The little sister offshoot of rice and noodles is just as fresh and delicious. I've had rice vermicelli with egg rolls here before but today I went for Bun bo hue ("beef noodles of the city of Hue"). The name's a bit misleading since this soup has beef and pork in a fish base. It came with the usual fresh pho toppings- basil, bean sprouts and limes. Unlike pho, however, the rice noodles are thicker and the soup is usually spicy. The soup was delicious but if there was any chili in there, I didn't taste it. Also, the pork was a bit dry and bland but the beef was exceptional. The dish itself is a solid four stars but everything I've tasted here and at the main joint (especially those spring rolls!!!??!?) has been laudable. Service is always very quick and competent. I was ecstatic to find out Rice and Noodles was opening a new restaurant at the end of my block. After many visits to Sprout, I am moving out of the county. I will be sad I will no longer be a block away from them. Their Soup Rau Chay is a vegetarian's version of chicken noodle soup. It was always my go to when I was under the weather or whenever I was craving it. The broth is such a comfort. The staff has always been very friendly and accommodating. Incredible, I loved my BM 7 (the sandwich) and the other person loved the sticky rice we had never had anything like it! We also tried the jasmine tea with lime and it was refreshing and delicious. The iced coffee was STRONG which is amazing for a mid afternoon pick me up. Sprout is the little brother of Rice and Noodles- the best Viet spot in the US outside of Westminster. It has the same wonderful owners and amazing food, but with a smaller menu focused on lunch. Opening a second location doesn't always work, but I'm happy to report that Sprout lives up to expectations. Found this place after one of our usual places to go for PHO basically was so rude that we had to leave. I'm so glad that happened because this place was a hidden gem in Lancaster. They are a counter service restaurant but it was super clean, modern and bright. The Pho was delicious!!!! I also bought two Bahn Mis to take home and they were also delicious!!!! The Rice & Noodles family has spread it's seed and Sprout of Rice & Noodles has popped up in downtown Lancaster. This quaint little eatery serves up all the Vietnamese delicacies you know and love from their first location on Lititz Pike. Me and some bros hit up Sprout around 6pm on a Tuesday. The restaurant was already bustling with customers catering to a seemingly youngish crowd. Walking in, the fresh modern interior is quite inviting although a bit tightly spaced. Even a petite Asian guy like me had to shimmy around tables and customers. We motioned for a table for 3 but realized it's actually self-ordering a la Chipotle style, no waiter service. Menus were in the back and while waiting in line, I decided on the Egg rolls and Com tam Grilled Pork Thit Nuong(no bones) (Suon=bone in). The food came out quickly. Everything looked and tasted fresh. The egg rolls were crispy and delectable. If you're like me and don't like Nuoc cham(fish sauce), the Com tam comes with some Pho soup broth which is a nice bonus to moisten up the dry rice. The grilled pork was nicely flavored but a bit over-charred for my taste. Overall Sprout is a great place if you're looking for a fresh and quick meal. Some minor gripes: 1.) Parking although not a big issues can be tricky since it is in the city. 2.) There's no waiter service. I don't really mind the self serve concept. But when you order a big meal and you're in the middle of enjoying it, it can be a bit of a hassle to get up and get a refill or get more Sriracha. I guess I'm just used to waiters when it comes to this type of food. Or maybe I'm just a lazy ass. 3.) The bathroom requires a key. I understand being in the city there might be vagrants who use the bathroom without ordering. But having a big key like the ones for gas stations can be an inconvenience for both the busy servers and customers who have to ask for it. Not sure what the solution is. Maybe some sort of finger print scanner that can detect paying customer or vagrant. Don't be put off by my picky gripes. The food here is really good and the servers are friendly which are the most important things. In time, I know Sprout will mature and get better with age. read more

Love this place. My boyfriend and I come here every time he is in the mood for some good authentic Vietnamese food when we're in Lancaster. He loves their Bun Thit Nuong. I either go for their Com Tam, Pho Tai, or Com Bo Luc Lac. It's a good place to get real Viet food, especially when my mom can't make it at home. The price is pretty reasonable for their portions. Hooray for another spot with vegan options in Lancaster! I love Sprout. No really, I L O V E it! The vegan soup is good, the vegan Banh Mi is good, the vegan spring rolls are good, everything is good! I get the limeade nearly every time I go. I have yet to have a meal here that I didn't like. I've used them for catering a work event in the past and they were great! The prices were reasonable, and all of the food went over exceptionally well. Some of my coworkers even commented that it was their favorite choice out of everything I've brought in.
