    shelves of pickles and jars
    Yuk L.

The sweet heat pickles is why I came in with my family. They needed another jar and we decided to stop in for our afternoon jaunt into town. They ended up getting several other items. But we came away with a few jars of the sweet heat pickles. I have been happily snacking on them. Looks like I'll need to return to restock.

Kilhaney's pickles are the best! The varieties are amazing. The staff in the Clinton and Hackettstown stores are great.

The moment you walk in, you are welcomed by a warm and intimate atmosphere that feels genuinely Italian, more like being invited into someone's home than visiting a restaurant. The food is exceptional, fresh, full of flavor, and made to order with obvious care. The husband and wife team prepares everything with such personal attention, and her homemade desserts are truly something special. Do not leave without trying one. This charming little spot has definitely earned a place on our list of places to return to. If you are looking for delicious Italian food served with heart, this is absolutely the place to go.

Food took an hour to be served. Only 1 person cooking and 1 person serving and handling all the take out orders. Everything was served in plastic takeout containers and cheap paper plates. Our bill was around $240 plus tip for 4 people for appetizers and dinner. It's BYOB. For this price point we should not be eating on plastic and buying bottled water. Arancini balls were good. Herb crusted salmon was plain in a pool of something. Pizza was not good. They really need to have china and glasses and more help on service. Service was disorganized and food was disappointing.

The issue is that the sandwiches sound delicious on the menu but the reality doesn't live up to my expectations. My husband order some spicy Mexican inspired fried catfish sandwich for himself and a fried scallop sandwich for me. The sandwiches presented well but both lacked flavor, salt & seasoning in general. Even the soups; one was supposed to be red lentils but looked mostly yellow lentil and again desperately needed salt for one and would have been improved with additional seasonings. Whoever made the manhattan clam chowder got the recipe correct. It was the only thing that was tasty without needing alteration. The owner is nice and after my first poor review offered to make me a replacement but I didn't take him up on the offer. If they only get it right while someone is watching over their shoulder, what's the point. It is NOT a cheap lunch so to be disappointed is a real bummer. Better to stick with the raw seafood items or some prepackaged items (hummus & great flatbreads).

As I entered the shop, I noticed some fresh apple cider and freshly made pies (as well as fruit, fruits and vegetables, and preserves.) I got some apple cider and a peach pie to go!! The staff was very, very delightful engaging. Very welcoming. I enjoy drinking my ice cold apple cider whilst driving home. Very delicious and refreshing. I would definitely come back! After checking out the plants and garden items outdoors, we decided to go inside to look at the produce and merchandise located in the shop. My husband loves cherries, and I thought we might purchase one of the two remaining pints that was all they had. Unfortunately I saw that several cherries were moldy on the top of both pints. I pointed it out to the lady working there, who said that she just sorted them that morning and didn't notice any problems. I then walked over to the tomatoes, a favorite of mine, and picked up several which was also moldy on the stems!! Obviously they are still trying to sell older fruits and vegetables and didn't have the turnover when fresh. The only thing I knew couldn't spoil was the flavored honey sticks, and I purchased three for a dollar. Quite a disappointment and we won't visit them again.
