Before leaving for…read morevacation, she responsibly took him to the vet for a check-up and informed them that a dog sitter would be caring for him in her absence. One night, the dog became visibly distressed--shaking and moaning. The sitter did her best to keep him calm, and we called the New Canaan veterinary office first thing the next morning to request an urgent appointment. We explained the situation clearly: the dog was in distress and needed immediate attention. After being placed on hold for five minutes, the response we received was deeply disappointing. We were told, "We're too busy today. The doctor is only working a half day and we have no availability." As a dog owner myself--with three dogs--I'm incredibly grateful that this is not my veterinary provider.

They were wonderfully kind when my senior cat became ill with cancer and had to be put to sleep. They even provided me with time to say goodbye in private. When I brought my new puppy to be checked and to get shots, they took time to explain everything I should do and expect. They even called the next day to make sure all was going well. Dr. Schaefler and Dr. Potenza are both wonderful and caring. The front desk staff and assistants are always terrific.

Leah is easily the best dog walker we've ever had. I struggled a little to type dog walker as she…read morehas become so much more than that to us over these last few months. Our dogs absolutely love Leah, and we enjoy chatting with her every chance we can! We have so much trust in Leah to take care of our pups. It was a challenge when our last walker dropped us, but Leah quickly stepped in and put our minds at ease, speaking to her experiences and quickly getting along with our dogs. We have 2 very high energy pups that need to be watched closely, otherwise they will inevitably get into trouble. We've had cases of our pups getting away, and multiple scheduling issues with our last walker (NOT Leah :) ), but we have not once had an issue since Leah has taken over. With many dog walkers out there, and knowing how much people value their pets, we can not recommend Leah enough. She is super easy to work with, and most importantly, just someone you can trust!

PawsBarkPlay was recommended to me by someone who had a particularly difficult rescue dog. Leah took time to try and get to know the dog before she agreed to walk him and she refused to charge the owner (who paid her anyway) for the first few visits because even though she spent more time than normal at the house she wasn't able to get the dog to warm up to her enough to walk him the first couple times. When I heard this story I thought two things: 1. There's no way this person was actually that nice. 2. I have to get her to walk/ sit my dog (Birdy) To be honest, everything seemed strangely too good to be true. Down to the business cards which were nicer that any I've seen (including my own) and the fact that she was licensed and insured?? Like I said, I didn't think the dog walking business was that serious but she's got it all. The card even says that she's pet first aid & cpr certified (I forgot to ask for proof but I believe her). Anyway, when she showed up I found out that she had recently moved here from the south which explained everything, she has not yet been corrupted by our New England brash way of thinking. She was the sweetest person and took to Birdy immediately. I should say that Birdy is very well behaved and not at all aggressive but she's cautious about new people. Birdy ran to her like she was a long lost relative, I was shocked and a little jealous. Leah told me that she just recently started this business but you would never know. Her prices seem middle of the road for what I've seen out there ($25/30 min walk) but her service and level of care is beyond what I expected and make her prices seem cheap. I was surprised to see that she didn't have any reviews but I have a feeling that her clients are trying to keep her a secret like I thought about doing. As a Yelper, though, I felt obligated to leave this review but she absolutely deserves it. Hopefully she'll keep it in mind when she gets busy!

Anyone with a dog knows how hard it can be to trust someone else with your fur-kid - whether for…read morethe day, or for boarding. We had previously only ever boarded with our vet, but more often had our dogs stay with friends/family when the need arose. Working from/being home so much during COVID led us all to become a little...stir crazy, and we noticed this change of routine especially affected our one-year old GSD mix. We were especially worried that she would end up with separation anxiety once workweek schedules went back to normal, so I decided to look into daycare for her. I researched and read all the reviews I could find, spoke with friends, friends of friends, etc. but the decision to fill out the Dog Meadow info request form was solidified when I mentioned to a highly respected groomer that I was looking into DM and she responded that it was was the absolute best daycare, and to get Charlie in with them if we could. Charlie has been at daycare regularly for about 4-5 months now, and has boarded overnight as well. We are SO impressed with DM - the care, attention, hard work, and professionalism of Kleber, Laura, and DM overall is just beyond incredible. They take the time to get to know each dog's personality, temperament, and nuances. Being so young, Charlie hadn't had an opportunity to get much socialization prior to COVID and to help with this, Kleber recommended her daycare schedule based on other dogs he believed she would best get along with. He's been flexible and accommodating with us in the event we need to make schedule changes, and always gives us helpful feedback on Charlie. Dog Meadow is like a dog's dream retreat. The facility/grounds are incredible - we didn't want anywhere that our dog would be stuck in a crate and only taken out at specified times (like when boarding at the vet). If I were a dog, Dog Meadow would be where I wanted to play. There's lots of safe, fenced-in land, as well as indoor space that includes cozy couches and places to relax for the dogs during nap/rest/indoor time. The dogs are supervised at all times and stimulated with opportunities for agility and general free-play. They will play with and literally treat your dog with love and attention like their own! Sometimes we think Charlie might even love them more than us . I think I was as "mom-ish" dropping Charlie off the first day, as I was when I sent my human kid to school for the first time. But, Kleber & Laura are super knowledgeable and are truly experts at "leading the pack." They are also just genuinely good people and we know Charlie is in the best care. She now gets excited to go on daycare days, and is a happily exhausted pup when we pick her up. She's developing better social skills, leash skills, and listening skills (which we credit to Dog Meadow). There're just about a million more "little things" with DM that make you know you & your dog are valued to them, too. We really can't say enough good things about Dog Meadow and of being able to send Charlie there.
