Athens Winery Tours

I have been to a lot of Breweries and Wineries with work being treated like a VIP, and I have also…read morebeen to Breweries and Wineries as part of the general public waiting in long lines, getting the basic tour, etc. So I wanted to see how the Brewery Tour would work out??? It was amazing! We met near DT Athens, got on the bus, popped a beer, and headed toward ATL. Kevin gave us a quick, but informative look at the history of beer and gave us an idea of what we were getting into and how many different beers we would get to try. Then a little socializing and meeting the rest of the group. We visited Red Brick, ate at Five Seasons West with a beer flight, Monday Night, and ended at Sweetwater. You think that that is a lot, but we rolled right off of the bus, Kevin had already checked us in at Red Brick, so we went straight to the bar, got a beer, and although "So You Think You Can Dance" was filming at the brewery(which closed it off to the general public), we got to go back into the working brewery and hang out while we sampled their lineup of brews. Then, a fill-up on our way back to the bus(apparently it's legal since he has a limo license) before we headed to 5 Seasons West. Kevin lined up a flight of 6 of their beers and we ordered food and filled up to prepare for the rest of the day. Picked up a few beers at Hop City(right next door) and got on the bus to Monday Night Brewing. This is where the VIP really kicked in, there must have been 75 people waiting to get in, but we walked right around and into the tasting room, not going to say we were the most popular people as we walked thru the line, but they should have come with us. Lines were long to get to the beer, but if you stay with your group, get in line, get beer, and get back ing line with your group as you drink, you will be good. Try to find the MNB tour guide named "Duck" he give the best tours. Try the Serrano Pepper IPA, it will blow your mind. Another Serrano IPA for the bus, and we are on to Sweetwater, since we took our time getting the group together, Kevin called his girl at Sweetwater and lined it up so that we could stay a little later after they kicked everyone else out. Got to enjoy some tasty beers there with Taylor the Tour Girl(yes guys, she is smokin' hot and know her sh!t about beer). So now, it's time to head back to the ATH with a pretty good buzz and don't have to worry about driving at all. I cannot wait until the next trip. I've been to all of these breweries before, but it was completely different in a group like this.

The Megabus facility in Athens was very clean with vending machines and clean restrooms. The bus ride was very comfortable and quiet. You get dropped off at the Marta station in Atlanta, which is not very clean and I couldn't find any nearby restrooms. There is a restroom on the bus but I did not use it. On the way back from Atlanta to Athens, the bus ran at least 30 minutes late. Had to wait outside on a cool evening in a long line to get on the bus. Other than that, it was a great experience. It's nice to be able to drive by a lot of traffic. Make sure that you reserve your tickets online early as they almost double in price right before the trip. You also need to show the driver your online confirmation number on your smart phone to get on the bus. The bus temperature is comfortable and is not controlled by the driver. I would recommend bringing blankets and pillows.

It's always at least 1 hour late, never has the estimated destination time available to view online (so you can plan around it), and they never offer even a partial refund. I called their representatives once when the bus was over 2 hours overdue (and I would in turn miss a meeting), and they said the bus had to be at least 3 hours late for refund considerations. That, people, is not good customer service or a dedication to good business ethics. They know they're the only affordable game in town and they don't give two S**** about their customers' schedules or lives.
