conversation on Monday, October 5, 2015, if he had sent the kitchen plan to the architect, and he said no. I asked him to send to the architect, which he said he would do the next day, which was Tuesday. I asked Tim to also copy me and the contractor on the email. On Tuesdsy. I contacted Tim by email to confirm if he had sent the plan to the architect as I had not received an email as requested. His response was no, he had been tied up with clients all day. I thought that was unprofessional as I was a client and what he had to do for me would have taken a few minutes that morning or on Monday, after we got off the phone. Tim said he would send the email with the plan to the architect and contractor on Wednesday morning. Wednesday morning came and went, as did Thursday and Friday. On Monay, October 12, 2015, I confirmed with the architect that he had not received anything from Tim. I immediately sent Tim an email summarizing my contacts with him and his lack of fo
