They explained exactly what had happened, and they fixed it. Yea! It turns out my email was being blocked because I had previously un-susubscribed. I feel compelled to come forward and warn anyone who is thinking of using Squarespace as their platform on which to build a website for their small business to steer clear. Stay far, far away - as far away as you can get. They offer no service - none - zero - when you need assistance, unless you enjoy spending hours, and, in my most recent case, days, of your time sitting waiting for someone to pickup on Live Chat, and/or answer the many emails sent, and then literally reading the numerous articles they send links to after you are finally able to communicate your issue. I'm so sorry I allowed my designer to talk me into using Squarespace for it's been a disaster in so many ways, and it all started just 3-months after I went live. And, one more thing, I read where the company has been purchased recently by someone in the UK, which does not bode well for anything improving - especially when it comes to service. That's usually the first thing that suffers in an acquisition. I can't imagine how Squarespace service could get worse, but an acquisition when it comes to this company - Squarespace - spells disaster. Amazing evening spent at HillGarten.The atmosphere was friendly and cozy, a great place to be outside with fiends around the fire pits. Pet and family friendly. The food is casual but very tasty and they had a great Bourbon selection. The owners were there and visited with the guest throughout the evening making sure everyone was satisfied. DONT USE Square Space I started using them 3 years ago under a recommendation and it seemed ok. However , now we need to add websites and it has a host of issues the company cannot solve - it has also become greedy by trying to corner you to force domain transfers. The support is non existent as others mention. The help support chat has fairly incompetent people who probably look at a support text which is different from the screen you see. Their maintenance is frequent and often the support again is unaware fo what is happening. There is no actual or real customer service - just a self learning by error platform which was simple and really good - now going down with poor platform and customer service. read more

The wait staff was ok snd the atmosphere was good except for our seating was terrible. Unfortunately, our food was mediocre. Read their BBB complaints before doing business. A couple of common threads: 1) They don't have responsive customer service. 2) There are a number of ways they try to bill you more. Delaying answering your request to cancel is one of them. I've been trying to remove my card from a business account I'm no longer a part of. I got passed from rep to rep. They won't handle this on the phone, just by email. They either ignore me for days until I remind them to respond or give me another totally unnecessary hurdle. From what I gather from other complainants, I think they like to delay until they can push another charge. I'm pretty shocked at how many of these complaints are coming in during a pandemic. It's a horrible practice during normal times, but to do this during a global crisis is pretty disgusting. I LOVE this webdesign company, their site and products are fantastic and I cannot seem to find better. I LOVE the ease of navigation and the settings page is easy to use for people like myself who are a little computer illiterate LM(FF)aO Anyhow so why the 2 stars?? Well I hired a web designer who could not get them to release my domain names to them. Then all of a sudden my domain names were changed to those of a similar name, but with an extra letter... when I called I was given the run around until I finally threatened an attorney ! OMG ...how terrible... I didn't want to as I LOVE their design and have my domain names with them! Anyhow, they finally released them at the last minute and away we went. Then I noted that someone had 'hacked' my account changing all my designs and when I logged in to change it back I was disabled from doing so. The site is still looking a bit weird but at least its working. I then changed my business name so I bought all the relevant names associated with it and now when I log in, I can access my account details, but it comes up that there are NO DOMAINS and NO SITE AVAILABLE!! OMG!! I'm horrified, this is my business! When I type my address in the search bar, my (dodgy) website comes up but is redirecting to the old domain. My new domains are now due to be renewed and I cannot access my account at all!! UGH! How loyal should I be? Its like a bad relationship, almost like being married to a beautiful looking person that just sits there and does nothing all day and wont respond!! I'm reaching out today and probably (from previous experience) for the rest of the damn week until I get my attorney involved again... Hopefully I can regain access, update my site and domain name to the new business and have them at least say sorry once for all the stress and heartache they have caused me! I don't think they realize how badly they are affecting me.. I'm in tears almost every day seeing my dream business (which is internet run) be destroyed at the hands of a cyber bully with his knickers in a knot! I say, you can have a million success stories but if you bully one person, you are still a bully! This is the WORST customer service I've ever dealt with. I got an email that my domain (that I don't use) was set to auto renewal a day before it was about to be renewed. I went to the site to change it, and was charged the next day. Emailed when I realized there was no phone number. Got a ridiculous response. Posted an angry tweet when they never responded back (after a week), then received this: "I appreciate that you believed that this auto-renew was disabled, however, we have no record on our side of this being disabled, and the domain renewed automatically February 19th, 2018. To prevent further charges, we recommend disabling this auto-renew as follows:" Condescending crooks. Don't use them. They'll steal your money, time and energy. I've worked in customer service for years and guest recovery is everything in running a thriving business. Without your customers, you don't have a business to speak of. Don't give this company yours. They don't deserve it. Update Response: "Unfortunately, we don't have any control over ICANNs policy regarding the five day grace period for a domain cancellation. Auto-renew is automatically checked to ensure customer's sites don't experience a disruption in service." Their site claims "award winning support" but, in truth, it's the absolute worst I have ever experienced. There is NO phone support. Their online Bot says it is directing me to a live chat and to hold on but then it just hangs there ("Thanks! Please wait while I transfer you."). If I select the email contact option, I get nothing. I have been trying to contact them for days and have gotten no where, all the while my site has been down. Looks to be a billing issue associated with Google Workspace (Squarespace is a reseller and Google Support just directs me back to Squarespace Support for resolution..... wonderful). But the domain this is apparently connected to is not on my Squarespace dashboard. The entire thing is confusing and frustrating. Warning... Squarespace doesn't have a function to tell you if stripe (their credit card function) isn't connected. The "test mode" on Squarespace says its functional even though I had a customer finally speak up and tell me it wasn't taking their credit information. My website credit card function was offline for months even though it shows it in working function on the Squarespace side of the website. I contacted Squarespace and they admitted that it was a function that they haven't figured out yet. They were really rude and not willing to compensate me for the months I had been losing online sales. I told them I would continue service I would just like the months my credit function was unknowingly disabled to be given to me as a credit. They cut off communication and told me this is the frustrating part of running an online business and this is the risk we as Squarespace users take. How awful! read more

A cheaper better alternative with actual customer service you can call is Yahoo small Business websites. The designs are very very similar and it is definitely just as easy to use but cheaper and easier because they have actual phone customer service who care about you. When I saw I was charged I immediately contacted them saying there was no mention of charges and they won't refund saying "once it's been charged we cannot refund". I also have another charge from them that I have no idea what it's for charged the same day. I've had other problems that were not resolved and gave up out of sheer frustration with dealing with them but now it's not an option. I'm so sorry to say it but I really don't recommend this service. They do not care about you as a customer at all! And I mean to a degree that is unethical and illegal!
