The Boardwalk is quite small but is perfectly adequate for most of the gigs played there and can also really increase the atmosphere. The staff seem friendly and the drinks prices are average, with promotions on for certain regular nights. There is nearly always something on every night at The Boardwalk and there has been for decades. My parents recall going to see bands there and I don't think that the inside has changed that much. Still, it stays current and has launched the careers of several bands. Great local venue which will likely go on for years and years.

It's a proper pub, with a good range of food and booze available, both at very reasonable prices. For entertainment, there is a pool table and quiz machines available, a Monday evening Happy Hour which drops the already low prices to circa £2 a pint (depending on what your tipple of choice is), plenty of big screen T.V.s if you fancy watching the football, and they are no strangers to having live music from some of Sheffield's local talent. I was last in on Friday night, and it was super quiet, which was a shame as usually there is a great weekend atmosphere in The Howard. However, I got chatting to the manager whilst waiting for a friend, and he informed me that unfortunately their refurbishment has been pushed back, so lots of the regular faces weren't aware they're still open! I love coming here for a quiet pint, either on my own while waiting for a train, as a pre-club watering hole, or meeting people for a catch-up. The staff are friendly and chatty, and the location of the pub makes it a great little spot to visit. I highly recommend it!

Because I was a bit worried about parking... and I wanted to have a few drinks, Mr. Snarky dropped me off, but after 6:30 p.m. the bus lane seems to be the place where everyone parks. I think the fact that there was so many people in the pub must make one of the most popular boozers in it's area. We were seated immediately and checked out the menu, paying particular attention to the 'roast' section. I was a little indecisive so it was great to see an option to have a 'trio' of meats with extra trimmings. It cost 2 quid more than a normal roast, but unfortunately was much smaller, meaning I had to finish off my Mother-in-law's roast beef! I told you, I'm greedy. Despite stating the law, which implies anyone at the age of 16 or 17 can enjoy an alcoholic beverage with their meal. Nether the less, we were consequently found bombarded with the statement "it's company policy" over and over again. This being a 19 (soon to be 20 in January) male in his second year at university, even on his wild nights on the toon, getting asked to present identification is incredibly rare.
