We have been through socialization training with her and she is doing better. We were going on a road trip and we needed a place to care for her. We were very unsure of how she would do. We toured Ruff Life Resort first and were VERY impressed. The staff were very welcoming and showed us around. One thing I noticed right away was how good it smelled. They keep everything super clean. They offer a variety of suite sizes too. Since this was her first experience, they evaluated her first and with their expertise placed her with a group of dogs that she was actually able to make friends with. She had never been able to do that before. They have five large yards, indoor and out. Their is always someone with the dogs in the yards too. We got pictures and reports everyday on how she was doing and it made my heart happy to see how happy she was and we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing she was being very well cared for. They even bathed her and washed her stuffy toy we had for her. We will most definitely book this resort the next time we need to board her. Definitely a 10 out of 10.

I was honestly shocked to learn that the $30/month wash and blow-dry service only includes a bath and nail trim, followed by putting your dog in a cage with fans blowing on them until they're dry or picked up. I understand the reasoning behind not wanting to send a dog home soaking wet, but I have to ask: **how is this meaningfully better for the dog than bathing them at home and allowing them to dry comfortably in their own environment?** The entire concept of leaving a dog confined in a cage with fans blowing on them just to dry them seems incredibly impersonal and, frankly, sad. These are people's family members--not laundry that needs to be dried as quickly as possible. What also really bothered me is that the website emphasizes that they don't want dogs going home wet because they could potentially get sick. Yet the alternative being offered is essentially prolonged confinement in a cage with fans until the dog dries. That doesn't feel like a particularly thoughtful approach to the comfort or wellbeing of the animal. I ended the call and immediately signed up for the $135/month Sparkle grooming service instead. Yes, it costs significantly more, but after hearing what this service actually consists of, I would much rather spend the extra money on my dog and know they're receiving actual grooming, attention, and care. **If you're considering this service, I would strongly encourage you to ask exactly what happens to your dog after the bath. Personally, I couldn't justify paying for a service that I feel I could provide more comfortably and compassionately at home.** Our dogs deserve better than the bare minimum. They're worth every penny.

When I brought my dog in for his appointment earlier today, his fur was almost straw-like, dry, and he was shedding all over. However, when I picked him up from Mountain Dog Lounge a few minutes ago, I couldn't believe I had the same dog! His fur was beautiful!!! It was extremely soft and fluffy, it actually looked so healthy. And my dog looked so happy. Yay!!!! I have to add, the staff could not have been more professional and kind, Rose and Lauren greeted me this morning when I came in. But it was more than just saying hello from behind a desk. As Lauren was checking in the other customers, Rose came out from behind her desk and wanted to know a little bit about Cooper prior to the appointment, like is there anything he doesn't like or does he have any allergies, etc. and all the while giving him a treat and petting him to make him feel comfortable since it was a new place for him. Taking the time out to do all this, in my opinion, is exceptional customer service! You could tell the whole staff loved what they were doing, they were definitely all pet lovers. When I came by later to pick up my dog, I noticed the other groomers through the window, and they were doing such a nice job with the other dogs. I was very impressed with how gentle they were with the dogs, and really took an interest in what they were doing. What really amazed me was how calm these three dogs were while they were getting groomed, which I attribute to the way the groomers were treating them. They groomers seemed very professional, they knew what they were doing, and the dogs were totally at ease. They also have a nice store inside where you can buy healthy dog & cat food and treats. Since I have two cats, I asked if they do cat grooming/bathing. And they do! They also offer nutritional counseling. I know it must be popular since there is a wait list for this service. I highly recommend this business for the all reasons mentioned above--their customer service, their professionalism, and their love of pets!
