She gave us a tour, then taught my daughters how to groom and clean their hooves. The horses appeared to be rescued and rehabilitated, which is always my preference. She took Dancer out to the ring and had both girls ride bareback. My oldest is painfully shy and crumples with direction or correction. This is something we are working on, especially because she so desperately wants to be around horses. Robin was patient and communicative. She gave each toddler a turn on the horse, while the other could play with spoons in the dirt. This worked very well for us. My children's attention span stopped short around their lunch time, when they got whiny and stubborn. Robin did not take it personally and made sure to offer them the opportunity for another ride. Both girls refused and collected lemons from her grove instead. We went back to the tent and made lemonade. Consequently, both girls took a two hour nap after the lesson. THUMBS UP! We hope to return.

I'm not sure it's exactly like riding a bike--but Karen made me feel completely at ease from the start. Kiwi, my horse, was incredibly patient and gentle with me. I swear she knew I needed a little extra TLC! It made the whole experience so enjoyable and stress-free. I even got to do a tiny bit of trotting, which was such a fun bonus. Overall, it was such a great experience, and I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking to try horseback riding or get back into it!

And a cowboy hat (you can buy them there at drop-off). And bring a fitted twin bed sheet! The wagon mattresses were dusty. Plus a blanket or sleeping bag. Prior to camp, we arranged a simple system where he could signal me through a snack purchase if he needed help. Early on the third day, he used that signal. I called the camp and did not receive a response. After approximately eight hours, I called again and requested to speak with the camp director, I was eventually connected with the camp director, who indicated there had been an issue earlier that day involving my son and wrong medication being given. After insisting, I was allowed to speak with my son. He was clearly distressed and informed me that he had been given the wrong medication that morning. Instead of his usual over-the-counter allergy medication, he was given a high-dose antidepressant not prescribed to him and not intended for a child his age. According to the information provided to me, staff at the health office realized the error and attempted to have him self induce vomiting with a spoon, (he was instructed to stick the spoon down his throat), which was unsuccessful. They then contacted poison control for guidance. At no point during this process was I notified. After speaking with my son, I decided to pick him up immediately. When I arrived, I found communication from staff to be limited, and I was unable to get clear or detailed information about the incident despite asking direct questions. I requested to speak with the camp director, who eventually met with me. During that interaction, I found his demeanor to be notably nonchalant given the circumstances. The situation--a child being given the wrong medication and the parent not being notified--was presented in a way that did not reflect the level of concern I would have expected. When I attempted to ask for clarification and express concern about what had happened, the conversation became extremely tense. There was a clear difference in how seriously the situation was being viewed, and the discussion escalated into a heated verbal exchange. Given the lack of clear communication and the response to what I consider a serious safety issue, I made the decision to withdraw my son from the camp that same night. Following the incident, I contacted the camp multiple times. I was initially told that a refund would not be provided, though I was offered a credit for a future summer. After further communication, I did receive a refund. I also attempted to reach out to members of the organization's leadership to share concerns about the incident. This experience was extremely concerning, particularly given the seriousness of a medication error involving a child and the lack of timely parent notification.

If you love wine, highly recommend to purchase the package with the wine tasting (to be enjoyed after your ride) because the wine from DANZA SOL WINERY was THE BEST WINE I had all weekend. The horseback tour is amazing. You arrive get your paperwork situated and they match you with your horse based off height. All the horses are just so kind. Our tour guy Mark was amazing, talked to us about the venue, the grapevine, took pictures throughout the tour and sent us all the pictures he took as well. Felt safe while riding with our tour guide. The horses do like to sneak in a few pecks off the vines and some more than others...lol but it's manageable. It doesnt look like your high up, but once you saddle up you realize the height, but the more you ride the more comfortable you get on your horse. I loved it. The weather was amazing. All the staff were friendly and professional. Had an over all great ride. We were celebrating my sister birthday and we couldn't have had a better experience and time with our horses and Mark our tour guy. The ride is pretty lengthy but its nice and you get what you pay for. Make sure to bring pants, closed toe shoes and sunglasses. After your ride you can give the horses some cookies, which they love and look forward to it. I enjoyed that part as well. There's only a port-a-potty on sight that I saw. So technically there is a restroom on sight, but we all know how stinky those are. So go before you arrive or the winery next door has restrooms that are much more ample. Definitely worth every penny. Would highly recommend this place to everyone who wants to enjoy and good time riding as well as some good wine afterwards.

We had around 50 guests which is way below capacity but the way Lindy and her team arranged the tables made it feel just right. Where I board my horse is very important to me. When I started my search, 2 veterinarians told me…read morethey board at Del Rio. After reading a magazine article (.http://www.ridingmagazine.com/riding_onlinemag/articles/2011_05/delrio.htm) I visited Del Rio. and have been here since July. Pluses Owner lives on site. They feed 3 x a day and use good quality hay. My horse is a MO Foxtrotter that needs a gaited trainer. All licensed trainers are allowed on site. My trainer, who knows more than I do, thinks this place is great. Closeness to home from Oceanside is 15 minutes. I dont want to have to travel far or I would consider Del Mar. Property is gated. also very important to me. ( the facility next door had 3 horses escape and killed on the road) Very nice turnout with grass. Some stables had no pasture and this was key for me. I want my horse to be able to eat grass(. the most pleasurable thing a horse wants to do is eat grass) and this keeps my horse happy and calm. In the past month, 3 boarders with multiple horses moved into homes with stables, so there is space at Del Rio. the boarding rates are very fair. Minuses. no trails. You have to trailer 10 minutes to Guajolme or Margarita River. Del Rio does have a stream on property for water training and they also have a mountain that is steep and for me, a bit scary but great for that type of training. Currently. about 2/3 or boarders are Western and 1/3 english. As I see in most facilities, everyone is very nice. I've visited most of the barns in this area including Vista. Compared to the other places, you should put Del Rio on your list to see.
