One of the BEST massages I've ever gotten. Had a groupon for a 60 min massage. Renu said it would be a Swedish massage with medium pressure (extra $$ for hard pressure). Medium seemed alright with me so I went for that, and I'm glad I did. It was the perfect amount of pressure. I weight lift at least 3x a week, and I was very sore and had a lot of tension on my upper back and upper thighs. She literally removed all the knots -- did hurt for a few seconds but I felt very relieved afterwards. Loved every second of it and would go back again. Very clean and organized salon/spa. Last week I called and scheduled an appointment for a facial. Gave all my information. This Saturday I arrived 10 minutes early and 3 ladies were working in the front of the salon. They asked why I was there and I said a facial and one of the ladies went to the back. When she came back out she said to have a seat since I was a bit early. So I sat and sat until 15 minutes past my appointment. Another lady working up front went to the back to check again. By this time the person working as the esthetician had walked past me and took someone else back. When the lady returned, she apologized and stated that the esthetician did not have me scheduled on her books. The attempt was made to blame the owner. Sorry but total blame goes to the esthetician. Two of her fellow workers went back to let her know that I was there. Never once did she step up to explain the situation or apologize. Instead she lets her coworker apologize for her!?!?! That's rude and poor customer service. The only reason there is even on star is for the 3 ladies working up front that attempted to assist me. I had a wax treatment done here today - called about an hour ahead to make an appointment and ask for prices. Unfortunately I had reached out to them via Yelp and gotten no response. Thankfully, they still had availability when I planned to come in. Upon entering there wasn't anyone at the desk but someone came in quickly from the back. Once confirming my appointment, I was taken to the back room where the waxing was done. Sadly, I didn't get her name but she was very efficient and thorough, though she did use wax from two separate pots and it wasn't a fresh batch. She used the oils on afterwards but didn't really try to take the wax off just rubbed it all over the area. overall I was content with the service I received not astounded but it was reasonable for the price I paid. their prices aren't outrageous so I'd likely return since it matches exactly what I need. read more

She asked me to check her work on my eyebrows, and I noticed they were not done at all and extremely choppy. I let her know there was still hair above my eyelids, under the brow and they were not shaped how I requested (thin). I told her it was ok if she was new and that I would take waxing if that was her specialty. She insisted I stick with threading. I am extremely unhappy with how my eyebrows turned out and their shaping. I told her I would probably never return to the salon because of the inexperience and poor customer service and I was also just going to go somewhere else to get them fixed. I should've trusted my instinct. I knew they change management/ownership but took a gamble for the second time. Boom! A skin tear below right eyebrow. Where is Devanshi or Neetu when you need them? These individuals used to give great customer service. Neetu even massaged my temple after painful threading (normal pain threshold) for about 30 seconds. Those 30 second can equate to more tips/good customers. I was hoping the place would step up their game since they have existing clients from previous ownership. Pros: - Place was clean - Staff greeted me - Location was great Cons: - Staff was talking on the phone while lounging at the front waiting area. Im pretty sure it was personal talk. For business sake, not a good look. - Staff never introduce themselves. This is a huge point since it is service-based. I have been going here for YEARS ever since they used to be Rani Spa. So disappointed to see how bad things have gotten under new management. I bought a groupon for a 60min massage in December and when I called to schedule they said they had to pause services bc of Covid and to try again in February which is fine but why list a groupon for it? I called back to schedule 3 more times and massages were still closed. Eventually I asked to just use the groupon for a hair cut and highlights. I show up to my appt which i drove 40 mins for and they had forgotten about me and the stylist had left for the day. I come back today to get my hair cut and colored but they double booked me so the stylist is working on two people at once. It was so unsanitary I'm pretty sure she was using the same scissors and combs for both of us. Worse than that my highlights are so tacky and chunky that no stylist should be doing past 2009. The toner is patchy and BLUE. Also there's bleach all over the back of my shirt and it's completely ruined. I also got my eyebrows threaded and she cut me! Never ever going back there. After arriving, the esthetician greeted me at the front and I was seen by Devanshi almost immediately, even though I didn't have an appointment. Devanshi did a great job on my eyebrows! My friend and I travel every year for my birthday because it's in August we love to take photos and I needed to get my hair dyed and highlighted because my roots were getting dark. I was assured that it would be no problem. The whole process seemed to be different than what I have experienced in the past. Pa, my stylist kept assuring me that everything was okay. She seemed to be rushed because it was close to closing time and when I expressed my concerns she seemed agitated. She was very friendly but she did not adhere to my concerns for whatever reasons .The process went on and I saw what was happening I continued to express my concerns and was assured that everything will turn out as I had hoped. It did not instead of getting coloring and highlights what I observed was that I only got my hair bleached it turned orange it was nothing like I paid for and when I expressed this.I was told that it would turn out the color that I was hoping for, it never did . It continued to be orange and she kept saying yea yea sure sure I will fix it. The photo that she took is nothing like what the end result was and I'm very disappointed and dissatisfied because not only did I pay $160 for the service I did the right thing and tipped her also, so I spent approx $200. I am just very disappointed because I could have done this to my own hair for a cheaper price and I don't feel valued as a customer because my concerns weren't truly heard. This is the worst experience ever.I sent pic of my orange hair to my hair stylist and she was shocked and she told me that it is unacceptable and PA didn't do professional job. ..Hair stylists should make customer happy and feel beautiful with their service but in my case is opposite. When I lived in Fairfax, this was my go to for eyebrow threading. The owner was usually around to do mines and it never really hurt whenever she did them. I have thick, bushy eyebrows that can turn into a unibrow if not kept up. So I was so happy when I found an awesome threader in my vicinity. The pricing is great too! $8 for eyebrow threading is almost unheard of. I always walked in, never had an appt and I never waited for more than 5 minutes. The service was always pleasant and welcoming. I even brought my niece here for her bday mani/pedi (back when they had a nail tech) and they were very patient with her. She was so happy! I live way out in Arlington now and sometimes I just want to drive back to Fairfax to get my eyebrows threaded because I have yet to find someone that does them right like at Rani's. read more

Second experience with eyebrow threading, the lady didn't clean up my eyebrows as nicely as I liked. There were multiple missed spots and I just came to clean them up, not have them shaped. However, this wasn't Devanshi and I still highly recommend her. For hair, I had Z cut layers. Unfortunately they came out uneven, which I noticed later, but she was fun to have as my hairdresser. Not a big deal since apparently my hair wasn't straight, so she fixed all that for me. The uneven layer in the front was not noticeable, only by me since I'm the only one who stares at my hair for lengthy periods of time. I had trouble finding the place and went back and forth in Fairfax that I ended up coming late to my appointment. I had one with Pa but since I came late and she had another client, Z took me up which I greatly appreciated. Customer service in this spa is phenomenal and I highly recommend. read more

You get what you pay for. Attention first time clients via groupon...will they make you wait? Yes. So I had my hair cut just 2 months prior to this appt but I thought I would give it a try. Anna is pretty much there to bang out all the groupon clients. I told her I only wanted an inch off length and just clean up my existing long layers...nothing different. Half way through I see my layers going shorter and I say to her "this is more than an inch" and she replies she is from europe and doesn't know inches only cm. Then I see her trying to texturize my ends which I don't like because they give me split ends and a proper cut doesn't require this...she does it anyway. I come home and I see everything is uneven (yes, I had to cut my hair to make it symmetrical in the front and the back). After several comments on how I don't like short layers because there can be a disconnect...guess what? I have one set of short layers and then a huge disconnect before the ends which by the way are 3 inches shorter now not one inch. Anyone who is cutting your hair should measure twice cut once and not vice-versa. To sum up, the groupon deal looks too good to be true? It is. read more

She cut me off rudely when I asked her what I needed, n went on to spoil my eyebrows. Don't go here, there a salon nearby called Indus salon (granted they have waiting) but they'll give u what you want for a great price. This review is for an eyebrow waxing. I went in last Friday (the day after thanksgiving) to get my eyebrows waxed. I was greeted with a very friendly attitude and was asked to sit and wait. Since I was a walk in, I didn't mind. The person greet me was working on another customer and appeared to almost be done (for the life of me, I couldn't not remember her name). I wait about 5 mins before she was ready for me. She asked what I wanted and I said eyebrow wax. She then lead me into the back room and tried to see if I wanted eyebrow threading instead ... I said no. We walked into the back room and I was shocked. The room was gross. The wall had stains, the wax holder was gross with old wax all over it and yellow. There was one of those bed but we didn't use that ... she had be sit on a chair, this wasn't a problem for me at all. She then put a towel on me and I should have taken it off. The towel was stained, dirty, had a hole it in, and didn't even come from a clean towel pile. All in all, the cleanest of this room is a total 1 star. Now for the service itself, I was happy with hour brows came out. She never once assumed what I wanted and started with a clean up and worked her way thinner, which I love. She then tried to thread the end of my brow after I had already said NO THREADING and she had to scramble to find tweezers. The whole process was short and simple, another plus. HOWEVR, I walked out of there with wax still on my brows and eye lid ... she didn't once use a liquid to remove the excess and/or use the lotion to help with the stinging of the wax. I guess I got what I paid for, cheapest brow wax ever. Oh and I had to pluck out two more stray brow hairs when I got home. I will never get a brow wax never ever again ... maybe when it comes to threading than maybe. I'll say this, front of the house looks 1000x cleaner and prettier than that waxing room, so gross. read more

I bought the Groupon coupon which included a hair cut and partial highlights for $60 and when I called for the hair appointment I was told that it would cost me a additional $20 for the hair cut and an additional $50 or something, which actually makes the total cost go beyond a $100. I don't understand the point of the coupon because I could have just paid the full price then so they are actually scamming people and luring them through Groupon coupon. Terrible customer service. Really, really shocking. I wanted to try this place. I called to schedule an appointment, but as soon as I said my first name, the woman on the phone started reprimanding me about a full body massage I had scheduled, and how she had been calling me and leaving messages. I tried to explain that she must be mistaken, but she didn't seem to understand. She kept referencing voice-mails she had left, which of course I didn't receive since I'm not the person she thought she was yelling at. Here's the thing. I don't live here. I live in Georgia. I went to Rani Spas because of a referral and I have to say the lady who did my eyebrows, Devanshi, did a great job. I am VERY picky about my eyebrows, I like to do them myself most of the time because I can't trust anyone to do them exactly how I want them, but Devanshi knew exactly what to do. I have some bald spots as well as some parts that have thinner hair than the other brow but she knew that that is easily fixed by filling it in. In the past I have gone to places and they just want to remove all the thinner hair and only leave the thick hair but then the brows wont be even. She was very thorough and fast, always asking me if it was looking good along the process. I also ended up threading my upper lip (which hurts A LOT!) and she did a great job to make it as fast and painless as possible. All for $13! (eyebrows and lip!) That's a great price!! I know Rani takes reviews very seriously, so I'm leaving this because I've had 2 consecutively disappointing experiences in the last 2.5 weeks and need the service to be fixed because I love this place too much to change! So, I'm a regular at Rani and usually LOVE their eyebrow and waxing services. However, my waxing experiences the last 2 visits have been horrible. I got burned underneath my underarms on both occasions, with my skin left MAROON red and blotchy for 4+ days (super painful burning, couldn't even sleep well or move my arms well because of the pain, and couldn't wear sleeveless shirts or lift my arms because of the burn-- which made my entire wax pointless for the weekend). For both times, I was waxed by the new lady in the salon (don't know her name), and she is clearly not trained well enough to be waxing people. Furthermore, her waxing technique was horrible: she was ripping the wax straight off my skin, towards her, NOT downwards with the direction of hair growth. This resulted in tugging at all the hairs and not making half of them come out. To make it worse, she put hot wax on top of the already waxed spots and repeatedly yanked and ripped at the freshly waxed spot, resulting in my burns and immense pain. Someone please train her because I gave her the benefit of the doubt during my second trip, and now I'm left with dark pink/purple burned underarms and a whole lot of pain. read more

Love love love this place! I had never been threaded prior to coming to Rani Spa due to having sensitive skin. I went in for the first time early this year, and my experience was wonderful. The atmosphere is very calming, and even though there is regular business traffic every time I've gone, it never feels crowded or noisy. I've never had to wait longer than 25 minutes. Devanshi is wonderful & very welcoming. She is very gentle, and takes her time to get every last hair. She is also a great conversationalist. Nitu has threaded my full face the past few times, and she is excellent as well! She is goes fast, but takes as much time as she needs to get every hair. She is very warm and can hold a great conversation, as well. I have had one other person do my face, Shazia, and she was good as well. I also had one younger provider attempt to do my face (do not know her name), but it did not go well; I felt this was the case because she was not as experienced and/or as confident as the other providers, especially with sensitive skin, so we stopped within 60 seconds of the session and I came back the next day to be threaded by Nitu. I have to say, I am very particular about my eyebrows, and usually tweeze them at home myself. Nitu is the one and only person I have ever let touch my eyebrows in Virginia, and boy did she do an amazing job!! I did not have her shape them, just clean them up, though judging from her brows, I bet she would do an amazing job for anyone who does need shaping. Product-wise, the Spa sells a few different lines. I have purchased Moroccan Oil products from here. They are the real thing and reasonably priced in comparison to other places. Love these ladies!! They will be my threading place of choice as long as I live in the area. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a great threading place. read more
