When I'm not gallavanting around in Manchester, I can most often be found in Sheffield, as it is where Momma and Poppa F. live. Sheffield is a city that I know almost as well as Manchester, and it has some wonderful little hidden gems, such as The Howard. It's a proper pub, with a good range of food and booze available, both at very reasonable prices. For entertainment, there is a pool table and quiz machines available, a Monday evening Happy Hour which drops the already low prices to circa £2 a pint (depending on what your tipple of choice is), plenty of big screen T.V.s if you fancy watching the football, and they are no strangers to having live music from some of Sheffield's local talent.
I was last in on Friday night, and it was super quiet, which was a shame as usually there is a great weekend atmosphere in The Howard. However, I got chatting to the manager whilst waiting for a friend, and he informed me that unfortunately their refurbishment has been pushed back, so lots of the regular faces weren't aware they're still open!
I love coming here for a quiet pint, either on my own while waiting for a train, as a pre-club watering hole, or meeting people for a catch-up. The staff are friendly and chatty, and the location of the pub makes it a great little spot to visit. I highly recommend it! read more
