Just take an Uber! Driver arrived to Indigo Hotel late, no apologies, nothing, not even an offer to load my bag. Groome customer service stated there was a mixup with transportation so got picked up in a van only to be taken to the office to get back on a bus. Every seat was taken (every passenger was allowed to take up two seats to sleep) which could have been avoided if Groome managed things better. This isn't a comfortable way to travel for an 1.5 to the airport. Not sure why I didn't just Uber. Avoid the headache and just Uber! read more

Driver forgort to pick me up according to the dispatcher. When the van was 10 minutes late I called and the dispatcher promised he was on the way and would be there in a couple minutes. When I called 10 minutes later the dispatcher said the driver forgot to pick me up, too much trouble to turn him around and get me so I was out of luck You would think Groome would have called me to let me know. If I hadn't called, no telling how long I would have waited. Don't use Groome if you have a flight to catch, they are completely unreliable. read more

Had to call them myself to find out the 'driver called out sick and they did not have a replacement driver.' Had to scramble with others to find an UBER. Groome said they would provide a refund/credit back to us for the NO SHOW, only to find out that the 'credit' never appeared on the CC, but they say now it was a CREDIT to use their shuttle for a future shuttle. VERY BAD AND UNRELIABLE SERVICE!!! Here is the background: I booked two tickets for a trip from Atlanta to Chattanooga on 05/24/2023. On the day, the bus was scheduled to depart at 7:15 AM. My group arrived at the designated spot at 6:50 AM, well ahead of the departure time. However, to our surprise, the bus did not show up until 7:40 AM. During this extended waiting period, I had to urgently use the airport restroom. Unfortunately, while I was inside, the bus arrived and, according to my friend who was still waiting at the spot, the driver refused to wait for us and departed, even though I was merely 3 feet away from the bus, and shouting loudly behind that "I am here!". Later, I called the office to express my frustration and seek a resolution. However, the customer service representative refused to offer any form of refund for the inconvenience caused, saying that the management decided that the bus driver arrived on time and is of no obligation to my loss. I have outlined all the problems in this chaotic process below. These can all be checked by the airport surveillance videos, recorded customer service conversations, and the payment records: 1. The bus did not arrive on time, which clearly violates the rules set forth by the company. It is unjustifiable for anyone to retain customers' payment for a service that was not provided as agreed upon. 2. When I contacted the customer service, I was shocked to hear that the bus supposedly arrived on time and thus bore no responsibility for my loss. Again, how could you outright lie when the surveillance footage can clearly prove the bus was late? Additionally, there are airport staff who were witnesses to the entire incident. 3. There payment system is highly questionable. They request tips during the reservation process. Although I had reservations about making an upfront payment without experiencing the quality of their service, I still decided to tip 20% of the bus fare due to my understanding of the demanding nature of the profession from my previous work experiences with many long-haul drivers internationally. However, the quality of service I received fell far below the minimum expectations. At the very least, they should refund me for the tipping portion of my payment. I have to post my experiences here! The shuttle showed up on time, it was clean and comfortable, the driver (Duncan) was a pleasure to ride with, and we arrived on schedule in Athens despite some horrific traffic. I understand others have had different experiences (but also I think this franchise is under relatively new management). My only gripe is that for the ride back to ATL I left making a reservation too late, and the shuttles back at a time that would work were all booked. My 4:30 shuttle on Saturday am was canceled and no one let me know until I showed up!!! I had the receipt with me. "Nothing they could do"!?!? So I had to drive to airport and it was spring break. It was hard to find A parking lot that wasn't full!! My trip was 7 weeks so I had to pay $500 to park plus the $100 for shuttle they never refunded even though they said it was canceled!?!? Their shuttle never arrived after 10 minutes, so I called their service number - the first time I was on hold for 5 mins and then disconnected. The second time was a 15 min call, where the rep couldn't get in touch with driver, and said he needed to transfer the call to another rep, who then said the driver "forgot to make the pickup because they are very busy". Seems like a simple operation - pick-up then drop off - rinse and repeat. While I appreciate the honesty, the next shuttle was an hour later. While on the phone at the Atlanta airport with the Groom office in Athens trying to figure out where to go to catch the shuttle home since it's different then where they drop you the van pulled away as I was walking out the door. When I told the person on the phone I'm watching them drive off she said "they couldn't wait any longer". Why wouldn't she radio the driver and say I'm on the phone and they are in route?? I use groom at least twice a month from Athens to the Atl airport and back . It's so easy and the staff is friendly and helpful . The drivers are very good and always concerned with passenger comfort. It usually not a full van so most of the time there is room to stretch out. I've even had them wait on me when I was a few min late at the airport all I had to do was call the office and they let the driver know . If you miss a van due to a delayed flight you can just catch the next shuttle . I recently traveled with a companion in a wheelchair. They prearranged a handicap van at no extra charge and assisted every step of the way . Vans are always clean and comfortable . I couldn't imagine how anyone could rate this company less that 5 stars. I have used them 100s of times and it's always a pleasure . read more

I had reservations for 7:20 from the UGA Center. I sat at the lobby entrance on Lumpkin Street as my email from them stated. I called at 7:20 to make sure they were coming. I was on hold so long that I missed the shuttle. Now I may miss my flight. They DO NOT pick up at hotel lobby nor do they pick up on Lumpkin. Their bus stop is on Greene Street. Be there, they will not call you even if you have already paid. They just leave without you AND they won't come back for you even if they are at the Holiday Inn down the street. Very disappointed. This place does their job very well!! They run shuttles between Athens (and many other cities) & Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. Their drivers are very professional & their vans are top notch and very clean. I pay approximately $35-39 for a one way, which I think is an extremely good value. The only negative I would like to see them improve on is their incoming call hold time. Hold time is unacceptable. Every time I've called in.. 10+ minute hold time. This tells me they are not hiring to their needs on customer service reps that handle the calls. I am still giving them 5 stars at this time because everything else they are doing so well, but their hold time is asinine, if they do not fix this problem it's going to continue to really hurt their business. read more

Take an Uber from Atlanta to Athens instead if you are a University of Georgia student! DO NOT use their service if you are somewhat big or tall because they pack people into their minivans like sardines. It is also extremely unsafe during COVID because people literally sit next to each other knee-to-knee. I honestly worry that I might get infected with COVID. Also, they won't give you a refund! I think this is the only shuttle service for ATL airport to/from Athens. I've been using them for almost 4 years and have never had issues. The drivers are always nice and I don't think I've ever been picked up/dropped off late. Can't complain and it's pretty affordable for a 1.5-2 hour ride. read more

Needed a ride from Bethlehem GA to the airport. Easily booked my ride online a few days before. The shuttle showed up at the Texaco station within 5 minutes of the designated time. Impressive! I will never use Groome again for transportation. This is the first time my husband and I used this service as we were traveling out of the country for multiple weeks and didn't want to leave our car at the airport for so long. We were scheduled for a specific time to get picked up to go to the airport and they were 1hr and 15 minutes late in starting the drive to the airport. The only saving grace to get us on our flight in time was the driver dropping us off at the international terminal first (which is not their policy). We barely made it in time for our flight out. On our flight back, we were scheduled to get picked up at 5:30pm for a landing time of 4pm and it took us that long to get through customs/border control and get our bags. We showed up 3 minutes past the pick up time to have no shuttle waiting for us. When we called the company, they told us the shuttle already left and they bumped us to the next shuttle an hour later. They wouldn't consider having the driver turn around to pick us up or try to compensate our time in any way. Do not recommend using them at all. I will just Uber in the future. read more

Our plane was delayed due to a massive storm passing over Atlanta, which then caused us to miss our shuttle time. I don't understand why it is that difficult to look at the forecast and know there will be multiple delays at the airport? It would of been nice to have added some more shuttles so the people who have prepaid for their shuttle could then have a ride to Athens! I am assigning Groome 2/5 stars because that is the proportion of my trips with them that are comfortable and well done. To gauge my experiences with Groome, understand that in the past 2 months I've used them for 5 round trips from Athens to ATL. Best quality: timeliness. You can be quite assured they will be at your stop when they say, and will leave promptly as scheduled. I have not run into a situation where they arrive at the airport later than estimated. First the drivers--most are exceptionally courteous and safe drivers. I have had a small number who absolutely should not be driving professionally for a living, namely speeding and otherwise driving dangerously. Another 1/3 of my drivers are clearly heavy duty smokers whose vans reek of their own cigarette smell. The phone operators have also been extremely kind and generous. They have always been A+ for me. The real problem with Groome is the management and/or business model. Among the numerous problems I've encountered are overbooking, inability to adjust for peak hours (like larger vans or simply sending 2 vans), inability to adjust for late flights and passenger. They simply seem to fail to understand how proper use of scheduling algorithms and mathematics should be very accurate to help determine their organizational structures. Finally, the billing agent / accountant in Athens is inept. I have been trying for 2 weeks to resolve a duplicate billing error (I got on the shuttle and the drivers log said I had not yet paid, so I did so as to not miss my flight--figuring I could straighten it out later). The accountant never is at work when he is scheduled to be, he does not respond to my phone messages I have left with the office, nor the emails I have sent to him. The corporate office does not respond either. I agree with W.C.B that Groome should be shut down. I agree with another reviewer who said Athenians don't understand what quality of service to expect/demand from a transportation service. I wish I could make Groome go away and bring back AAA. Or even better, move this service to the UGA bus services--among the best transportation systems I've experienced. PLEASE UGA -- create your own Athens-ATL transportation service! read more
