Back in August 2016, I had the wrap on my GT-R done by a company, Skycap Customs in Burlingame. I picked the car up at night and didn't notice the horrors I discovered the next day when it was light out. I could write in detail about what they've done, but I'll keep it brief. The wrap was lifting in the front and rear bumpers. The seams were coming apart, showing the underlying clear coat of the car. The top of the roof was wrapped in 3 pieces, wrapping over car parts instead of removing them. The door jambs contained crumpled and wrinkled wrap, which was secured by scotch tape. There were blade marks all over my entire car, where the wrap was cut (they failed to use knifeless tape). The most degrading part of the whole job were the countless scraps of extra wrap used to "patch" holes in the wrap cause by the parts being dropped on the floor. The owner of the company wouldn't even look me in the eye as he requested payment that night.
The next day I took my car to SS Customs to get their opinion on my new wrap. As I pulled up, I was greeted by the most of the crew. They began to congratulate me on my new wrap, but as they got closer to the car, their jaws began to drop. They were really upset about the condition my car was in, and how poorly the wrap job was done. The owner of the company, Sharif, arrived shortly after and told me he would like to help me out in any way he could. I ended up getting a refund from Skycap Customs and took my car to SS Customs a month later. I told him I wanted the same reflective blue wrap on my car. This wrap is unique, in that it was reflective when shined on by LED lights, and had to be positioned in a linear fashion in order to be lined up just right. I was extremely discouraged and nervous about proceeding due to my previous experience, but he gave me his word that this job won't be anywhere near the wrap job performed by Skycap Customs. Fonzo and Sharif took a few pieces of the wrap, and performed a few demonstrations for me. They explained the science behind overstretching, heating, and what they would do differently to overcome the difficulties of this unique wrap. Their experience of working with mastering different types of difficult material ended up with me putting eventually putting my confidence in them. Shareef was also very helpful in assisting me with obtaining a rental in the mean time.
I decided to proceed with getting my car re-done. I went to SS Customs every few days to get an update on the car. I was always greeted by Antonio at the front desk, one of the highly professional staff members there who seemed to keep everything in line and organized. Rob was the one to go over everything in detail about what was done during the day, and discoveries/issues with the car, pointing out minor challenges they faced, but overcame. A few weeks later, I arrived to the shop to pick up my car. I was absolutely stunned with the end result. The car looked completely brand new. Nothing was peeling or lifting (something I was dreading), the door jambs were smooth without a single wrinkle, every small detail of the car was paid attention to, and they took the time to flawlessly cover all of the seams in beautiful black satin wrap. As hard as I tried, I couldn't find a notable flaw in the new wrap.
A few weeks later, it was time for my 2 week checkup with Dr. Shareef, in order to see how everything was coming along, and how the wrap was holding up. As I pulled into the shop, he put down the sandwich he was eating, and greeted me. The team took 30 minutes to examine the car, opening doors and using flashlights to assess every square inch of the car for defects. A minor flaw on the mirror cap was discovered and immediately repaired.
Today, January 4th, 2017, the car looks exactly the same as the day it was wrapped by SS Customs. I am very glad I ended up choosing them to wrap my Nissan GT-R, as I can't think of anyone else who would have taken their time on this project. It speaks volumes when a company spares its lunch time to assist a customer out. The credibility of their work is proven by the array of supercars scattered throughout their shop. The professionalism and compassion for the work Shareef and his team does is the true essence of quality customer service. I didn't walk out of there just a satisfied customer, I walked out of there having met a bunch of great people who are now extremely good friends who love what they do.
Can't thank you guys enough.
