Came here early December 2025. I had gone to my OBGYN the day before going to Viks due to unnatural…read morebreast pain, swelling, & spreading redness. I left the OB completely freaked out (the on call doc when I went was absolutely awful) & not to mention, with no diagnosis or meds or anything at all. As someone who suffers from anxiety, I had a full blown anxiety attack for the next 24 hours. The following day I couldn't take it and came down the road to viks. Due to the intimate nature of my issue, I requested a female doctor but they told me they only had male; so I just took what I could get, not a huge deal. Front desk was fairly nice, filled out the papers, and they took me back fairly quickly. My doctor was Dr. Mcalasdair (apologies if i spelled that wrong). While I did originally want an ultra sound, he attempted talking me out of it. We went back and forth for a little bit but ultimately he said he was pretty confident he knew what was causing this, and while he didnt think an ultrasound was needed, he was willing to call their ultrasound person to come down and do it if I was adamant. I eventually caved and agreed to not do the ultrasound. Although he did make a little dig during our convo which I didn't appreciate (he said something along the lines of "I've been doing this for 30 years so I think I know what I'm doing). Please don't be condescending. Regardless of how long you've been in medicine, people are still allowed to advocate for themselves & their desires for their treatment. Anyway - aside from that, he was attentive and reassuring. However I've got to give it to the nurse - she really soothed me and my anxieties. She was such a sweetheart. She was maybe a middle aged lady with a British accent. She was so attentive, answered all my questions, checked on me, and when she could tell how nervous I was, she even brought me a little mini teddy bear with a viks shirt on to hold onto. No matter how old you are, little gestures like that really mean something, especially when you're scared. In the end, what I got was an IV in the arm with antibiotics. I believe it took like 45 min to fully drain. While I just sat there and waited, my nurse even brought me a heated blanket to make sure I was warm and comfortable. She was the best. They wrote me a prescription for an oral antibiotic but we were unsure if we were gonna make it on time before the pharmacy closed. On the off chance we didn't, they gave me my first pill ther so I wouldn't have to worry about missing a dose that night (in case we weren't able to get it until the next day). Thankfully we did make it to the pharmacy before they closed though. But that was really thoughtful. In the end, we ended up paying the ER price upon leaving. I haven't received any other bill in the mail so I can't speak on that experience yet... Also - the doctor called the next day to check up on me but I was unable to answer so he left a message. I called back the following day, but he wasn't busy with a patient so a message was taken. No call back. Called again the next day, he wasn't at the lakeway location, he was at another location. So I called the other viks location I was told he was at and they took a message since he was busy with a patient and told me he would call me back. He never did. I called again a day or two later back to the lakeway location and they gave me the same story and said they'd take a message but I told them I had already tried that multiple times and got no call back and told them I just wanted to speak to anyone on staff nurse or otherwise for them to answer my questions. So they put me on hold and I spoke to another doc I'm assuming, but not the one I saw, not dr macalasdair. This doc was pretty vague and dismissive with his answers. Basically it was like a couple word answers or "I can't answer that unless you come back in & we look at you again"...... mkay. He was unhelpful. Between the snarky response when I was advocating for myself in the room & the lack of call back and unhelpful response I got when I finally demanded to speak to anyone doctor on staff, that's why I took one star off. Otherwise, I had a solid experience. They fixed me and calmed my nerves at the same time. If anything goes awry with billing, I'll be sure to update my review. But for now, thanks for helping me!

I recently visited Vik's Complete Care after a severe fall while working in my closet and believed…read moreI needed immediate medical attention. Before going, I checked my Humana insurance, which listed this facility as a provider, so I arrived expecting to use my coverage. Once I arrived, I was told they do not accept insurance, which was very confusing and concerning given how they were listed under my plan. I was then informed that costs would start at around $800 or more, and according to the receptionist, they do not perform X-rays. Despite my insurance copay being $45, I was insisted upon to pay $800 upfront before any examination, without being seen by a doctor or receiving any medical evaluation. Due to the excessive cost, I declined treatment and left. The receptionist was extremely rude and dismissive throughout the interaction, which only made the situation worse. Being pressured for a large upfront payment before any care was provided raised serious concerns. Overall, between the lack of transparency regarding insurance, exorbitant pricing, and unprofessional behavior, I chose not to proceed with treatment and will not be returning. This experience left me very uncomfortable and concerned about how patients are treated here.

Well another visit . This time family member Thanksgiving Wednesday for possible urinary tract…read moreinfection. Expert and rapid care . I am looking into the concierge option with them for the following reasons- If you get sick enough to be seen urgently in general you need labs or X-ray. In my prior practice in Northern Virginia we had a full lab and X-ray ability. We could get blood count , chemistry's and X-ray of chest all in an hour. We could even give IV meds like Lasix to treat heart failure - all while sitting in our renovated 150 year old office . (Winchester VA) Our overall treatment options were much less than is available today BUT as practices got larger and larger -and the rules for labs and X-ray became complex in many ways it's become difficult to provide easy care for patients that are uncomfortable but not sick enough to admit . Most family clinics are overbooked and even if you can get in - getting a quick chest X-ray , blood counts or even urinalysis can require a trip to a lab company or radiology group. This facility still has the benefits of one stop easy in and out to resolve some significant problems that are somewhat time sensitive. Can get a liter of fluid , an IV antibiotic and appropriate testing. It's also full service ER to stabilize you before admission. They can even admit you there for certain illnesses. In this case the diagnosis was made , treatment prescribed and follow up calls to our home were made by the physician and nurse. Once again great care from a physician owned facility. We are very fortunate to live in Austin as the health care here is truly world class (I can attest to cardiac care) -but this type of facility -a small hospital /ER/ family medical clinic with full complement of diagnostic services - is amazing. I partnered our practice (The Heart Hospital) with St David's and I am biased but on the physician, nurse , tech side - it's hard to find bad care .. no matter which health system you use. At times I have thought it is too expensive to live in Travis County but when I drive by this local facility and see the old VW ambulance and realize that especially as we age it's a great place to live I continue to highly recommend and support this facility. They have several parking garages that offer short term parking for free (like 30 min or less), but otherwise unless you have validation, you do have to pay. The spots are kind of small and so are the signs in the parking garage, so pay close attention to make sure you're driving in the right place. Overall though, this is a pretty good med center in my opinion that offers most of the major medical subspecialties you may need for your care. The inpatient rehab is also one of the best in Austin, and they are one of the only facilities that offers a driving test if there's a medical concern for someone's safety re: driving (e.g. in a patient with cognitive impairment/early dementia).

I have personally used this facility at least 5 times, my son twice , my granddaughter once and today my wife. So living in Texas at some point you get whacked by allergies and despite everything you try you give up and you need steroids. I tried not to treat my family when I was working (they never listen anyway) and now I have a better excuse. We went to St David's because the earliest appointment was 5 days away for a pcp and my wife's coughing could not go on another 2 nights no less 5. As always we are greeting promptly and pleasantly. The front desk staff (Cindy) was exceptional as well as the nurses Dallas and Allison. The ER doc Dr Shah was outstanding. Simply put - I was a cardiologist for 37 years and the St David's ER is where I and my family went and go when we need urgent or ER care (and unfortunately cannot get into pcp at times ). As a doc patients would always ask me what I tell my family to do. I tell them to use this facility. Great 8/28 Round Two My wife initially improved but had persistent cough. Developed leg swelling and one knee became painful. Family doc had been treating but woke up today feeling tired, more short of breath and it was time to go back and rule out something more serious As before greeted warmly by Marcia the front desk staff this time. Allison the prior nurse remembered us and ushered us back in. My wife set her purse in the patient restroom sink as she needed to use the facilities. Heard water running as the purse set off the motion sensor and water flooded her purse. Tina the X-ray tech quickly entered the rest room to save the day. Not a good start. Lisa (another nurse) and Allison quickly had her assessed this time they ordered ECG, repeat chest X-ray and full labs. As a doctor I had a list of common to bad things that could be going on and knew that the only way to sort this out in a 64 year old was the repeat tests. Dr Andrew Skiles was fantastic. My wife thought he looked like a 25 year old movie star (he is 40 and father of 3 with a set of twins) Quick, professional, compassionate and competent describes everyone we met. Thankfully my wife appears to only have a particularly nasty virus with reactions to meds (that were needed ) and no underlying horrible illness. My wife probably feels the same- but I feel a lot better. As before St David's ER is where a doctor went when his family needed care.
