We ended up in the back where the larger trees were and an employee brought over extra lights for us so we could see better. He carried the tree for us, wrapped it up and even put it on our car.

I tagged a handful of farms to visit to buy different produce and meats and what ever else folks offered and this place did not disappoint. We had an hour before heading down @Cabbagethrowfarm as they open at 2 pm so, we stopped @countryfreshfarm to meet Sheri and the hard working staff filling vegetable bins, washing buckets, re-arranging merchandise and making sure the products were ready for the Friday afternoon customers. The free parking lot adjoins the property and beyond there are a myriad of merchandise strewn along the outside of the building to buy from wooden benches, Cowboy boot bird houses, garden carts, flag holders, plants and a separate shed/room full of decorative indoor/outdoor plaques, signs, trays, pictures of Highland cows (my fave) and candles, country kitschy items for every personal style. Everyone was helpful, engaging, shared some info about where certain items were sourced and how they came about selling their items. I purchased a loaf of Amish cheese bread (I'll review that later), some sweet corn, tomatoes and the succulent cantaloupe that I cut up that night and absolutely sweet and ripe. (No comparison to the methane sprayed supermarket melons which are hard and never ripen to their potential sweetness!) There is a play area for the children plus a corn table to occupy them. As the weather gets cooler, we'll return to see what FALL weather offers us.

What a ROTTEN FACE I got from her when she heard the name. This should have been my warning to turn around and walk away. I continued with my request for material, and that I wanted a call prior to delivery so that I could be at the house, gave my information and left. I never got a call, my check got cashed and multiple phone calls went unanswered, and I never got the material that I paid for. All I can say is that the customer service is deplorable. They must have needed my $53.00 really badly, just such bad business practice.

I purchased a strip steak, to try the line of their grass fed and finished meats. After I read the website for cooking suggestions on the specific cut, we appreciated the flavor and the texture, noticed a long, white fibrous through the length of the steak. We will stop back to try another cut of beef and perhaps some fowl.

Now there are two things worth noting with their products: 1. They are very, very expensive. Charging $8.00 or more for a small five or nine ounce jar isn't exactly going to win you a huge following because no matter how good things may taste, people are going to walk on by without trying anything as soon as they see the price. This was confirmed by another vendor at the Saucon Valley Farmers Market who told me that while the flavors are solid, people are scared off because of the prices. 2. Speaking of the flavors, they are kick ass. I bought a small jar of the bacon marmalade and it was amazing! On a burger? Hell Yeah! On a grilled cheese? Damn Right! I also tried some of the peach jam and it was very good. (The lovely wife's is better but then again I am contractually obligated to say that.) I mean if you're one of those Bucks County Yuppie types who has more money than God then by all means knock yourself out because Eat This delivers big flavor on all fronts. I stopped in with my parents while bopping around town and brought home just one container, but do have big plans to return and try more and more. We chatted with the kind woman behind the counter that let us know her son is the pickling genius behind the operation, while she mans the store. This endeavour might be new to the family, but her son, like her father have always been big gardeners. And what do you do with an excess of cucumbers? You get creative! The Kosher Dills and are delicious and have a great crunch. I am veryyyy confident that they won't last long in my fridge.

After checking out the plants and garden items outdoors, we decided to go inside to look at the produce and merchandise located in the shop. My husband loves cherries, and I thought we might purchase one of the two remaining pints that was all they had. Unfortunately I saw that several cherries were moldy on the top of both pints. I pointed it out to the lady working there, who said that she just sorted them that morning and didn't notice any problems. I then walked over to the tomatoes, a favorite of mine, and picked up several which was also moldy on the stems!! Obviously they are still trying to sell older fruits and vegetables and didn't have the turnover when fresh. The only thing I knew couldn't spoil was the flavored honey sticks, and I purchased three for a dollar. Quite a disappointment and we won't visit them again.
