Hunterdon Land Trust Farmer's Market is a small farmer's market located on Dvoor Farm in Raritan…read moreTownship. The market provides shoppers with the opportunity to browse locally grown produce, plants, honey, breads, soap, cheese, baked goods, and crafts (hand-knitted items from alpaca wool and beautifully hand made wood desks, bird houses, etc.) They feature live music and a variety of seminars each week, so check the rotating schedule on the market's website: http://hunterdonlandtrust.org/farmers-market/ I visited this farmer's market primarily to buy plants from the Toadshade Farm kiosk, which did not disappoint. There is an emphasis on locally grown plants and the man who sold them to me took time and care to explain each plant to me - where it should go in the garden, the care required, how it was cultivated, etc. Many of the food vendors also had samples to try. The cheese vendors were wonderful. The breads were also VERY creative (duck fat focaccia... sign me up!) Although some vendors took credit cards, others were cash/check only so I would recommend that you bring some cash with you and smaller bills. For those of us who are in northern NJ, it is an easier ride now that the summer is over. It is also a pretty ride and worth supporting our local growers.

Everything from classic dill pickles to pickled mushrooms and onions. You name it, they've pickled it. We chatted with the kind woman behind the counter that let us know her son is the pickling genius behind the operation, while she mans the store. This endeavour might be new to the family, but her son, like her father have always been big gardeners. And what do you do with an excess of cucumbers? You get creative! I swung by on my lunch break and was greeted by a huge store. There was a small selection of produce available in one section, then the rest of the store had homemade and packaged goodies. I scored some gluten-free limoncello chocolates and purchased two of their yummy-looking pies to give to others. They offer hot soup to purchase, which is great if you need something quick. They have a fridge full of cheese, so I purchased a dill gouda they had on sale and they also have a freezer filled with quart-sized ice creams with flavors like cherry vanilla. There was also an awesome display of pickled items, so there really is something for any need you might have. Definitely pay this spot a visit, I will be returning once I figure out how to transport their delicious looking ice cream.

I copied/pasted this review from the one I posted on Google Review…read more Before you purchase from Arvin Produce and Garden Center (Arvin), please read about my May 2019 experience at this place. Wanting to use a local business, I bought 5 cu. yards of dyed-brown wood mulch (receipt attached - Picture 1) for home delivery. Arvin's dropped the mulch off with no problems; delivery guy came early in the morning and was courteous. The mulch looked like what I ordered, so the driver dumped the mulch and left. Later that day I began loading the mulch into my wheelbarrow to bring around the yard, and started seeing pieces of blue-painted wood, dark wires and plastic, aluminum fragments, bits of glass. Not a total surprise, but I picked out what I could. However, as I put more into the wheelbarrow, the more of those items became visible. Getting concerned, I put the items into a plastic bag and went to Arvin's to show them what was in their mulch. I told the manager I wasn't looking to get my money back; I just wanted to make him aware what was in the mulch Arvin's was selling. The manager indicated that his supplier included pallets in the mulching process, and that I was the first person to ever complain about the mulch. After several days of rainy weather, I started to get back into placing the mulch. As I put the mulch from the pile into the wheelbarrow again, along with more pieces of the above-referenced items, rusted nails (lots of them) started to become somewhat visible (see attached Picture 2). The other items were easier to see and pick-out, but since I have young children and pets running around, and the rusted nails blended in with the other material so well, I stopped using the mulch. I collected the nails and went back to Arvin's. I met with the same manager, and again told him I didn't want my money back, but this time to please come and take back what was left; approximately 4 cu. yards. He seemed upset that I was there and again indicated that I was the only person to complain about the mulch. I asked him, what he would do in my situation. He stated the following: "I wouldn't be looking for nails in the first place", and "You can't prove those nails came for my mulch.". I asked him once again to take the mulch back. He stated "No, take me to court".

Eat This sells a fairly diverse group of pate, pickled vegetables, jams, marmalades and desserts…read more You can buy their stuff either through their website or at one of the farmers markets that they set up at such as Stockton or Saucon Valley. Now there are two things worth noting with their products: 1. They are very, very expensive. Charging $8.00 or more for a small five or nine ounce jar isn't exactly going to win you a huge following because no matter how good things may taste, people are going to walk on by without trying anything as soon as they see the price. This was confirmed by another vendor at the Saucon Valley Farmers Market who told me that while the flavors are solid, people are scared off because of the prices. 2. Speaking of the flavors, they are kick ass. I bought a small jar of the bacon marmalade and it was amazing! On a burger? Hell Yeah! On a grilled cheese? Damn Right! I also tried some of the peach jam and it was very good. (The lovely wife's is better but then again I am contractually obligated to say that.) I mean if you're one of those Bucks County Yuppie types who has more money than God then by all means knock yourself out because Eat This delivers big flavor on all fronts. They also deliver big prices which is going to keep the common man such as myself away permanently or buying only as a rare splurge. (He'll take $1.00 off a future order if you bring back the glass jar.)
