This is a quaint little village pub that does still get plenty of local custom and support keeping it away from the frosty claws of closure that so many other pubs are succumbing too these days. It's a traditional style pub with nice wooden bars and as its a Samuel smiths run brewery has all you classic pub style lagers bitters and soft drinks without all the commercialised rubbish trying to sell you anything that's new a "faddy".
On this occasion I sat in the lounge side which is family friendly welcoming and perfect for a quite drink it has a "bandit" machine in the corner of the room if you want a little flutter while waiting to refill your poison.
The tap side of the pub is again what you would expect with a pool table and a lot of bar stool type arrangement of seating rather than the chairs and benches in the lounge.
This place does however come into its own in the summer as the rear of the pub faces onto the local cricket pitch meaning you can enjoy your summer drink watching the cricket and topping up your tan. It has a nice conservatory area running around the rear and side of the building if you don't want to risk taking on the pesky wasps and flies that always come with the nice weather though. It even has a small play area for the kids to enjoy.
All in all a lovely pub with reasonable prices (£2.10 a lager) and a very relaxed welcoming atmosphere. read more
