I've had some bad experiences in the past with PPF. I once had a shop knife the entire front end of a brand new C2. Another installed incorrectly sized PPF, which later resulted in significant paint damage that would have otherwise been protected on a GT3. I swore off PPF on my last three cars... until now. I had to learn the hard way that the installer matters more than the product. I've lived it. Each car I've bought from new has been paint corrected & ceramic coated but I avoided PPF altogether due to PTSD. I'd pick up a few stone chips & live with it... I figured that's a much better alternative than risking another knife job. Looking back, it was more of a compromise than a solution. Fast forward & a few weeks back, I took delivery of my PTS 992.2 Carrera T & started to seriously consider giving PPF another chance. Especially since I also have a 991.2 GT3 Touring that has been fully wrapped from new, & the quality of that work has been flawless. 7+ years later. So, I really wanted the same protection & quality on my PTS T. Try to lock in as much of the factory fresh paint as possible for long term ownership. I researched & visited dozens of shops around the Bay Area. Along the way, I discovered that the shop I ultimately chose was the same company that wrapped my GT3 at their Orange County location... Protective Film Solutions NorCal Lorenzo (manager) & his team; Rafael, who handled the paint correction, & Jeff, who installed the Xpel ultimate plus PPF & applied the Xpel fusion plus premium ceramic coating, delivered exactly what I was hoping for. They guaranteed their installs would never cut into the paint & the results would be perfect! I was able to visit the facility a few times to see their finished work & was invited back during the PPF process. The install was completely seamless, & Jeff walked me through his install process. The attention to detail & level of craftsmanship is genuinely impressive. It's an artform! That transparency went a long way in rebuilding my confidence. Lorenzo has stayed in touch throughout the entire process, coordinated timing while the car was in transit, & even held an opening over the holidays so I could drop the car off the same day I took delivery. First class service from start to finish. They've documented the entire process, from factory paint issues at drop-off (etching, scratches, etc.), to the PPF install & ceramic coating application. For a PTS car I plan to hold onto like my GT3, having the documentation & knowing the paint was properly corrected & protected from day one means a lot. Huge thanks to Lorenzo & the team at PFS NorCal. I'm back to believing in PPF again & there's no other shop I trust more with my Porsches at this point. This is the place for PPF and ceramic coating in the Bay Area. It was not an easy decision to pick them as the space is very competitive and I called some other top-rated shops. One thing that differentiated them is that they would do a custom cut for my car and they had experience with such cars in the past. They were very knowledgable and they knew they had to be extra careful with the paint (it's a 2003 car). They did a light paint correction to preserve as much paint as possible and they kept me up to date on the progress with photos. Communication was outstanding - Lorenzo replied promptly, even at odd hours. Another benefit is that they are part of ISSIMI, so they can do any mechanical work (in my case they swapped wheels on the car - thanks Jonathan). ISSIMI also has a car storage facility, so they can store the car for a bit if you want to bring it in a week early or pick it up late. Ultimately, the PPF work came out great - it's imperceptible, no edges or seams. I did full front PPF (full hood/fenders + front bumper + headlights + backs of mirrors) with XPEL ULTIMATE PLUS. I'm super glad that we chose them to apply our full body PPF. Lorenzo, who helped us set everything up, is very great at communicating and assured us it would be the best PPF in Northern California. My new Civic Type R wears a lot of hats -- commuting, toddler school run, and track days. It's also black, which is hard to keep clean. I wanted to protect it and keep the paint low maintenance. I had PFS do a front PPF, color correction, and ceramic coating. I chose them because the company has a great reputation in SoCal where they are the go-to for all manner of exotics, Porsche and Ferrari. Scheduling was easy, and it took about a week to do the work. The car looks perfect. Way better than when it was delivered new to the dealer. You can't even tell the film is there on the front. Even after driving around in the rain, the car still looks new. They're not the cheapest, but they are probably the best in the Bay. I've seen poor PPF work and its not something I would want to deal with. read more

I contacted one of the owners Albert of Protective Film Solutions in Fremont. I found that their company in Orange County had been doing Film, Ceramic Coating and Window Tinting for high end cars for decades. Albert had come up from Southern California to start a Nor Cal Branch of that business so he had a lot of product knowledge. I was interested in a ceramic coat for my new 2019 Tesla LR Model S which I was about to pick up from the factory delivery center. Albert took a lot of time explaining to me the difference between the ceramic coats that were out there now. He said none of them last indefinitely and should be refreshed annually but no one else tells you that because they want you to think their coat lasts for years. PFS would also perform a paint correction on the car before the coatings were applied. I made an appointment to have the two stage Glanz Ceramic coat applied and the windows tinted with Xpel SR Plus 35% IR Tint. One thing definitely worth mentioning is that right after I picked up my car, I noticed a sandpaper quality on the paint on the right rear quarter panel and rear deck lid. I took it back to Tesla and they offered to re-paint the affected areas. I contacted Albert about it and we decided to let him work on it with the paint correction first to see if he could smooth it out before applying the coat. If he couldn't, he'd let me know, then I'd have the paint work done prior to the ceramic coat being applied. Not only did they get the affected areas completely worked to a smooth finish, but the entire car finish is as smooth as glass!! It looks phenomenal!! They happened to have one of their specialists Jim out from Atlanta this week who worked on the car and I spoke to him and he was extremely passionate about his craft. I would highly recommend Protective Film Solutions to anyone needing film, tint or ceramic coating for their rides. Oh - and the other cars in their work area were McLarens and Porches. read more

There is always someone there to answer questions and explain options. We have cars with soft paint and the guys at PFS we're very knowledgeable about how to care for them. Attention to detail beyond compare and always going above and beyond to ensure everything is perfect - I am fortunate to have more than a few high end cars and I've been hesitant (notorious) for not wrapping my cars. Ryan, the owner, took my 2004 Carrera GT and made it look better than new. Paint prep was exceptional and the clear by Albert was flawless. I usually don't write reviews, but in this case I must recognize a great service, workmanship and personal attention to detail that this company provided me. I recently bought a new car and I hate dings in front of the car so I found out about PFS predictive film solution. I took my car in and had the whole front end done. The job was done perfectly and the car looked amazing. After a few weeks I took the car in for a car wash and somebody at the car wash dropped something very strong on the side of the car and damaged the protective film--thankfully it protected the car and served its purpose perfectly. I called Albert at the company and he was so kind and asked me to bring the car in and they replaced the entire panel at no charge! I took my brand new car (a brand new Ferrari, less than 400 miles) in for installing front windshield protection, a very simple task, came out with chipped glass, passenger side door. Before taking the job, selling their facilities, they told me they have security cameras, ensured for $2M, and how amazing they are in taking care of customer cars. But when the job was done and I showed them the chipped glass; all of a sudden the security video system had issues and there were no recording of the operation while my car was in the shop. In the meantime, they flatly denied they caused the damage; therefore that $2M insurance rendered meaningless. On top of it, after much back and forth, the owner, Ryan, sent me a lengthy email as to how they did not damage the car and blamed and bad mouthed everyone but his own shop that I am certain caused the damage. And of course, that security camera not working only when my car was in the shop sounded quite suspicious. I would not touch these people with a 100 ft pole...stay away. Very dishonest and untrustworthy. Don't be fooled by marketing and that $2M insurance. Terrible business. read more
