Well needless to say, we will be on the hunt for a better spot- FOR SURE. Here's what our feedback was to the establishment since they asked, and I decided to share here in case it's helpful to anyone thinking about going here: "The overall experience was disappointing and did not meet the standards expected of a professional wellness or spa environment. The walk between buildings felt awkward and disjointed, and the areas where services were provided were visibly unclean. This immediately detracted from the sense of calm and comfort that clients typically seek when booking spa services. The sauna instructions were overly complicated and nonintuitive. Rather than supporting a seamless, stress-free experience, the setup required unnecessary effort and attention at a time when guests should be able to arrive, decompress, and enjoy the service. One of the facials was particularly concerning. The provider fell out of her chair during the session, left the room for approximately 15 minutes within the allotted service time, and complained openly about missing supplies that had not been ordered. Her presentation and behavior appeared impaired or otherwise not fully attentive, which was alarming in a setting where professionalism, focus, and client safety are expected. There were also sanitation concerns. Gloves were not worn during the sessions- in particular extractions & close facial work, which raised hygiene and safety questions. Given the nature of skincare treatments and direct contact with facial areas, adherence to clear sanitation protocols is critical. Both facials were performed below expected standards. Product application felt careless rather than intentional for both clients. Creams were applied in a manner that resulted in product entering the nostril area for both clients. In one instance, the technician had to awkwardly clean the inside of a nostril during the service, which was unexpected and uncomfortable (and something never experienced prior). In the other facial, cream entered the nostril and remained there throughout the session, creating concern about inhalation; the client ultimately had to clean it out herself after the session. This experience was distracting and far from relaxing. Additionally, massage and sculpting techniques reflected a noticeable lack of refinement and training, particularly for clients accustomed to higher-quality services. Overall, the experience lacked attentiveness, professionalism, cleanliness, and the level of care expected in a premium setting."

My masseuse Elle did a wonderful job; it felt like the waves of the ocean were gently but firmly massaging me! Her motions felt very skilled. I also appreciated that she asked about what kind of pressure I preferred before we started. I highly recommend her. Chau did my facial and again, a wonderful experience. I was surprised (but shouldn't have been, given her years of experience) that immediately she could tell that my skin used to be oily and that I was not a stranger to retinol. She did a deep exfoliating treatment on me and extracted an extremely stubborn and deep blackhead in my cheek that I'd had for months. I am a skincare nerd and even though I use exfoliating products regularly, she said that this treatment was more effective than over the counter or store-bought products. I believe her! My skin not only felt hydrated and glowy the rest of the day, but honestly felt so clean, soft, and kind of... lighter? Because it had been purged of all the heavy dirt and dead skin, I guess! Needless to say I've already booked my next maintenance appointment in three months.

They told me to that to keep my appointment or to book any future spa appointments, I had to pay over $220 for the missed appointment (the one never even made). You heard right - - not a $50 no-show fee, not 25% for a no-show. They wanted the entire amount upfront before I could have my next appointment. It was absolutely outrageous. The one facial I had was decent (I went in for foot reflexology today), but the aesthetician was pushy about me making future appointments. I would avoid and head down to DC where the spas are more professional and customer-centric. I've been to spas all over the world and am a very chill customer, and I've never been treated like that. The moves of a desperate business.

Please don't be discouraged by a few negative reviews - they don't reflect the superlative treatment that I receive CONSISTENTLY. I believe it's a natural tendency to leave reviews that are negative, blasting a business for the actions of an individual. That person may have had a bad day - we all do, right? That being said, I support businesses that deliver a level of excellence not because they have to in order to compete, but to do so because they wish to cultivate a working relationship with their clientele. That starts with an exemplary staff. Andy E. has such great desk side manners that it is worthy of being noted. I've had him call me to alert me to available appointments on a number of occasions and I had the privilege of speaking to him today. He makes the appointment in such an affable way, that it comes through over the phone. I can tell he wanted to facilitate an appointment most convenient to me to ensure the best possible outcome. Andy E. represents this company in an exceptional way - his positivity complements the business in a way it optimizes the whole experience. Pleasant, empathetic and engaging are qualities one doesn't learn, those qualities allow transcendance of negativity in a service oriented industry. Those qualities that are embodied by Andy are crucial. Any world wary individual who chooses to seek therapeutic measures to alleviate his or her stress brought on by the vagaries of life, are welcomed into the oasis of tranquility at Hand and Stone. I want to warn others about the practices I witnessed during my time there. one night shift i was closing and after i closed everything during the middle of the night, robbery occurred, and I had no idea at the time. The robber took around $400, and it wasn't until the next day that the opener saw the key still in the lock and noticed something was off. To make matters worse, the cameras "didn't work," or so I was told, and when I asked about the footage, I was told it would be available to HR. However, I never got to see anything. A couple of weeks later, I was called in for a meeting and was wrongfully accused of taking the money. They claimed they had footage of me taking it, but when I asked to see it, they kept saying they would "show me later." I never saw it, and ultimately, they just terminated me. To top it off, they threatened to involve the police, but I never received any report, and no further action was taken. It felt like they were simply looking for someone to blame, and I was the next in line, especially since others before me had been fired under similar circumstances. In addition to the unjust termination, my experience working there was less than ideal. There were constant complaints from customers about upcharges--something I also noticed during my time at the company. We were instructed to upcharge without clear explanations, which led to a lot of frustrated customers. Additionally, cancelling memberships was a nightmare. Only the manager could do it, and she would always come up with excuses to delay or avoid doing so, which added to the frustration of both the customers and employees. Overall, I do not recommend working at Hand & Stone, nor would I recommend it as a business for customers. They don't prioritize the well-being or fair treatment of their employees, and they seem more focused on finding ways to take money from customers rather than provide genuine service. If you're considering working there, or becoming a customer, my advice is to look elsewhere DO NOT EVER COME HERE!! THEY SCAM YOU TOO

I only ever do simple cuts, nothing fancy. My haircut, done by Anderson (a level 3 stylist), is objectively good. The skill was there. But it's definitely shorter than I wanted it. Went in for a lob, came out with an asymmetrical bob...Honestly I was panicking while he was drying it because it was starting to look like Lord Farquaad from Shrek. I asked if he could style it like in the reference pictures I showed (simple waves, to reduce Farquaad-ness). He tried to do it with the brush/dryer, which obviously wasn't working, and didn't want to use a flatiron. So I just suffered through scalding heat on my scalp and hair pulling. I got told I don't have curly hair. I got told I don't have frizzy hair. I, in fact, have both of those. Some other minor things: 1. When I got home I had some hair that was noticeably longer than the rest, like it never got cut. So...I had to do it. Just a few strands, but normally stylists check for that when your hair is dry. 2. I almost never use heat on my hair, so I asked for recs and mentioned a specific brand doesn't work for me. He immediately said he loves that brand. I said yeah...but it doesn't work for me. Anything else? "Any salon brand." Cool. Not helpful. 3. Asked for something at the end to tame the pieces that were sticking out (again, I have frizzy hair). He looked...confused? Smoothing as a last step has been standard at every other place I've been to. There is nothing in the whole salon like that? Also, my introvert-self just wants to go somewhere where I don't have to be engaged in conversation the whole time. Anyway. Won't go back, my hunt continues.
